I sympathize with the Gaijin-eroo that fixes go through with staff and community managers playing hot potato with it for years.
I uploaded 1970s ballistic test result documents to show that a round defeated more armor at 1km, with detailed live fire results, than it does in-game. The community manager person handling the bug reports page said the math was wrong for the frustum of the projectile and rejected it.
So to want to repeat this into the void - I showed a US government live fire test of the round in the 1970s where it consistently defeated more armor successfully (not even the upper bound, just a confirmed penetration) than it does in-game and they asserted that their math is correct.

At this point you really gotta wonder what kind of sekrit documents they have access to such that they can "find fault" with the 1970 US government live fire test.
To be fair to gaijin there is often the opposite problem, where historical documents are actually wrong and it leads to constant bug reports from mislead users on the forum.
I can't remember the exact numbers but this happened with the Cromwell's front armour. I've dug up design documents from the Bovington archives that quote one number and it's repeated in multiple respectable secondary sources, but go and actually measure one in real life and you'll find its like an inch or something thinner.

Instead of a keybind to turn BLIS on and off, an simple switch in the options menu so you can choose between the green circle and the floating sight
hell, why not even just bake it in for every plane that has radar guided lead indicator (ie the green circle) the arcade gray lead indicator just get automatically disabled. both are the same feature just running on different mechanics similar to how bomb ballistic computer indicator is just the arcade bomb indicator

As a software engineer, I’m going to say that gun sight is some PM’s baby and they’re defending it tooth and nail so they can justify that they’re providing value.

Soooo I only play Realistic and I still absolutely hate the ballistic lead indicator. Glad to see I'm not alone in hating this thing.
All they had to do to make it not the worst thing ever was have the lead indicator be a separate thing from your normal reticle.

So instead of fixing the buggy feature that was conflicting with something else they just grabbed an axe and got rid of whatever wasn’t letting their new bit of broken code fit… sounds about right

Recently, Gaijin fucked with planes that have offset guns (B-26B, Br.693AB2, etc) by moving the instructor control reticle from the plane's nose to where the guns point. It creates so many issues with aiming, but nobody will care FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
They could have added it to the Schrage Musik activation control and change it's name to "Toggle gun camera"

In my experience, the default gray indicator is much more reliable and less jumpy than the radar one. Its inaccuracies come from range rather than speed, with longer shots requiring you to lead the indicator itself. Once you get used to this tho it’s really not that bad and in my opinion more functional. I’ve found the radar indicator to be useful mostly for long-range snipes only, because relying on it in headons puts your plane at risk at jet speeds, and the standard aim indicator works reliably for normal deflection shots one you have enough practice with using it. At least that’s what i’ve found for me. Also it helps to not rely on it when flying a plane without a radar gunsight.

Why is nobody talking about the lag spikes that sometimes happen in Air AB after u kill a player? I got slammed into the ground multiple times.
The fact that the f-5C and E went to 11.0 despite they're basically the zero and n1k2 of supersonic jets is insane. You have the j7E which is faster, has four of the best rear aspect missiles and despite having only 60 rounds, the gun one-shots while you're already granted 3 free kills at least thanks to the missiles while f-5's have good guns but no speed to pressure on the enemies. F-5's have thrived solely because people are actively presenting themselves as a free frag, because they believe that their mach 1.3 on the deck plane should just 180 onto the first enemy they see. Since 2022 the f-5's major advantage which is good horizontal maneuvering speed retention at speeds where nobody flies at has already started to fade away. This update was the opacity value that completely faded them out.
I think that the targeting reticle in arcade appears at 0.77 kms
It didn't make more sense, it was an EASY fix, rather than implementing anything new at all. This is how bad devs think. Coming from a real software developer.

I have had the lead indicator just stuck on the ground when i respawn. I would die as an F-4J with my radar still on and hop into the f105 and boom, the lead indicator is on the ground somewhere with no way of getting it back unless I die.
I had that problem in a customs battle with some friends. Died in my F-4S, so I switched to the F8F-1 to dogfight with the only person on the enemy team with a prop (The jets generally avoid the props, as F-4s don't have much problem killing F4Fs) and suddenly, my reticle is not where it's supposed to be.
It was stuck on the ground and I just had to guess where my guns were pointed.

SO THAT WAS WHY! I was flying my Sabre Fs and i couldn't for the life of me get my green reticle to appear. I even asked in in-game chat, but not surprisingly no one said anything.
However as soon as I looked at the thumbnail I knew this was it. Gaijin, competent as always.
Now that I've bought the A2D-1 Skyshark, I'm really feeling the bite of this change.

The annoying reticule is not only hated by arcade players, realistic players don't like it either, the only guys who have use for it are sim players (like me), and they don't use a reticule, they use the HUD on the aircrafts cockpit

Every time you make one of these, my Gaijin password mysteriously stops being correct and it takes about four hours for my password reset to go through. I'm not sure if that means the servers are buckling under the weight of just a few hundred dedicated fans or Gaijin are specifically sabotaging you but it's pretty funny

Please Gaijin. Fix the kv1 and kv2 fueltanks. Diesel does not explode when light shrapnel hits the tank. In fact the reason why the tanks are there is HISTORICALLY for more armor as diesel is more dense and Doesn't Explode on the lightest hit.

I've been playing WT almost since the start of the OBT, and it was exactly after you outlined the problem that I hypothesized: "Oh, Snail will probably remove the most convenient option". Radar sights almost don't work in the sim, absolutely don't work in RB, and now don't work in the arcade. As they say in our army, "Everything must be uniform and ugly". (in my native language this saying rhymes).
Ah, so this is why that circle went away. Damn; I though I had somehow severely fucked my radar settings

Air realistic top tier isn't really anything else than arcade top tier with the only difference that you can't tk your teammates on take off.
At this point, I'm not sure if I'm still playing the game as charity towards Gaijin, or if I'm a prisoner who's chained to a sinking garbage patch in the ocean.
If I use gaijin logic, then the best way to enjoy this game is to stop playing it... actually, that checks out
This is why I went to DCS instead of War Thunder, I can spend £6 (in a sale) on an F-15C and get instant access to AMRAAMs and fun things in a much better modelled environment where I can make my own missions, instead of paying a year of my life or £65+ and three months of my life only to get a plane that I then have to spend a week researching competitive missiles which people know how to dodge anyway so are totally ineffective.
When you spell it out I wonder why I still play War Thunder sometimes, I mean the aircraft gameplay is older than the tank gameplay, and the tank gameplay is at this point my only reason for playing War Thunder at all.
It's really sad how my once favourite game has just been destroyed by incompetent devs, and this video is a PRIME example, cutting corners to make money and not caring what the playerbase wants.

I don’t play arcade but I do play sim battles and can commiserate with how awful the radar gunsights are. They’re basically useless for most fights unless the enemy has completely stopped maneuvering in which case, you never needed a radar gunsight to hit.
It’s especially bad on the F16C and ever F4 but it’s pretty shit for most aircraft. They almost exclusively underlead targets and are so delayed to the targets changes in direction that it’s often more of a hinderance than helpful.
Then factor in how often you drop the lock and then randomly pick up a completely different target and you learn to just not use it at all.
Nah man it is also in realistic air rb and i hate it with a passion, they need to fix it and give us a button to turn it off
