I enoyed the episode with Mario and agree that there is someting to be said from both sides. Ultimately I am more in the camp of consistency from the community. If it is more acceptable from MAG and Buki to get ripped off, then it should be more acceptable for all, but like you said adam, both sides have some solid arguments.I think the community can be pretyy unhinged sometimes
I have both the Darko Anchor and Force6 Dock and they serve very different purposes for me. The Darko Anchor is great for straight barbells, but isn't really useful for specialty bars that would bump into each other if stored on the same anchor. Because the Force6 Dock is bigger it allows storage of specialty barbells (swiss bars, camber bars, etc) without the risk of your bars knocking into each other.
I agree that putting somebodys face with the product makes it more personable. Especially in this community, it's pretty special and a little tribal. Lol. I was following most of what he was saying, but when he did, the Pepsi VS Coke? That's a consumable, that's not apples to apples. He might have said that, though. Also, I agree that PRx did the right thing in the end. Overall, I enjoyed the interview. I thought you did a good job with it.
I’ve been thinking about this more and I’ve figured out why I keep bumping on Mario’s response. He admitted that he wasn’t a part of the home gym community before starting Force6. I think his quote was something like “I didn’t know home gyms were really a thing”. I get his early experience has been negative due to the controversy but instead of sitting back and listening, he keeps doubling down. It demonstrates to me that he doesn’t want to be part of the community, he just wants to make money. Which is totally up to him, but I’m never going to do business with a company that has that kind of attitude. I’m sure he’ll still sell plenty since not everyone buying home gym equipment is really steeped in the community.
People would not be upset at all if his design was better and it's not hard to imagine a more unique version with slightly different function. It's the lack of effort that makes it somehow less ethical I think. He wasn't really trying to compete on anything other than price. The backlash is silly too, copying and cutting cost is the name of the game for lots of businesses when so many people only shop by price anymore. It's to be expected and it's what the market wants.
Couple of things: 1) A rising tide raises all ships. The more people making these products and innovating in this space the better off we're ALL going to be. 2) The superior product will win. You pointed out the Kabuki Kadilac bar and MAG grips as prime examples. How many people bought the cheaper option, so the potentitial in the design, but hated to execution and ultimately ended up buying the OG product AFTER first buying the "copy" 3) He clearly copied the Barbell Anchor and was trying to capitalize on it. There's no reason for his product to be shaped like a bigger "anchor". If he'd have made it just flat across the bottom this wouldn't be an issue.
You did the right thing, and pushed back well at several points. Those purity spiralling will never be happy with you showing the other side (which has some solid points). Mario's reasoning at some points wasn't perfect, but that come out in the open is part of what a platform is for, letting people/arguments/stances fully express themselves. Nobody is interested in watching/listening to a show that just touts the "Party Line". Keep moving forward.
There's is no such thing as a minor lapse in integrity. You either have it or you don't. Mario clearly doesn't mind (putting it as nicely as possible) working in gray area of integrity. I'm not a fan, others won't care. All we can do is vote with our dollars. Anything outside of that is typically unproductive.
PRX suing Kyle would have been the dumbest thing they could have done if they had any interest in keeping the home gym community happy. If that’s how Mario thinks it makes sense he has the stance he has and how that’s opposite from the majority
My thoughts exactly. They could have sued which would have made their bad initial response look even worse. Working things out with Kyle and Vendetta was the best thing they could do.
@@fwiffo42 yep! Especially if that happened with him and his other company you think he would be against that. If I heard him right, he said he spent like 80 K then got nothing out of it.
When someone shows their heart and has clearly thought it through by explaining the state in which something would be litigated I am inclined to believe that they do not have good intentions. That portion of the convo rubbed me the wrong way more than anything else. The lesson to be learned from the PRx situation was not “Kyle got lucky” as was stated. This is all my opinion nothing to be presented as fact. DONT SUE ME BRO.

Having been theeatened with lawsuits myself, it very much irritates me when companies choose to imply or infer that kinda stuff
I do like this video after watching the interview.

I think you threaded the needle here
His squat wedge, calf block combo looks kinda cool. I dont train calves though.

Like I said - hopefully that mindset changes
