That Laurie King series looks so fun.

I'm really enjoying it! I would keep coming back for the characters alone and the writing makes it even better.

Aw The Beekeeper’s Apprentice! Yvette was raving about this one when she finished it. Digging into an author’s backlist is a fantastic idea for literary rainy days! I tend to switch genres or head to my public library to browse when I’m needing something different.

Switching genres is a great way to get through a rainy day! Ah, thinking about browsing at the library made me think of the big library by my mom's house... definitely have to go there the next time I'm home! I've forgotten how amazing browsing for books is when the only limit is how many books I can carry 😍

I totally do this. Romance is a go-to if I need to be cheered up, but I also reread a bunch. I have certain romances I go back to over and over.

Romances make great rereads, and HEAs are the best thing for literary rainy days! _~sage nod~_

This is such a nice video! 😊 The Beekeeper's Apprentice sounds so interesting, I'm definitely adding it to my tbr.

Thank you so much! I love that first book especially - I'm not a huge Sherlock person but this series is just my kind of thing.

how do you always have the best phrases? I love this theme and the idea of a literary rainy day. I'll keep these in mind. thanks, Kazen 💗

I love this three on a theme. Comics are my go to for literary rainy days. And I second everything you said about The Beekeepers Apprentice. I LOVED the mentor/mentee relationship between Mary and Sherlock. I didn’t realize that I was into reading that kind of relationship until I read that, but I really really am.

Thank you so much, and yea comics! You have me thinking about the mentor/mentee relationship as a trope... surely there are more books out there featuring one? I'm going to think on this because I love it, too!

PS - I just realized I talk about one in the video I'm editing to go up next, so there's that! 😂

Love this theme! I've never actually been in a reading slump but I've had some literary rainy days for sure. Georgette Heyer is a cozy author I go to for help with this!
Ah I have authors or series I stockpile too! My dad has made fun of me for this haha.
The Farm in the Green Mountains sounds lovely and that is such a wonderful quotation.
For captions, I use [these brackets] for corrections and *the traditional asterisks* for emphasis!

I saw you mention this slump-less existence in a recent video - if only we were all so lucky! Hehe.
Your dad making fun of such a logical, reasonable tendency is beyond me. 😉
Thanks for the caption info! So many options, I'll be thinking it over 🤔

Oh, the author-backlist one is great. I do that a lot but I don't think I've heard it described before. I have little stockpiles of Seanan McGuire, Catherynne M Valente, and a few other authors, that are patiently standing by for when I need them because they're guaranteed to cure all ills.

It's comforting to know that an old favorite is always on stand by! I've actually stalled in the Wayward Children series because I'm waiting for the exact right/most "needful" moment to read them.

I have no desire to deal with rats, but to have my nearest neighbors a mile away? Paradise.

Oh, I like rats. One used to live in my compost heap and we'd leave out bread. The rotund rodent.
