Good job, unfortunately in a couple of weeks the super glue will break the shoe fabric in several cracks, first of all use industrial glue for canvas shoes with rubber so the shoe will last a little longer with flexibility.
Lol...the main point in mentioning that was because the sole separation, which is a common trait with beat pairs, started to happen way earlier than they should be. I never claimed mine were actually beat. Have a good day folks!
When I saw the thumbnail I legit thought you were going to keep the tape on and just paint over it 😂. I will follow my fellow commenter’s advice and use a different type of glue, but nevertheless this was really helpful.
Without a doubt i would recommend barge cement for a long term solution but this was made with the intentions of using things around the house. Dont goof up like me and remember to take the tape off before it dries. Good luck!
the most durable technique is going to a cheap shoemaker and asking if he can double stitch that all around like 2 line of stitching amd here you go a vans shoe that can old 5years or even more
nice. i skate so i've done all kinds of shoe repairs over the years, posted some videos too. i usually use contact cement for foxing separation. i like the tape to keep the edges clean, that's not something i had considered. my shoes are usually pretty well beat by the time i'm gluing them back together, so i'm not usually super worried about aesthetics
I've using this method in the past on my chucks they hold up good but after long time what happened is the canvas upper got ripped because the part with super glue became hard and now I'm using barge cement glue or shoegoo or kind of glue similar to that.
Flimsy as fuck, I got the all black high tops and the toe of my shoe looks like a flat tire, havent worn much only 2 months old, pretty much just for skating. I got some older chuck taylors that have held up much better.
Thanks bro. My brother gave me a old pair of vans beacse he didnt want them i couldn't were them in that condition but now that theres a way to fix this problem i will have vans that i can rock a school whooohooo
Try a much stronger glue if possible! That way itll last much longer. This was meant to be a temporary solution but with the right glue it could hold a good while.
For those saying cup soles don't have this issue.. I assure you they do after some time. I'm fixing my kyle walker pros with this method, only with contact cement
My converses separated right on that spot lol. Why I’m here and hell I got to replace an eyelet as well,, but like your shoe here. Mine has life left and I don’t feel like spending another $70 on a pair of shoes yet
this video is really helpful tho. do you mind to share how you clean (and the cleaner) your vans especially the midsole? because mine will be beaten and dirt af till the sole separate like in your vid
For the price i dont complain. But when i bought the weatherproof mte i didn't believe the weatherproof part so much bc when i walked in the snow for 30 minutes i felt water inside. But i expected at least for the sides to last longer, hoping for better glue. But that was the last time i bought expensive vans.
Is the adhesive you used flexible enough? I glued my Vans with a flexible adhesive but they still came loose and now the rubber is cracked in that area. What can I use?
I think this glue dries the rubber a little bit and makes it less flexible, maybe there's a better glue for this, if you've found one let me know:) So far I am using the same CA type glue for the same fixes but I have this concern!
Gorilla glue does not flex at all. Soon as you take a step does it not come loose? Seems like you would recover a rubber/ flexible type glue like shoe goo
I've worn Vans since the 80's and finally got tired of this separation problem. Happened on every pair I owned. Wear Sperry boat sneakers which are built way better and I don't look like Bart Simpson anymore.
so I have a pair of suede high top vans, would this work? the separation is a bit more severe... idk I just love them and don't want to have to throw them out
This happened to my Nike blazers and I haven’t even had them for a year and last time my converse had this problem and I put glue and it ruined the shoe
If they make a solution for this problem, people will need longer time to buy vans again. They keep their product like this to make people buy vans again in shorter time
@@priamasak6104 That's the exact reason why I'm considering other type of shoes now. Got my vans sides stitched up when it started to tear. But it looks a little funny with the stitching (although still all right).. But I'm still considering spending my money elsewhere on the next shoes.

Nice tape technique
Which one is much effective?? Gorilla glue or barge glue??
Vans need to stitch that together and maybe cut out a v on that part to add a softer material and it might even go well with their brand.
Look up vans cup sole
The thing about shoes with stitched soles is the stitching gets torn up even quicker than the rubber when skating
FullmoonEffects89 no bro he need to clean the area that took of with acetone reapply bonding cement and then clamp together and he’s done
I think any changes to the old shoe model would anger lots of people. I think they should try that but for a seperate model.
@@Kevin-hp2zx that and the soles are thicker and clunkier. No board feel
Four years after you posted this originally, you’ve helped me save several pairs of canvas shoes. Thanks so much!!
I have that same pair and just noticed the separation, I haven't even had them for that long. I'll try this, thanks!!
I have white one i juss notice my mom told me 🙁

him:the shoes are not dead yet they have some times(they seem brand new)

I know right? Those look fucking brand new!
I skated some shoes till half the sole tore away
Skaters always pull up with giant holes in the canvas and sometimes even the soles are ruined too

Barge cement is the best.
@@stoneyjosephine super glue

Loctite superglue works too.
Even better if you can clamp the area, leave it to set o/n.

howd it go?
kevin. Well i just tried it and imma let it dry for a day. Let the glue and the shoe get to know each other.

I put mine in the washing machine... WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE.
what happened
You wash them with towels, put some on the bottom and put the shoes in the middle, cleans them safely
Just did this lol, Shits are pretty much ruined :/
I saw a mexican brand sew the sole to the shoe, i thought it was smart and since they make their shoes out of leather it looks cool
super glue dries really hard and brittle. when it cracks the canvas cracks as well.
