Hello all! This is the first time i've ever made something like this! I know it needs improvement, and it switches shading/style halfway through but it was all for good fun! I also know it may not make a lot of sense if you've just randomly clicked this so let me provide story exposition
These are the main 2 oc's for a webcomic i'm making called The Pirate and the Princess! A base summary:
Kirianna is set to an arranged marriage, on her engagement night a band of pirates raid her kingdom and take her away for ransom. Instead of being afraid she befriends them and falls for the pirate Captain, who has spent a lifetime chasing down a man named Samuel Carlisle, who hurt him as a child (resulting in horrid scars all over). Captain falls for her as well, and together they attempt to put an end to Samuels reign of terror.

I found this completely on accident but this is one of the better animatics I’ve ever seen!! The art is fantastic, there’s a storyline that almost made me cry and your emotions are ON POINT! It is a CRIME you’re so underrated! I seriously would read a book about these two!

I love how she stabs the guy with a smile on her face in that one panel
if that does happen that guy deserves it.
I watched this like nearly ten times in the last half an hour and holy chocolate biscuit!
1. it is the first animation you ever made and you nailed it
2. It is gorgeous! They characters in the background are amazing and the coloured part in the end, hach... My artist soul is pleased! The colours are so clear yet so suitable together, the lineart is clean and perfect and you barely see it.
One thing I often pitty in animatics is, that the eyes and hair always stay the same (especially in first animatics). But the hair, especially hers was so flows and beautiful and the eyes changed expressions right when it was needed
3. The little comments really catched my eye! No one sings this song or is in this situation without here and there a little comment, it's just to humorous at some parts
4. The story in the animatic is wonderful! I see a lot of beautiful animations, but yours had a brilliant storyline and some retrospectives with whose help you can see a lot if the whole story, yet you want to read or watch it, because it is gorgeous.
5. Can we talk about the expressions? I mean... All is gorgeous, but the expressions are that what makes me say that this is the best animatic I've ever seen. The shrug of the shoulders from the background character who talks first, great! Her grip on the robes and then she laid it on their arm... It's definitely a thing a lot of couples do. But one of the best thing was them touching their scar and her who... Hm... Yeah I guess you could say she pulled them out of their trance and it is so real! It was a traumatic situation for both of them, but according to the video even more for them. Most of the people develop a tick that always occurs when they are deeply reminded of it, a grip on something that reminds them of it is the most taken choice (a good example is katara from avatar and her necklace who reminded her of hr mother's death)
So it is more than realistic
All in all it is my favorite animatic till now, but who knows, I see you've done a few more videos ☺️
You've done an amazing job, especially for the first animation you did

This video made me read your series and I have NO regrets of doing so. (It has also inspired me to do a pirate love story)

Song suggestion for these two, 'Tes Blessures' from the French pop musical 'Robin Des Bois' - basically a musical version of Robin Hood entirely in French, as with most French musicals rather than being a play with some songs worked it it's more like a concert with bits of dialogue thrown in. But the point of the song I suggested it that the chorus is basically "Tell me of your wounds, I'll tell you of mine". It suits them and that's what love involves sometimes, being able to open yourself up to your vulnerability and to let someone else know about it

I just realised that bit at the opening (around 0:04) sounds like the 'noble Maiden Fair' song from 'Brave' - think you could do an animatic to that song with this webtoon? The crew singing it on a quiet night on the ship or see a flashback of Kirianna Emile singing it or listening to it in the nursery as children

QUESTION WITH A SLIGHT SPOILER:
Does Captain like her name? Maria I mean. I'm guessing that it was the name the people at the religious orphanage she was raised in the first few years of her life her, what I want to know is if she still feels like a Maria after everything she's gone through. Don't get me wrong though, Maria suits her, so does M and Captain. Just wondering how she feels about her name.
Am I right in guessing that even if the orphanage wasn't cruel in the sense of didn't beat her for no reason it was still a fairly grim place to grow up, one of those ones with rules for everything and where she's told she should be grateful that she's allowed to live there and should be grateful even if she never got adopted if she got sent to work as a maid for rich people? Did I read that situation right or did I miss it the point completely?
Good question(s)! Maria does like her name, she likes who she is, even if deep down she has a sense that she's not 'good enough'. Never had to think about it but her parents most likely gave her her name and she was old enough when she went to the orphanage to parrot it back to people when they asked. And it was definitely a strict but good orphanage. they loved the children but it was very poor and slightly run down
@@sapphiredraws I'm glad she had some love in her life before Richard and Samuel arrived to ruin it. Think I mostly thought of the 'be lucky if she gets sent to work for rich people' scenario because I could honestly see her somewhat bitterly smiling and saying "Can you imagine it? Being considered lucky if we got to spend the rest of our lives scrubbing other people's dirty dishes and wiping horses*** off other people's shoes?" and then adding "Though I guess if any good came out of what life ended up handing me it was that I learned there are worse things to happen to a person." I'm glad she likes her name, like I said it suits her in two completely different way - it suits her one way when we see the flashback of the little girl in the pink dress in the religious orphanage and in a completely different way now that we see her in her sailing clothes (both in Adrians memory of the day she beat him and now in her captains clothes and new hairstyle) if that makes any sense.
I wonder, did she ever feel like that was really her, the girl in the pink dress I mean. Did she feel out of place or like something was missing back then or didn't;t she really know that that wasn't the real her because it was all she knew and she was content with what life had handed her so far? I remember you said in a Q and A that Captain feels comfortable enough to wear dresses but prefers not to, just got me wondering if she ever felt like the girl in the pink dress was ever really her? Though I guess one way or the other too much has happened to her for her to ever be that girl again. Does that make sense?
