@@hazeltade3679 i didnkt know they where gonna do that, I thought someone was joking when they said that the pull the girl into pieces and dance with her dismembered body parts
Remembering the time when I saw this musical, and me (being a teenager that can handle some scary things) seeing the Veruca doll getting torn making my heart pound while I cry a bit after
How they did it. 1:11 as you can see in this scene, Veruca climbs up the conveyor. When she is up at 1:15, a polystyrene model of her replaces her but wears same clothes. The rigid animation is all thanks to a set of hinges and sockets. When they rip her up, that’s the polystyrene’s act as the painted mannequin is torn limb by limb. 😊
Even with my knowhow on musicals and their usage of props, this is STILL unsettling. But ohhh boy, if I saw this when I was younger, I would have nightmares.
There was a production in Perú. It was quite cheap, but that's understandable. An user in the comments asked how Veruca was still alive, and the guy who posted the video said "Well, her father believes she's still alive. That's why she hears Veruca screaming for help"
This is from the Broadway version, and would also go on to become Veruca’s fate in performances outside of the US & UK. In all of the prior performances, Veruca’s comeuppance is being dumped down the garbage chute along with her father.

Omg I mean, I’ve heard theories that wonka was a psychopath, but ripping veruca to pieces is insane. Was not expecting that
Yeah in another boot, even he was horrified by that
I- I thought someone was joking when they said this happened
Same
There is a place for horror in children’s media but this is way too far especially when this audience was probably full fo VERY young children

It’s a puppet
I saw this musical as a kid and it was legitimately one of the scariest thing I had ever seen
i'm so sorry for your childhood lol
Same

You do realize it’s a dummy
Wait,this was for children?
I can't imagine the eruption of screams from horrified children in the audience
Can confirm. I was there as a kid LMFAO 💀
She is a spoiled brat, but good lord, this makes me feel sorry for her!
Nah, I think its only fair. Getting your limbs ripped out is a fair punishment for being annoying.
that was a dark dark turn
Everyone is pleased that Veruca Salt is a Bad Nut.
I went to go see this musical as a birthday gift from my parents, I ran out of there crying and screaming, worst birthday present ever.
This gave me nightmares.... I swear-
The nightmarish ballet of Veruca Salt getting torn apart. She was a Bad Nut.

Smart
This escalated quickly from a exaggerated take on Veruca Salt's part to a kid-friendly portrayal of Happy Tree Friends.
Rest in Pieces 💔
Uhm excuse me what!?!?!?!?!
how did a kids movie become so horrifying
Yeah violet beauregarde explode and veruca ripped by squirrels
I didn’t remember seeing this in the book or movie
She just got thrown in the garbage chute that’s all, except for the fact that that’s where the incinerator is.
It’s only in the broadway version
Good thing that no actors were harmed in the making of the musical.
This was scary when I saw this play
Even with my knowhow on musicals and their usage of props, this is STILL unsettling. But ohhh boy, if I saw this when I was younger, I would have nightmares.

But you’re not Veruca
The way the doll just rips it looks like they really riping her apart
What have you done Broadway?!
This is just terrifying.
The Squirells: Mother Russia made us badass.
Yeah this seems perfectly reasonable

I hope kids never got nightmare from this
Remind me again which version of the musical had her ripped apart and which one just had her thrown down the shoot
She was thrown down the chute in the UK, and ripped apart on Broadway
Omg this dark
that was so funny jerry
What happens after?
They each throw a piece of her down the bad nut chute then she cries for help, and her father goes in after her.
