I learned a lot about the history of the difference between the Sunnis and Shiaites. What is important are not their differences but their united hate for the infidels, Jews, as well as anyone who is not an observant Muslim. They agree on one thing for the purposes of Israel and the IDF: Total annihilation of the State of Israel and the Jewish people.
Most important was the last question and the professor's astute answer, which is that the future of the region and the West will be determined by who wins the American election in 2024. I think we all know how things will work out if the Biden/Obamas stay in power.

After the death of the prophet of Islam, there were four "Rightly Guided Caliphs" NOT Three. These were: Abu Bakr (2 yrs), Omar (10 yrs), Othman (12 yrs), and Ali (the prophet of Islam's cousin who ruled for 5 yrs). The Caliph who ruled after Ali was Muaa'wiyah). Muaa'wiyah was the first Umayyad Caliph who ruled from Damascus.

Professor Kedar misspoke, referring to Ali as the 3rd caliph when in fact he was the 4th.
Dr Kedar is an Israeli Treasure - an encyclopedia of knowledge.
For goodness sakes! The problem here ISN'T complicated at all IF you understand that there's no such thing as supernatural phenomena of any type or style, not now, not in the past or ever will be. Because supernatural phenomena cannot be validated and verified as true, just in itself, like nothing else we give credibility to, disputes are created and never decided as compared to the opposite in natural phenomenal evidential issue disputes. THAT"S the important reason to consider here. IF supernatural belief of all types are eventually, publicly known as wrong, completely wrong, I might add, all these disputes CAN be settled for completely suitable reasons, ways and means to EVERYBODY'S satisfaction and far better outcomes if and when everyone realizes that supernaturalism is entirely unaccountable and irresponsible by definition, design and intention because of the diabolical advantage in issue disputes is that it has is that it entirely doesn't exist AND as such shouldn't just exist to infinitely empower illegitimate leaders, powers and causes.
If such a realization is finally achieved, humanity will be freed from supernaturalist-based fraud and racketeering while instantly and simultaneously operate on existing natural(ist) secular, scientific-based reasoning and phenomena FOR THE FIRST TIME IN OUR NATURAL HISTORY that may be so profoundly the right thing to happen that it may save us from worldwide "Armageddon" like nothing else can or could, imho.

I take one of 2 sides to take in the argument of 3 possible alternatives. How does that "complicate" the issue, but simplify it by solution, i.e., there is only one-side to the issue now.
