      Piet
      One to think about.
      Here in Europe, in order to hunt legal in the near future we must use leadfree bullets...that changes things..a lot
      Hornady and Barnes lead the way, more or less, with there ttsx and cx bullets.
      Does 6.5 creedmore laks speed and weight for big game hunting with these bullettypes?
      Kind regards

    Pulling the trigger on a majestic animal, is the cherry on the cake. Glad you noticed the birds in the beginning, walk and stalk makes for an awesome experience allround

    All that range time and preparation, the tripod, beautiful rifle & scope setup capable of steel at hundreds of meters. Ended up taking him within slingshot range. Congrats on a hell of a good spot and stalk hunt. Rock on Piet 🤘😎

    Great video as usual and beautiful Nyala. Very well done Piet. I love such stalking through thick bush with very close encounters. I have never hunted a nyala yet but it is in my bucket lists. I love to hunt elands with that way. Your hear the famous clicks made by eland bulls with their tendon that slip over a bone in their front knees well before to see them. Even at less than 20 meters, sometimes, you don't see those beast till the last moment. For such hunt at short distance, a "big" caliber like 9.3x62 or .375 H&H magnum is perfect with a heavy round nose bullets.

    The Marlin Lever action is the famous 45-70 you'd probably want. Or one could be a little retro and get a repro Sharps 1874. Another powerhouse rifle would be a Weatherby Mk.V but they are stupidly expensive from what I've heard. It would be nice however to see some rounds I know more about turning up. Ammo like 6 dasher and 6.5SS are rounds I am just not familiar with and I couldn't even find 6.5SS in 'Cartridges of the world' probably because 6.5SS is wildcat but still. 45-70 would be a nice one to see on the channel.

    I know you said lever action 45/70 a 458 socom is similar and can be found in bolt or semi but no one can deny a 45/70 is a great bush gun

    Have you considered the 8.6 Blackout as a short-range bush gun for work like this? From what I can tell it's a cartridge capable of handling a wide range of situations. Small, light AR-10 platform with a .338 calibre bullet in a 6.5 creedmoor parent case. Twist rate is 1:3 creating some crazy penetrating ability.

    • @IMPACTSHOOTING
      @IMPACTSHOOTING  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes I have, but finding a those twist rate barrels are a problem

    In the united states not very many people hunt with a precision type gun. Here in the state of Maine in the United States, we tri to run a 30-30. - or 243 30-06 Depending on the density of the forest. But I know nobody wants to run around with a fifteen pound rifle.. Even though I tried to get a white tail last year.
    With my RPR338.LAUPA LOL But a lot of the times I use my 556 mark twelve. And do head shots at 250 yd. And put down a beautiful 10 POINT.220 pound White tail buck . I love seeing people's hunting techniques from around the world.

The thirty thirty. Because it is a Bush Gun..is the 350 legend Beautiful good bush gun. Which we put down a lot of bear and moose with... But it's also a three hundred yard gun

    I would pick a .303 British over a 45/70 lever action for this type of hunting any day of the week.

  • @splitpin1764
    @splitpin1764 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I would choose a Tikka T3x in 308 for that style of hunting, knowing it could still take game out to 400+ metres with the right loads

    Great vid. But i feel like im really at the point of giving up on firearms ownership in south africa. My license for my first gun has been approved. Just waiting for the card. But ive been trying for 3 weeks to get a printout and my local police station is just too pathetic to even do that. The DFO is on sick leave and his assistant is on maternety leave. The palookas there now have been locked out of their pc for going on week 4 now. It really just feels like running in quicksand trying to own a gun in south africa

    With all each different animals do you have been hunting. What would you say is the best tasting. For me it would be the north american elk. On the Eastern side of the United States.. The meat almost taste like it has a sense of sugar in it. So yummy

    Shot placement... center of buck 😂
    Bosveld jag still the best. Vlaktes is fun but bosveld remaims the best. Nothing like a staring contest at those close ranges to see whos making the next move you or the bok. Best bosveld gun would be a 30 cal with a heavy bullet in my opinion.
