I enjoy watching Aladino performing magic with his skills in boat building. Working with wood, fiberglass or even painting. Methodically each task is a Masterpiece and precise. The way Maya encapsulates the story through each episode keeps me wanting more. Keep up the excellent work.

Top tip. Use cling film to line your roller tray so you can reuse the tray as many times as you want. Food bags can also be used so you can reuse your plastic mixing/paint pots. Much cheaper than buying the liners or a new tray everytime.

I’ve liked your sailing video a lot, but I have to admit, that these build episodes are also very pleasing. Diligence and craftsmanship combined with quality video production deserve respect. Not forgetting the music I like, thank you.

Aladino’s craftsmanship is, as always, stunning. Which brings me to a thought, that I thought, I might share. I find both of your working styles to be very relaxing, Aladino’s is bordering on Zen like. So I was thinking that you may share full length videos, or realistically 45 minutes to an hour of simply watching him doing his hand crafting. With nothing but the actual sounds in the background. I know I would watch them!

      I agree!
Funny thought, if I was there to help, I’d probably find myself not working, but watching!

As Maya hasn't spoken, I will only comment that filming as he works would be either boring or take infinitely long to shoot. You could easily spend all afternoon to shoot just making one mortise in a beam if you actually wanted to show how it was done.

You both have beautiful music within, the way you move with each other and the boat, the words you string together.. And Maya the way you play. Thank you. Your kindness shines with all you do.

Being from Texas, I love when violinist learn and love to play the fiddle style as well as classical. We Texans love our country music and feel like it's not country/western unless it includes a fiddle and a steel guitar. That said, you young lady, are extremely talented and gifted. Love the western style with a bit of blues. I know what it takes to play fiddle and you are GOOD. Thanks for sharing.

Please come to Texas and experience all of our Fiddle Contests. You could win every single one of them with your phenomenal style! Love your Sailing Magic Carpet videos and your The Musician Girl videos. I am a devoted Fan of both channels! I have watched every single video. Keep up the great work. I look forward to your new videos. I am learning so much from both channels!

Painting can be done by just about anyone but painting correctly to avoid flashing and get the most out of your product is a true art and keeping a wet edge is the 1st lesson in painting correctly nice to see aladno teaching Mia that art bit by bit.

It’s easy to suggest what others should do with their boat, i to have the “if this was my boat” syndrome.
It’s just a nice thought exercise to imagine the dimensions and all the custom work.
And if I owned this boat in this stage of rebuilding I would add a small dog house with two inside love.seats with an enlarged opening into the kitchen like a small dry loft and inside steering position with an added steering wheel. And place the footwell all the way back to the transom. And I add a reversed tiller wind vane steering setup so the lines are attached at the elongated back end of the tiller so no lines in the cockpit to steer the tiller, instead you could put it upright leaving the back end to steer. The doghouse idea has no chance but I think if you see the wind vane set up you’ll consider it as a great space saver. I’ll add the link with the guy who build himself one in the next comment.

I mentioned it before and seeing a new episode I would still suggest two hammocks hanging side by side in the middle of the seating area an arm length apart maybe in a slight V shape for those relaxing movie evenings or just reading with an oil lamp.
But always moving along with any wave when at anker or at see.
Personally I’d get 4 nicely shaped metal strips wit hooks on the outside and efficient screw or bolt holes to tie it neatly into a deck beam.
People really underestimate the relaxation you get from not having to brace yourself.as the boat moves.

If you guys want to fill those wood grain streaks - grab some bondo and spread it super thin....then sand...then use your high-build primer and sand again - it'll be smooth as glass. I know you know this...and I know you don't want to use bondo, but that's what it's for and that's why it exists ;)

Good point regarding the epoxy thermic reaction. There is another nasty one that I have encountered with unfortunate results. Be very aware of Linseed oil and turpentine mixed together. As a carpenter I re-built a kindergarten after the lovely but unaware teacher had mixed the two oils together and used some rags to apply the mix to some timber play ground balancing planks to preserve them. Afterward she bundled them together and stashed them in the store room for another day. They self combusted and burned down half the kindergarten. Lucky it was a stand alone building within the school grounds. Love the vlogs Maya and Aladino they accompany my Saturday morning breakfast every week here in Aus. Can't wait till splash day!

Doing all that meticulous work besides a regular job would turn the refit into a 10-year-project at least. I lack the patience to be as perfect and always aim for "good enough" which is a very personal judgement anyway. My motorcycle received quite an intensive makeover, but clearly is far, far from the complexity and multitude of tasks you face. Remaining calm and positive and looking forward to the next steps is a quality of both of you I came to admire. Keep up the great work! There is one benefit of going the right instead of the quick way: You will rarely have to say "We should have done this correctly" when you and Magic Carpet II are back on the water.

  • @ApexWoodworks
    @ApexWoodworks 2 ปีที่แล้ว

My suggestion as far as painting by non-spraying methods would be to apply it with a roller then tip it off with a brush. The nap of the roller is important, because that determines to a great extent the thickness. But I'm pretty sure you're aware of this method... however as you hadn't used it in this episode, I thought it worth mentioning.
Good luck with your extensive refit. It's certainly a lengthy and painstaking process, but one worth doing!

  • @JasonHampel

Its really starting to come together! :) I know nothing about boat building and restoration, but I would assume that regular old drywall mud would not be something used in a boat to fill in the wood grain to prep for painting. I'm guessing that humidity and water would make that a bad idea. What about automotive bondo? I have heard that it takes paint very well, but I'm not sure if it would be ok for moisture, or if it would just be cost prohibitive to use to fill in the grooves/wood grain to make the walls smooth for paint....

How nice to see the boat slowly growing into a beautiful sailing home! What are your plans with the engine? I can't remember you covered that topic ever, but judging from the fact that you could increase the storage behind the cockpit I assume you already made your plans
