We have contributed even more to Western society than they have, yet we are just supposed to be happy with nothing while other races get everything for doing much less?? Every race should support their own, South Asians/Desis are no Different.

I don’t think so e have 4 basic groups that none of us south Asians fit into, we’re most definitely not white, not Latino, most Asians say we’re not ReAl Asians same with black ppl so it’s fair for us to have a group too
I can’t really comment on the “South Asian” label, but I feel Indians from the Asian subcontinent should be called East Indians to differentiate from Native Americans.

This "South Asia" is a sham and meaningless term/label. The term "South Asia" was coined in and popularized by American Universities when they established area studies departments. It has roots in the CIA's 'Area Studies' of 1950s-90s. It only got popularised in 1990s.
The very grouping known as 'South Asia' is a US State Department construction under a foreign policy initiative known as 'area studies' started during the Cold War. However, Indians may prefer to identify with Southeast Asia rather than South Asia.
To contain Soviet influence, the US State Department allocated money to American universities for studying the non-Western world, and the new field was called ‘Area Studies’. Under this rubric, the notion of a ‘South Asia’ was born, along with far reaching consequences of balancing India with Pakistan, and trying to ‘South Asianize’ the identity of Indians. This grouping of countries is a politically correct way of referring to former British colonies. It is the American equivalent of colonial Europe’s field of Indology.
