I was stationed in Mannheim from 1988 to 1991 and would take my vacations in Garmisch and drive to Austria as well. I was driving my 1979 Ford pickup with a canopy one day through a town in Austria when I heard a loud thing hit my pickup roof. Somebody threw an apple on the top. No damage but it sure scared the heck out of me. It’s really beautiful country down there in southern Germany and Austria. Thanks for bringing back good memories (except for the apple part).

Thanks for a small ride through memory lane. About 56 - 57 years ago I spent summer holidays near the, then very small, village of Imst, camping with my parents in this beautiful scenery.

Out of Amsterdam my father drove the VW beetle to Imst while my sister and I slept on the backseat.
I wonder if the people there truly realize how lucky they are to live and work in such beautiful surroundings.
I think they do. They are very proud about their places and they should be. I spent a vacation with my family somewhere near Hallstatt Austria. I have never seen a more beautiful place in my life.

Diese Reise endete in Mannheim. Aufgrund eines Problems mit der Speicherkarte war das leider alles, was ich von der ganzen Reise retten konnte. Ich fühle mich noch schlimmer, dass ich das erlitten habe, aber ich bin froh, dass das Schönste aufgezeichnet geblieben ist.

Bei Ried im Oberinntal gibt es eine wirklich kurvenreiche Straße in das Skigebiet Sefaus-Fis-Ladis! Dabei handelt es sich um ein Hochplateau, das knapp an der Waldgrenze liegt! Ich hatte vor einigen Jahren das Privileg, dort umfangreiche Vermessungen durchzuführen! War echt toll! Wir haben dort gearbeitet, wo andere Urlaub machen! 😁😁😁

A great video! It's a shame we didn't see you get as far as Füssen (a beautiful town). Interesting that the Fernpass doesn't seem as steep travelling south to north, although I guess your truck felt the strain. Thanks for an enjoyable afternoon in lovely scenery. David

I have recorded the entire trip from Nauders, Austria, to Fussgoenheim Germany, but somehow many files on the SD card were corrupted. I was happy that I managed to recover the 13 files that made this video.

Very good video. It is a rather difficult drive with a truck, I have driven on these roads many times with car, even before most of the current tunnels were not yet built. I wonder what type is your speed camera finder? A reply would be appreciated!
Thank you for your appreciation. And yes its a bit challenging to drive a truck on that route, but thanks to the small car drivers that helped me in tight spaces, sharp corners and they're patience to stay behaind me at low speeds for long time, we all got home safe and sound. Thank you all! There are lots of apps for speed cameras but there are not legal in some county's and they're not reliable, I suggest always respect the law.
@@srdcro Thank you for your reply. Regarding to the speed cameras; in these days more than easy to get into the camera traps, not because one drives fast but because of the cameras locations and it is easy to overlook a few km higher driving. It is a handy reminder to look at the speed, and of course save $ as well. The old and great TomTom is no longer updates the speed cameras, the new one has only short gong sign that is easy to miss, while the old one had about three dozen sound to choose from and you could even record your own. Moreover, you could adjust the distance when it warned you therefore, it was not needed to brake you could coast to slow down. People who normally drive faster than the limit often get into trouble even with the warning at hand. I am quite familiar with the laws in different countries (I born there).

First village is Nauders Austria, near the border with Italy, after that I'm not shure, but my route was from Nauders Austria to Mannheim Germany, you can use google maps to see all the villages.
