    Very nice plane. Great landings. Thanks for showing inside electronics and battery placement setup.This is always helpful.

      Thanks Chris. Glad the interior shots helped. I almost cut that material. I was also impressed with the last couple of landings after I got a feel for how slow she flies. Still need practice though. Next time I get this plane out I’ll get the chance to try our beginner pattern with it.

    Looked great. U did seem a little nervous. That take off with mid rate was exciting.
    Was wondering when this was cumin out. Been a while since the build. U were so excited during the build I expected you to maiden the next day.

      Hey John, Yeah, dropping the original motor cost me a week. I need to get over the hump on these big planes though because it flew beautfiully.

    Beautiful big plane. It’s nice to know that even really experienced pilots can get nervous.

    • @RCVideoReviews

      Until a plane flies it’s just a model. I’m always a little nervous on maidens until I see all four control channels do what they’re supposed to do, until I know balance is within the range of reason, and until I know the throws are in the ballpark. Those issues get worked out in about 10 seconds. After that I’m still nervous but much less so while I get a feel for the plane. That’s why all the maiden videos have the plane up high. Until I develop a feel for it I want it either high or fast.

    every pull pull rudder I have done has trouble perfectly centering if you don't get the cables really taut!

    The rudder counterweight you should be able to correct with a heatgun. Tighten up the covering on the side it needs to move towards. Depending on how it's built up you could apply slight pressure to get it to flex a little as well, while tightening the covering.

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Josh, Thanks for the tip. I have recently been made aware of the process of using shrink covering to straighten things like control surfaces, however; on this plane that counter weight is either a solid chunk of balsa or fully sheeted. So I don’t think shrinking one side is going to do much because the piece feels very solid. I.e. I don’t think this is a warp that occurred as a result of covering. So I don’t think it can be resolved by manipulating covering.
      That said, I’ll give it a shot and report back.

      @@txkflier thanks for the info.

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just don't know if it's solid or not. I guess the only thing to do is order some of the orange covering, and just open it up to see what I can do about it. It doesn't seem to influence the flight characteristics at all.
      FYI: I'm going through video comments 1x1 because for some reason, TH-cam isn't informing me of new comments right now. So sorry for the delayed reply, but I'm having to hunt for new comments right now.

    What Futaba servos do you think should I use for this guys? I ordered one and am hoping the build’s gonna go smoove 😎

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know if Futaba has a servo that will work on this plane. You want a 25g servo with as much torque as you can find. Here are the dimensions for the servos:
      Aileron 34mm x 21mm
      Elevator 34mm x 15mm
      If you use the external mounts for the elevators I believe you can use standard servos but don't hold me to that.
      I used HobbyKing 752MG servos for Ailerons and Elevators. They fit with minimal modification to the servo pockets. Unfortunately they are discontinued.

    • @NiccoTijing
      @NiccoTijing 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do they really need digital servos or can I stick to my old futaba analog 45g ones? Specs require digital ones. By the way thanks for acknowledging and keep up the good work on f3a planes🤘

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never personally had a requirement for digital over analog. So the direct answer is, you can use either one.
      Here's a little story:
      I've been riding motorcycles all my life. Big, small, fast, slow, you name it. I had an opportunity to buy a Honda VFR800 years ago and found out very quickly that motorcycle could "outride" me. Meaning my skills didn't measure up to the capabilities of the motorcycle. It would go faster, lay over farther than I was willing to attempt. I never found the limits of that bike.
      Same thing goes for servos. If your skill set in handling an RC plane demands the response time of a digital servo, you should probably get them. If you fly with analog servos and do not say to yourself while flying, "I sure wish that servo reacted faster to my inputs" you will probably get along just fine with analog servos.
      The functional differences will come down to responsiveness and possibly torque. That said I've had plenty of analog servos that were FAR stronger than they needed to be for a given plane.
      So while you shop, look at things like torque and speed. If analog servos meet YOUR NEEDS for torque and speed, get them. If the torque and speed YOU NEED exceeds what analog servos offer, get digital.

