Charming but my preference is for perishables only. Although it may sound ungracious, as a hostess, I prefer not to be gifted permanent objects. What am I to do with all of these things that likely are not even consistent with my taste? As a guest, I would not want to encumber my host with something that they might either feel obligated to store or guilty donating.
I agree, but I also feel that those who gift permanent items should be more graceful about not guilting the hostess if they find out the gift was regifted, donated, or sold on fb marketplace.

So it’s no thanks to that chopping board. It looks full of germs and woodworms. It wouldn’t make it past my front door. But overall very cute gifts.
