A couple of thoughts: 1. It is somewhat perverse to criticise a solo artist for not being supported by virtuoso musicians. 2. In so far as the album can be categorised at all, what isn't Synthpop is broadly Metalcore or Nu Metal. If you don't like those, you won't like the album. The heaviest track is "The Center's Falling Out" -- so it is surprising that you didn't mention it.

It is a mixed genre album, and it's fun, but I'll only go to this album if I'm in a specific mood. It is pretty good for that mood.