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      PS One more thing - I personally never buy based on analog or digital. I buy based on size, torque, gears (metal/plastic), and finally price. To me, analog or digital is academic.

    • @NiccoTijing
      @NiccoTijing 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much for the advice! decided to go with a mixed configuration of digital and analog instead, coming from your advice. It really helped!
      Budget F3a airplanes are really hard to come by nowadays compared to a decade ago. I think they need to bring them back cus not everybody can spend 2,000USD all for a single plane. Nevertheless, keep up them videos! Stay safe.

    So 200mm for the CG? 🤣🤣
    On a serious note, the deal that Bitgo is offering is very good. Unbelievable deal.

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      200mm is the number ;) And yes, it's a very good deal. Plane definitely has some nuances, but it flies great.

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don’t forget Dave: 200mm lol. I watched the video and realized what I did there. I think I had a subconscious alarm going off to make sure I said it because the directions allegedly used to say 145mm. My directions didn’t specify a cg.
      Are you getting one? You’ve got the truck for it.

      RC Video Reviews I was kinda messing with ya about the 200mm thing. You did kinda hammer the point home. I was getting ready to start a drinking game with that phrase! Haha!
      The plane is an awesome deal but it’s not in the budget at this time. It is on my list of planes I want though.

    Hello John - Quick question - If you had to decide between this Extreme Flight Vanquish MKII and the Dynam Smoove for ease of BUILDING and ease of FLIGHT CHARACTERISTICS/FLIGHT ENVELOPE, which one would you take? I have been given the option on either of these for about the same price BEFORE any hardware. When I looked into the hardware, it appears that with the SUGGESTED hardware, the total cost to get into the air with either one would be similar BUT the Vanquish is almost 400mm (15") smaller so I am a little confused.....
    PS - Keep up the good work with your videos, VERY informative

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Flight characteristics are similar. Flight envelope has to go to Smoove because it can tolerate wind better (heavier) and because it’s larger it’s easier to see at a distance.
      You don’t need to post the same question in multiple videos. I ignore duplicates.

      @@RCVideoReviews Ya I should have my Turnigy chargers any day now... It's been easily 3 weeks plus direct from China (USA Distrib's we're all back ordered)....but I have my 1C Dis-charger already built,. but instead of using your 60mm for the heat-sink cooling , I'm using a 120 mm case fan through the side middle of the box ,..along side of the Hobby King PS pulling fresh air in as well...then still using the 2-60 mm for fresh air venting through both sides, like your design.
      Finished cutting the top tray from some 1/4" ply..USB's installed in between where chargers would go,.. and yada yada yada.. lol ,.. still a work in progress bud! Almost there...That dis-charger control with the Vsel and Go button rulz! Very clever... hopefully try and post some pix when I finish.

      @@RCVideoReviews Yes in the community section, very cool... probably going to be doing something similar ,... question bud what size resistors for the led light indicator control panel lights? same as the discharger? And they run right off of the positives of the devices no? Maybe Ill just check out afro mods chan, or one of the others for some schooling =D Cheers!

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The resistors for LEDs depend on the LED. You need certain information for the lights you want to use. Check this link: www.ohmslawcalculator.com/led-resistor-calculator
      I run my LED off the device yes, so when the circuit is closed the light comes on. When the cutoff circuit opens the light is off.

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I noticed the hollow sound too. It’s like a big hollow speaker resonance cone back there. The knife edg was awesome. Normally I have to fidget with something to get a straight knife edge. Even on the uproar I have to be going kinda fast. This plane flies really well in knife edge. No coupling and strong rudder authority.

    I fly giant scale. I have to laugh every time you say how BIG this plane is. Really?

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not everybody flies giant scale. Is it inconceivable to you that a 63" plane might make an impression on someone who usually flies 40-50" park flyers?
