Great recap. I laughed last year when many of the TH-cam watch ‘experts’ said Rolex was moving away from steel and would soon be an all precious metal brand, leaving steel for Tudor. As Marco illustrated, demand falls off a cliff.
My advice to those of you frustrated with the wait to buy from the AD at MSRP; consider the two tone watches.
Good advicd and definitely looking back in hindsight there were A LOT of wild predictions lol. The market is definitely moving and shaking so it will be interesting to see what jappens in the next year or so. Hope you enjoyed this video 🙏

I keep getting videos on Roleys recommended to me, maybe the Universe is telling me it's finally time to get one😂 Unrelated but let’s say you came into some extra funds and bought a regular roley for say 20k, how much could you sell it for say in two years if you needed the cash? Do they appreciate in value over time, or do they lose worth?
If you think you're not stable enough to afford one without going broke soon, you might want to reconsider and put your money into stocks, crypto or another solid investment instead. With the right F.A or by choosing the right things to invest in, you could grow your wealth to the point where you could afford an even better watch down the line all while ensuring your financial security in same 2 years. I say this from experience, having been in your shoes before. And yes, I own a number of Rolex watches now Goodluck

Well, you should start by looking out for those from credible firms and good track records. Also, make sure the person is licensed. Personally, I use Michael, Allen Eckrich. He's good and you could also look him up too. And they're usually way cheaper than you would expect.

Daytona's and Pepsi's are the only two watches not taking an absolute hammering. By the end of the year, i see most watches being under list price.
People just aren't buying them anymore. It's that simple, I spoke to a few AD's earlier and they have all said the same thing, we're offering a lot of watches to people on the list, but quite a lot are refusing to buy. Best news i've heard all week

Hi Marco, is the yellow gold day-date 40m Onyx dial with diamond markers worth it at the new price of $53,000? It’s a bit more rare, what are your thoughts on this specific piece currently and long term?
Good question, I personally would say no as there are other models I prefer personally. It's a great looking watch but I don't see long term collectability to be as great as vintage stone dials as the quantities are significantly more in the modern vs vintage counterparts. I will be honest not 100% sure as not many are floating out there. Generally platinum does still trade over list but the gap between buy and sell is dwindling fast overall. Hope you enjoyed this video 🙏

I can order any tt dj or tt daytona from my closest ad without any purshase history. I think the tt daytona are to expensive for what you get so I have opted for a tt dj ( rose chocholate), hopfully they will sell me a steel model after that

Great video! This move from Rolex is likely to bring more balance to the market. Historically precious metal models were always significantly below retail for the most part. First, the new retail prices are going to further discourage flippers. Second, availability of precious models is likely to improve, which in turn will bring desirability down. Human beings are strange creatures attracted to what is not available.
It's tough to say what the outlook/effect it will have long term. If I'm to speculate I think this definitely hurts rather than helps Rolex. The allure of Rolex - if we are being honest - for many buyers was the profit incentive. With the lack of premium on many of even their most popular models, I just don't see how many of these buyers keep buying. Just my opinion but we'll see what happens.. hope you enjoyed this video 🙏

@@KyleSorenti platinum throughout history has been both more, and less expensive than gold. It is considered ‘rare’ because there are very few mineable deposits, even though it is relatively common in the earths’ crust.
You essentially answered your question - it’s harder to work with. The purpose of precious metals in watches is the ‘weight’, and platinum is heavier than gold. I have both yellow and white gold watches, and the platinum ones feel even more substantial.
But what this has to do with ‘bang for your buck’ is opaque to me…
(For me platinum delivers on mass. Hence, it gives more ‘bang for buck’ than gold.)

Rolex price increases may shift some of the grey-market profits to the Rolex P&L but reducing grey-market profits will likely also reduce available grey-market inventory, thus reducing Rolex sales.
But the thing is grey market dealers don't buy direct from Rolex. We buy from the general public/other dealers. So really this only hurts Rolex as especially the flippers will stop buying at the volume they were given so many models are trading under retail. We will definitely see the strength of the Rolex brand as a result.. Hope you enjoyed this video 🙏

100% agree regarding flippers but don't think this stabilizes retail. I think retail will be deeply affected as a result. We'll see what happens but the allure of owning a lot of Rolex watches was the profit incentive if we are being honest. With that gone will collectors love Rolex as much and will they really want to buy 3+ Rolex watches for their collections? We will see...

What a bizarre market. You are comparing brand new watches and used watches. Buying a used watch for less than a new one from a dealer SHOULD be the case. Now, buying a new Rolex at a discount would truly be under retail.

I admire your videos but all the watch prices you stated are much less by a few grands . Seems like you guys are trying to hold the price to get rid of your inventories in that price range.
So I mentioned in the video, the prices stated are the absolute most one would pay for a brand new complete set example in its most recent year. Not trying to hold pricing of "our inventory" just stating the price facts of each model based on this info.

Gold hs gone up by 100% since their last major price increase... OF COURSE they had to raise the PM watches... not to mention palladium is way up which makes up about 25% of the PM alloy.

💯 not sure what market you are based in, but there has been a noticeable shift in retail spending in the United States on Rolex brand watches, the market has softened to some degree and the games that an average retail buyer had to play have drastically been reduced if not gone away completely at manyAD’s.
I know more than a few people who have been able to pick up steel sports watches within a few weeks of going into an authorized dealer.
A BNIB unworn 126610LB Can be had well under retail. See one now for around 17,5 that has been listed for a year.
Most dealers will not increase their prices on the secondary market because of the new prices. If they are smart, they will leave their current listings as is, hoping the increase from Rolex will promote a sale.
TT Rootbeer and Guinness is not flipping above retail anymore, you know for sure. Don’t beat around the bush.
New TT Daytona can be found at retail from what I see.

Rolexs business model sucks. Their higher than thou attitude... At the dealer is why people buy on the secretary market... no one wants to deal with them. They will actually tell you they don't have watches when they have plenty they make over a million of them a year. They have actually fueled the secondary market to where it's actually at now today by their own haughtiness.
They should have controlled their market space...taking on the used and remarketed them.
Companies like Mercedes are equally stupid and treat you like trash when you come into buy a car.
Although I appreciate the brand Rolex and I like their watches... They are dated and have brought nothing new to the table.
As a brand it's overrated and God bless all the resellers for taking hold of what Rolex was too proud to deal with.

18k gold is only 75% gold
