I'm pretty amazed by how Kevin actually interpreted this whole MV, since the metaphor of a dayfly trapped within something does also apply to the theme which Dean implies in the lyrics: one-night stands. I think what Dean really tried to accomplish with this MV is to create a metaphor of one-night stands by portraying it with an arcade racing game. There's always just one direction in these games and no matter how hard you try to escape from the circuit, you end up respawning on the track again, thus portraying the incapability of escaping a never ending cycle. It does compliment what Kevin actually said about dayflies, these creatures living within their one-day cycle, never being able to pursuit longer lives, not able to break free from this. And what does all of this have to do with this particular sexual act? Well, the feeling of emptiness, trying to contemplate for the lack of emotions by merely pursuing our sexual lust. But as much as one acknowledges that one-night stands are completely pointless and don't lead to anything, one cannot break free from constantly repeating to do so. One seemingly returns to the same act every time the opportunity arrives. But then again, this is just my own interpretation and since Kevin didn't really have time to get into deeper analysis and interpretation, I think it was necessary for me to at lesst get you viewers an insight as to how creative Dean could also be as a director.

We are trapped in our everyday and it seems all days and weeks are the same, filled with the same tasks and stuff. We try to break from the cycle (trying to destroy the car), but it either does not work or we become bored with new things in life as quickly, therefore reappering in the car, even when its still burning, we come back to our routine. Same with the fact that we can move just in one direction, we cannot make the time-flow slower and cant come back to repair our past mistakes. We are enslaved by how fast the time goes, but have no choice, but to live and accept our fate and that our life is as miserable and fast as it is. And its really actual problem being trapped in the information society where the flow of things we "have" to know is so huge that we dont get rest from this world at all. We cannot take a break and breathe. (Im sorry for my english)
