Oh I hope part 2 is not too far off!! This is absolutely fascinating and I thoroughly enjoyed learning all of this!!! Ohh that Persian resort, can you imagine?? Thank you two!! Love this
I loved this episode! I find Disney history and behind the scenes stuff so interesting!! Ik you guys said you haven’t done Keys to the Kingdom- I did it in HS- highly recommend!
Would love if you could link some of the books that you often mention! I listen while driving or walking to work a lot of the time, so it would be wonderful to be able to come back and have the links all in one place! Of course, don't mind if they're affiliate links (get your bag, Brauns! lol)
Happy you didn't mention a hotel concept called "Disney's Swiss Chalet". That was my college program project that I had to create to get the college credit for being at Disney. Whew! :)
I lived in Taiwan and that's a very common open square style building there. So they actually did have some interesting ideas there that were authentic!
I would love to hear your Disney book recommendations. I’ve read a couple by Jim Korkis thanks to your mentions in other videos, but this episode made me want to read more. Love your content! ❤
Please add the history of the “tree house villas” at Saratoga Springs to your list, if it’s not already there. Read an article once and was shocked at how long those have been around and the various uses they’ve served.
I drove around in those little boats from Polynesian. Back in the 90s, when the castle was a big birthday cake for the 25th anniversary. (It was not cute😂)
How do they do “Asia Land” and “Persia Land” (both are hugely varied cultures - also… Persia is Asia… 🤣) And then they go so hyper specific with VENICE Land?! 🤣🤣
All I can think with the Venetian resort is: this isn’t the ocean. This is swamp water. This is gonna be a mosquito-breeding, alligator-infested hell 🤣🤣🤣
Great episode! I’m curious if the environmental protection laws of today play a role into why they can’t build a resort in that area. My husband is an environmental specialist and the laws look a lot different today than they did in the 70s/80s.
I came to say the same thing as well! I would also be curious what the wetland mitigation plan would have to be if they were to build at that site. That alone can be $$$.
I must be the only person who doenst like Disneyland . I’ve grown up in southern Cali and currently still live here. I just think it’s ridiculously overpriced and too crowded. I haven’t gone since my daughter was younger, but my entire family can’t stand Disneyland lol! My friend who buys passes every year for her kids won’t be buying them this year . she said they went up so much. I also went on a Disney cruise to Bahamas about 12 years ago and too many screaming kids everywhere lol! Of course that’s to be expected, but I would never do it again …
I have no desire to actually spend that kind of money on a Disney vacation (non-married middle class no kid millennial lol) but I find this all fascinating to learn about it and to learn why people love it so much!!!
Man I missed yall during the break 😂 im STOKED for allllll the history episodes. Y’all’s knowledge is so cool for me as a lifetime Disney lover!
I LOVED this one so much!! I teach history and just plain love it. Every vacation I take I am looking for the history in it-always! ❤❤❤

I would love to see the Persian resort come to ferishion.
Maybe the MiraCosta in Tokyo Disney was inspired by the Grand Venezia!
The Asian inspired hotel reminds me a lot of Aulani in Hawai'i. Especially the concept art of the lobby. And the open square design.
Fascinating! Shame they never did some of these planned resorts!
In the 90s, they had a ton of FL resident tix for $19.95 a day. Maybe they weren’t able to afford to build.
The concept art for the Asian hotel tower looks similar to Swan and Dolphin.

I wonder if they shy’d away from the water activities due to the alligators and liability?

I came to comment the exact same thing! The laws have changed so much and I assume that’s one of the reasons they can’t build in certain spots.
This is so interesting, that didn’t even cross my mind!

I grew up loving Disney and am sad they went so woke 😢but I’d watch paint dry if you two put it out lol
