I'm quite sad that it was not David Suchet who played Poirot in the movie. He was and still is the perfect Poirot. No other actors has embodied the character as long and as deep as he was. He had said he will be happy to make a Poirot movie. Not saying that John Malkovich or Kenneth Branagh did a bad job, but there has been already a perfect cast for the role. All the fans know that. I hate that Hollywood tended to cast a more famous name rather than the perfect actor for the role.

I haven't seen this yet, but I knew there were at least 5 *Bradford* locations, and now I've just spotted a 6th in this trailer. *Peaky Blinders* fans (as well as fans of at least 100 other films and TV shows) will be familiar with a few of them. 1 - *Bradford City Hall* upstairs = *Scotland Yard* in The ABC Murders, and *The Birmingham Midland Hotel* in Peaky Blinders. 2 - *Bradford City Hall* downstairs aka *Bradford Police Museum* = Most likely also *Scotland Yard* in The ABC Murders, as it was used as the prison cells in Peaky Blinders. 3 - Warehouse between *Cater Street* and *Hick Street* in *Little Germany, Bradford* as well as other areas of *Little Germany* = Unknown location in The ABC Murders, and *Tommy's Factory* in Peaky Blinders. 4 - The village of *Saltaire* in *Bradford* = *Albert Terrace, Victoria Road* and the real life *Salts Mill* double for areas of *Andover* in The ABC Murders, and *Salts Mill* again can be see a few times where Ada and Freddie are usually hanging about near a canal and a bridge in Peaky Blinders. 5 - *The Bradford Club* aka *The Bradford Gentleman's Club* = Unknown location in The ABC Murders, and an unknown location in Peaky Blinders as I've never been inside it before, and can't tell what it was used for by looking at pictures. 6 - *Keighley Railway Station* in *Keighley, Bradford* = *King's Cross Station* and/or *Cheltenham Spa Railway Station* in The ABC Murders, and a Birmingham based station in Peaky Blinders.
There's only one real Poirot and we all know who he is. This is just one of those characters who has been perfected so well by one actor that it's not worth trying to re-invent him. Enjoy the old show. It's still so much better than 90% of current tv shows.

Malkovich's older, sadder Poirot is an interesting take on the character. Not the most appealing or faithful to the character in Agatha Christie's writing, but I'm glad we got to see him give his take on the role in a one-off.
These are all vanity projects, don't worry too much about it. Over the top acting and the "night of too many stars" casting says that nobody is really taking this too serious.

I have read that there are nuances to Poirot's character that the preview doesn't begin to convey, so will have to wait and see.
I think it's an objective fact that literally no one working in film today is worse at accents than John Malkovich. If they were going to cast him as Poirot, which they shouldn't have done at all, then they should have rewritten the character to be American. Unfortunately he will likely wildly shift from all manner of absurd hybrid American-Russian-English-Irish-French-Australian-Polish-German-South African accents all the way through the entire running time of the series, and maybe only once or twice accidentally coming close to a Belgian accent for a word or two.
Yeah, on bbc it already aired and I can tell you the accent is quite bad. It's almost like he forgets every 5 minutes that he has to talk with an accent. It isn't a huge problem tho; the show is still good, exept some extreme drama scenes that aren't in the book.
There is no Hastings. Although to be honest, he is mostly important on narrative perspetive in this poirot story. He does a bit to develope Poirots character as well but overall he isn't that important here. I would prefer his appearance of course but i think it could work without him.

I watched it last night and as a longtime fan of Agatha Christie (with the ABC Murders being one of my favourite Poirot novels), I must say that I absolutely love it, and I think it surpasses Christie's original story. It might be my favourite Agatha Christie adaptation ever. Also, what's that music in the trailer? I love it.
Was this really necessary? David Suchet, who IS poirot, just finished filming all Poirot stories 4 years ago. Anyone playing Poirot now will make a lame impression, after the amazing Suchet. Being a good and famous actor like Branagh and Malkovitch dosn't mean that they would be good as Poirot. Stop making Poirot films for at least 30 years
I watched this today, not expecting to enjoy it much. I actually really liked it. Yes, it takes major liberties from the novel, but it is really well acted and written. The accent I think, was a deliberate choice. A person for whom French is their native language but lived in England for over twenty years would sound a bit odd. Anyway, I liked it a lot and I hope people give it a chance.
I read the book and I really liked the plot! I love reading books, not knowing how they are going to end immediately and that was the case. I just hope that the movie will be as good as the book!

Personal Opinion, Lady Agatha's works fit better in either Made-for-TV Movies or TV mini-series formats(kinda like Steven King), which would've given Branagh more freedom & the Actors more time....
When did we lose the ability to tell a story? Remove the self-indulgent, quasi-mysterious twaddle and you’d have enough left over for a one hour drama. But it’s difficult to say whether it would be any good? No wonder the schedules and content libraries are 90% full of foreign produced drama. They are the only people who haven’t disappeared up their own arseholes, unlike the BBC.
I get remakes usually are trash, but what about the generation that knows nothing of certain series, especially those idk, in black and white. You’ll get some into the story but it’s not uncommon for others to delve back into the originals. The market in our time period is pretty saturated to begin with. Even if they casted this right, it might not do any better.

Well written. Well acted. I enjoyed every minute. Malkovich's portrayal of Poirot is different but gripping.

Unfortunately you are right. I like John Malkovich I really do but he cannot do any accent apart from his own with hints of "what was that??!"...

Absolutely the worst Poirot adaptation I’ve ever seen including the pretty crappy recent Hollywood movie. This was DIRE.
@The Fonz(eeeehhhh.....[while giving 2 thumbs up ;D ]) -- Now i'll play the Devil's Advocate on "Murder on the Orient Express" and say Kenneth Branagh(Lockhart from Harry Potter and The Chamber Of Secrets) did the best he could given Today's overtly sensitive audience. He himself Loves Christie's works and was as faithful to the source as allowed . Personal Opinion, Lady Agatha's works fit better in either Made-for-TV Movies or TV mini-series formats(kinda like Steven King), which would've given Branagh more freedom & the Actors more time....

Remove the self-indulgent, quasi-mysterious twaddle and you’d have enough left over for a one hour drama. But it’s difficult to say whether it would be any good?
No wonder the schedules and content libraries are 90% full of foreign produced drama. They are the only people who haven’t disappeared up their own arseholes, unlike the BBC.
I get remakes usually are trash, but what about the generation that knows nothing of certain series, especially those idk, in black and white. You’ll get some into the story but it’s not uncommon for others to delve back into the originals. The market in our time period is pretty saturated to begin with. Even if they casted this right, it might not do any better.

I feel that John Malkovich could've pulled off Alexander Bonaparte Cust, while I think Jean Reno should've taken on the role of Hercule Poirot.

It was awful, they completely re wrote Poirot into someone unrecognisable!!!!!!!!!!!!!
