Correction. The Afghan war didn't create Pakistan's deep state. Pakistan military state was present at the creation in 1947. The war fortified the military state. This is a Jihadi state within a state. The Jihadi state is a state of its own with its own economic sector. Military generals ensure that soldiers of Punjab are well-fed. They are paid by the American tax-payers via lenders from the I.M.F. They are not accountable to anyone except to the Americans.
