    I bought one of these medium sized dog harnesses for my Norwegian Forest cat, since the cats ones are way too small for him, and they’re great, thank you!

    Thanks so much. The step in harness is the one I own for my pup and I couldn't figure out how to get him in it -- and now I feel a little silly because it's actually very easy! Appreciate the vid!

      Becky Eisenhuth Glad you were able to get it figured out. I have a H-harness myself. I think that the H-harness is the better choice and has the better design. It's easier to get on and is more secure. I would recommend the H-harness over the step-in harness to anyone, whether they have an energetic dog, a laid back dog, a big dog, or a small dog. The H-harness goes over the dog's neck as well as through the legs, and that places the weight on the shoulders of the dog instead of around the chest area like the step-in harness seems to do, so the H-harness seems to have the better stability also.

    I've got to say that the H-harness is the better choice and has the better design. It's easier to adjust and is more secure. The H-harness goes over the dog's neck as well as through the legs, and that places the weight on the shoulders of the dog instead of around the chest area like the step-in harness seems to do. That being said, the H-harness seems to have the better stability also. This lady here recommends the H-harness for more energetic and rowdy dogs, and I agree. I have bulldogs (APBTs; powerful, high drive, and very active working/purpose dogs). Now I must warn folks. Neither of these harnesses are for anyone who wants something that limits or stops a dog from pulling. There are other harnesses out there that are for folks that want their dogs to stop pulling, but these harnesses in this video aren't them. These do nothing to stop or deter dogs from pulling. They actually encourage pulling more than other walking gear like a collar. I am fine with my dogs pulling. It's good exercise for both them and me. I actually got an H-harness so that they could pull more comfortably. The H-harness is even built like a weight pulling harness that people use in competitive weight pulling competitions when you see APBTs pulling weight. Now I know she said that if your dog is more laid back, then the step-in harness would be the better choice, but I recommend the H-harness over the step-in harness to anyone, whether they have an energetic dog, a laid back dog, a big dog, or a small dog.

      Static Surge you can clip the lead to the front ring of the H harness and this helps stop pulling

    • @Swell_Character
      @Swell_Character 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Charlie Read I have to say that is a fine idea some folks may need to try out if they have a H-harness and would like to have a little less pull for a change. I reckon that would work, but I wonder about specifics. My only concern my be that it may be a little bit more awkward since that ring at the front is not really designed to have things clipped on it. I wonder if the harness would start to slide off to the side a bit and if the leash would be a bit more of a hassle because of how it is positioned. All and all, I'd say it should still work out fine for folks that do not want their dog to pull but don't want to go buy another harness.

      Also a double ended lead would be good then clip at the back and front more control

      +Ted Ressler It's a Great dane buddy. Danes are not all that common and are not seen much very much, but maybe there is another reason why you didn't know what breed the dog was. The ears aren't cropped like many danes' ears are, which is probably why you couldn't tell that it was a dane. I really think folks should stop cropping ears and docking tails on dogs. I say that it's about time that folks start seeing breeds for how they look naturally. Great dane ears aren't pointed upward and cropped naturally, so that should not be the normal look for the dogs.

      Abso1uteZer0 I agree, buddy. The H-harness is definitely the better choice. It's easier to get on and is more secure. I dont get why the wriggly dog has to have the h harness? does the step in rub the skin on an active dog? My dog is active but absolutely HATES having harnesses put on over her head. Which is why I dont like the idea of an H harness.

    Have purchased at least 25 harnesses over past 15 yrs. why do NONE have a truly long adjustable mid-abdominal piece? Also, if any thinks the 'step-in' or the 'H-harness' can't be nibbled by a long chested dog, (especially bright puppies) think again. We dog owners simply need a 'new mouse trap' when harnesses are designed. Anyone know of a good mid-chest LONG, ADJUSTABLE harness?

    Your how to guide didnt seems to show the best adjustments. In a way what and how to give a comfort and secure fitting. Such as if we need to leave some space for the dog's to breath and pant comfortably .etc.

      +Enviotonin85 I reckon you're right there buddy. This video really should have gone over the fitting of the harness. That is a very important aspect. We don't want a dog slipping out of their harness, having the harness slide every which way, or uncomfortable because it's too tight. I have a H-harness. What I do is tighten it until it gets to where I cannot tighten it anymore without adding serious pressure and stop their. You want the harness close to the body and a snug fit. Never had any problems with my dogs slipping out and I have some pretty rowdy and high drive dogs. I have two bulldogs (APBTs; powerful, high drive, and very active working/purpose dogs designed to hunt, catch, control, and act as warring (fighting) dogs against large game). I've never had one of slip out of the harness during a walk.

    • @Swell_Character
      @Swell_Character 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Enviotonin85 Now that I have answered that question, I was kind of hoping you can help me out with a question I have about the harness, buddy. I notice these small, rectangular pieces on the straps that slide back and forth. I have no idea what they are called or what they are for. They don't seem to do anything seem to do anything much. I always wondered about them. I kept them on the harness to be on the safe side just in case they actually served a purpose. But I had my harness for so long and it is used so frequently that those small rectangular pieces I was talking about broke one by one, so I ended up having to take them off. Fortunately, I didn't notice a difference in the harness itself. Were those rectangular pieces suppose to be taken off after I bought it? Maybe they were there like how some products have certain things on them you take off after purchasing them.

      +Static Surge Thank you for this. You are exactly right. However, we would like to stress that there needs to be a two (2) finger space between your dogs neck and the collar/neck area. This will ensure a secure fit with required "breathing" space. With regards to the rest of the straps, it's determined by your dog and what is a comfortable, snug fit for your pooch. Again, however, we recommend a two finger space between the straps and your dog for breathing room, esp during and after a walk or vigorous exercise. Your dog's ribcage expands further during exercise, esp when panting and that would need that additional space. Having a harness fit too snuggly would restrict that. Should you have any further questions you can contact us on World@rogz.com

    • @rogzpetgear
      @rogzpetgear  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Static Surge those little plastic sliders are called "Strap Keepers". They serve a dual purpose. The first is to keep the "Triglide" (adjuster clip) in place, securing the dog and ensuring that the harness doesn't readjust during exercise. The second, is to keep the straps together, either in the middle between the "Triglide" and Metal Ring OR right up against the metal ring. Either options are correct and it is a personal preference as to how you use them. For the more energetic dog, we recommend the Strap Keeper is shifted against the Triglide. If your Strap Keeper has deteriorated or broken off (as all well used plastic parts do), and your harness is fairly old we recommend that you look into getting a new harness. Your harness will still function correctly without them BUT as they keep the straps together they are a necessary added safety feature that ensures your dog doesn't get his head or paws stuck in the straps. We hope this clears up the mystery of the "little rectangular pieces". Should you have any further questions pls feel free to contact us on world@rogz.com

    Explain different harnesses first - way too fast and too far away! which way is forward?
    Which bit tighten first, how tight should it be?????

    I think, at best, this is a mediocre video. Close ups of which loop the foot is going would help. Locking the buckle in place is shown but nothing is said about this. Another 20 to 30 seconds needs to be spent on how to adjust the harness to fit the individual dog for best comfort. I mention these things because the brand new harness I bought today did not come with any instructions. On the Rogz website it refers to this video as "fitting instructions". If you go to a tailor and ask for a jacket to be fitted you would expect the tailor to do more than just show you how to put on the jacket; you would want them to fit the jacket for maximum comfort and practical use. Just sayin'.
