- active headrest failed so i had to replace it. this is how i removed my headrest. hope it can help you. disconnect battery before you start.

@@Zuntic my wife has a 2015 dodge journey but it’s the same concept , the journey was basically 2 clips I just pulled kind of tugged
@@Zuntic but to answer your question it kind of popped and once you see the clips that’s actually holding it , it’s self explanatory to put the clips Back on
The durango the headrest has a safety feature that pops the headrest pad forward in a wreck. The pad is under spring pressure, and the clip that holds it back fails overtime.
Hi mate so I have 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Had an accident airbags didn’t go off and nothing happened to them, but the headrest and the front seats belts tensioner needs replace. So I have the airbag light on. Do I need to take the airbag control module out to reset ?? I look forward to hear from you soon. Cheers

Might sound dumb but why do these have a cord on one side? Im trying to put on seat covers that require the head rest to come off to put it on. Just switched from a 2001 durango to a 2020 big difference in everything.
The cord is for the head rest deployment on a crash. They are spring loaded and one of ours failed and just about hit me in the back of the head when we were parked and not moving or in any kind of accident.
How about the rear seats? They are different..

This just happened to me yesterday. The head restraint popped open for no reason whatsoever whilst I was parking and the force was hard enough to give me a concussion. No other airbags or safety devices malfunctioned.
Can the headrest be removed? (And left off, or does it have to be installed? )

Ok dumb question, but whappens if you don't disconnect the battery first?
To be honest i did not disconnect it before i unplugged it but it just to make sure the electric system does not react to the change in the system when it is unplugged.
Did you buy the headrest online or salvage yard?
On Ebay from salvage yard.
Did you just buy an oem replacement headrest? Aren't you afraid of it deploying again? Or even on the drivers side?
I bought a junkyard pull off ebay. Yes i am worried that it will do it again and the possibility of the drivers side headrest doing the same thing.
@@Zuntic Mine did the same thing a couple days ago. Your video is very helpful for when/if I replace it. If you haven't yet you should file a complaint with the NHTSA.
I did the day it happened.
Dodge has extended the warranty on this for 10 years so if you have this problem check with your Dodge dealer first. May replace it for free.
OUR DEALER JUST DENIED THE CLAIM ON THIS!
