What a woundrous place! Thank you so much!
Thank you.!
Been there lots, great video👍🏻
I learn much about your videos...!
Love your videos Paul , keep them coming .
Black Star thank you very much indeed. that's very kind of you.
Very nice
Thanks for watching Samaresh.
Nice video.
The birds are building in the cliff in order to deter attacks from predatory birds.
Another great film Paul, hoping to visit that coastline soon.
A Wild Life Thanks for that. I do hope you enjoy it!
Amazing shot, love birds more lovely photography.Thank! Paul.
yujin landscape photography. Thank you!
Paul Miguel Photography Good morning! Thank! Paul.
Exellent shots, always enjoy and look forward to your videos, roll on the next one.
pete fairs cheers Pete. glad you're enjoying them.
Amazing shots! Gannets are beautiful birds, have yet to see one!
WildlifEmily thank you! I'm sure you'll see one some day.!
Great video Paul. I really enjoyed it. My only complaint is that it was too short. I could watch them for hours.
Pauline Follett thanks Pauline. most of my videos are around 7 minutes long, but I agree this one was a bit too short. I'm hoping to make some longer videos moving forward. This one was a bit rushed to be honest!
great video paul , i will be over to bempton soon.
doug jarvis great Doug. Enjoy!
Good video Paul. Love the first Gannet image: had to go back and look again.
pete draper Nice to know. I very much like the one landing above the group.
I love that east coast, I’ll be heading to RSPB Bempton Cliffs (which now has amazing access for the disabled) in a few weeks if I’m well enough. The gannet is a stunning bird, I personally think they are the bonniest of all our birds. A brilliant "British summertime" video that I really enjoyed, thanks Paul.
Mark Harris I hope you can get there Mark. week days are much quieter if you can manage it. thanks for your positive comments, as always.
Very enjoyable video. We have a great Guillemot colony near us at Stack rocks, Castlemartin. Only trouble is its on a military firing range so is not always open- Sunday mornings are usually ok though.
Elaine Turpin sounds good Elaine. have you managed some nice images there?
Yes got some quite nice ones of Guillemots and some Razorbills. First time I went I arrived to find my camera battery was almost flat and (stupid me!) no spare in my backpack. Needless to say there were loads of photo opportunities that day :-((
You got some great shots and lovely footage, Paul. I went there back in 1998, shooting on slide film (remember film?!). Would love to go back sometime. Your video brought back memories of a wonderful place for me.
BadgerBotherer1 I'm so glad this video brought back fond memories for you. yes i remember film,... sometimes I think it would be better going back to it!
Paul Miguel Photography Last time I went to the Farmers Islands was just before I switched to digital. Made an exposure error on my Sandwich Tern shots and all were ruined. Wish I'd had digital then to check the images on the screen!
BadgerBotherer1 we've all been there! Digital is great for checking, but sometimes you just don't have time. A good understanding of your camera is still so important when shooting wildlife.!
Paul Miguel Photography Yep. User error on my part. By the way, meant to say Farne Islands, not Farmers - bloody autocorrect. Keep up the great videos! J.
Hi Paul. I'd love to get to Flamborough one day soon (bit of a trek from South Wales !!) as I've always wanted to get images of Gannets. Always looks a great location and seeing your images makes me want to go even more now. Your shot at 2.17 is an absolute stunner - the framing and light are outstanding ! Also impressed with the unique way you carry your tripod with the gimbal head and long lens on - cracking idea. Really enjoyed the video Paul. Many thanks for sharing.
Tim Scanlan Hi Tim. Thanks very much. I wouldn't say any of these images are stunners but I do like the portrait with the foreground. I'm thinking I might do a video on tripod tips, that would include how to carry it comfortably. Truth be told, with a 500mm on, there's no reall comfortable way to carry it!
Let me recommend a Hoodman HoodLoupe Outdoor LCD Viewfinder so you can see your screen. In bird photography a lot of us have them. They are one the best things you will ever buy and wonder how you lived with out.
Bill Joel hi Bill. thanks for that suggestion. I will try to check it out!
I liked to go and shot in Flamborough Head. I saw in your video that the escarpment is far from the fence, how can we shoot on the spot and see the sea birds? I love your photos. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much
Thanks Carla. Some of the video was also nearby at Bempton Cliffs. At both Bempton and Flamborough there is usually a fence. There are many places at Bempton where Gannets nest closer to the fence - you might not be able to see the nest, but they will fly in very close so there is no worries about getting close enough!
@@PaulMiguelPhotography, thank you very much, Paul.
Nice video Paul but I think that you was at RSPB Bempton Cliffs as I recognise a couple of the spots, Because I live just 5 minuets away and go there a lot.
Hi Steve. Part was YWT flamborough, part was RSPB Bempton. I used to call the whole stretch Flamborough but I guess that’s not technically true.
@@PaulMiguelPhotography Hi Paul thank you for the quick reply, love your work and wish I had part of your skill just started in bird photography and wish I had the time to do a couple of workshops but I am only available on weekends. If you ever want company at Bridlington/Bempton area look me up.
Cheers Steve. And thanks for the support.
Nice video Paul. It hadn't occurred to me that the razorbill had yellow inside its beak! I once went to this site many years ago and did really poorly, so I was very impressed by your images and it did make me wonder if I went to the right place? :-D
Those razorbills are great - and the guilemots too. You'd never know until they open their mouth and you're shocked by the bright yellow colour!! Bempton isn't the easiest place for the best shots. I try to stick to one or two spots and make the most of it. It really depends from year to year where most of the action is.
i see these high iso and think does noise only happen at night newbie
That is a huge lens, 500 mm. Great shots of the birds. Colors just jumped out . Is your histogram always on? I see the problem with the sky and brightness. I have a large hat that covers the back of the camera so I can see the screen. I have to try the historgram.
Don Jones
Hi there. yes, I use the histogram all the time. nice idea with the hat!
Could you do video how you edit your photos. Greetings from Finland.
Onni Rantanen greetings Onni. I prefer to do in the field videos, but I will take your suggestion on board.
Great upload, I have to ask tho, I have just purchased a Benro GH2 gimbal head and there seems to be a split of people that use their gimbal at either the left or the right of the lens/camera. It would seem that having it to the left would allow any adjustment to tension/drag easier?? is there a "correct" orientation" or is it just operator preference?
ozmid40scouple I have the original GH1 sidekicker, and I hope yours gives you all the joy and service mine has given me. It’s been a phenomenal gimbal head and is still as good as new and because of disabilities, which is why I use a sidekicker, I’m a lot tougher with my kit. I have mine to the left of the lens as cameras are right handed.
Thanks Mark, I did a lot of research before settling on the GH2 as my longer term plan is to get a large prime (currently suing the Nikkor 200-500)….yes using it to the left seems to be more practical as it allows you to "adjust" the knobs without letting go of the camera grip?? I only ask as there seems to be a fairly 50/50 split on how people use them....
ozmid40scouple this is a great question, something I thought about myself. I would agree that it seems easier to adjust on the left side, however, it's good technique to drape a hand (left) over a long lens when shooting (reducing vibration) so this can be a little more awkward. that said I still prefer it on the left, so I stick to that now. it really doesn't matter so long as it's comfortable for you.
my back hurts just thinking about what you're hauling lol
Mine does too sometimes...
