I continue to be amazed by the changes to Angeles. I was stationed at Clark AB in the early 80's as a dog handler. I'm pretty set on moving back to the PI next spring but think I will be settling a bit farther south. Thanks for responding to my PM about the Military Working Dog cemetery, I found several videos covering it. That too has changed since I was stationed there. Pretty much the only thing that is constant is that it will change!

Good walk and talk, good for you to have figured it out early enough to take advantage of your remaining youth. Most people in the U.S. are weak because they grew up with too much and don't appreciate what they have, they also ignore the opportunities they have to be successful, the majority of our latest generation is totally hopeless, intentionally raised weak and ignorant by design. I share your preference of having one quality woman that enjoys your company over paying random girls to pretend to like you as long as pesos are flowing, much better to be able to take off the condom and enjoy yourself without worrying about STD's, it's also nice to have someone by your side when the hard times eventually come along

You make a good point of being in and around the alcoholic world was damaging. For me, the most damage came when they graduated into the drug scene. Watching people's personalities go to hell. The blowback on me that came from that is what I grew to hate.

Lots of Layers to this. The only comment I would give is I personally would not comment to others being stupid for giving. Seems to be a judgement to a meant to be kind act. I myself being a giver n never in the Phil's. I give out of my heart to either a request or a cause when giving. I make a self decision to do so with no regrets. If I feel there will be regrets then I would say do not give. You are correct n sometimes the gift may not go where you was once lead to believe or it might just go to other opportunities pert-ant to the asking that you just did not want to understand within your self but you did have knowledge it might happen. Be understanding to the gift before making the donation. Give with no regrets or judgement. Do not kill your own kindness with ugly-ness.

If you haven't met her, please don't send money. Go to the Philippines and meet them in person. Seeing, feeling, and touching is way better than seeing it online.

The you KWE hotel (by where you were talking to Swaggy) would be a good place to review. It's not well known but has good facilities. Used to be called in the Hotel T'ara I think.

Nice to meet another FIRE guy (financially independent retire early). People think I'm crazy, but like you I think I am one of the few sane ones heh heh.
I can relate to the alcohol scene. I find whenever I visit Philippines or Thailand or anywhere in SE Asia I tend to go full tourist mode and get drunk each night which takes a bad toll on one's body. I plan on living in Thailand next year, so I definitely will need to have the discipline to not be in party mode each day that won't end well.

Vacation mode is fine, thats what a lot of people look forward to and need, retired vacation mode can get dangerous: health conflict drama finances self esteem etc
Socialization with moderation would be perfect but some cant manage it 🙏

There is 'Simping' and there is 'Pimping' neither will work in AC or anywhere long term to be honest. Respect is more often reciprocated here in Asia than back in the west were the expectations of women are higher and consumerism is a bigger problem. The younger generation of Filipinas is becoming more consumeristic. Respect the women and what you get in return will surprise you, but it wont get you laid 'tonight' takes some commitment and patience. Now pay for play is fine and a separate subject. Most of my friends here in AC are college-educated professionals and its a whole different world than hanging with average folks from the Barrio, im not judging anyone just making that observation.
I'm glad you were able to escape the American mindset of working until you die.
