      "The most amazing intellectual in America today..." Are you F-ing high? This guy is a MORON! Listen to what he is saying, it's among the most vacuous utterance I've ever heard. Larry Summers, then Prez of Harvard basically had this guy thrown out because of a lack of academic achievement.
      It's amazing how you MORONS on the Left are thunderstruck by IDIOCY!

      vince33x. I think it's a sad thing that you missed what Dr. West said in the time allotted and what he continues to do and say. You can scream your derision from the roof-tops. Who cares? Only you, really. How lonely. I see that you've been "thunderstruck" by the ugly solipsism that you seem to think is so fashionable. I have no religious convictions myself and I'd agree that I don't find Dr. West the "most amazing intellectual in America today". I daresay that he'd agree. That said, I'm inspired by Dr. West's integrity, kindness, and continuing pursuit of scholarship. I think that I can say with certainty that he can speak intelligently on more subjects than you. I'd happily spend my time conversing with him. I wouldn't spend that time listening to your snotty-nosed, sneering bullshit for an hour. I value my time, even if you don't. Obviously, that angers you. Too bad.

      Dumb-ass Robert, this fraud West is a devoted Marxist and Marxism & Nazism & Fascism are ALL THE SAME. Indeed, the Marxists murdered far more people than the fascists/Nazis did - by a factor of at least 12X! And you call this MORON's rant "kindness". You are the absolute personification of Vladimir Lenin's term: USEFUL IDIOT.

    • @SagesseNoir-rq5hp
      @SagesseNoir-rq5hp 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I happen to KNOW Cornel West and to have read some of his books. I had discussions debates with him going all the way back to the 1980s when I was a student. West is NOT a "devoted Marxist," but does believe that Marx (like other philosophers) has significant insights as well as weak spots in his interpretation of the social world. Cornel West actually leans more toward Pragmatism and even Christian existentialism than to Marxism. I know this not only from taking with him, but also from reading some of his books and articles--which I am sure you have not done. (i've also written critical review essays on West which have been published). Furthermore, anyone who thinks Marxism and Nazism is the same shows profound ignorance both of history and of the major ideas influencing the world in the past 100--200 years. You view of things is so myopic and ignorant that it boggles the mind. I more informed than you are today when I was in high school.

      The only reason whites dominate education and other areas is because they are white in a white supremacist society. I find it interesting how many Blacks have gotten so fabulously rich because of Western Civilization's creations: 1) Movies/TV/Entertainment/Music Industry, 2) Hoops, 3) Football, 4) Baseball, 5) the Olympics, etc. What have Blacks created?
      When Western Man landed on the West Coast of Africa in the 15th Century, they encountered a people who had NOT YET INVENTED the WHEEL! Meanwhile, Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris was about 600 years old!
      I really believe Blacks HATE Whites because of the accomplishments of Western Man - INCLUDING THE ENDING OF THE WORLDWIDE SLAVE TRADE!

I am hopeful Dr. West takes more action towards those in power in the 'Academy' Ivy League that has and continues producing those very people who are guiding American towards more crony capitalism. The 'Empire' he speaks of is orchestrated, managed, and sponsored by Ivy League leaders. Nonetheless, Dr. West, keep on keeping on.

I read and heard many of them years ago - Trilling, Bloom, Riesman, Frye, Erdman, Wilson, James Baldwin, Ella, Aretha, Malcolm et alia - and wonder if they've made any difference at all, then or now. The world seems ever more reactionary, ignorant, glib, heartless. I'm only thankful Cornel remembers them and does his best to pass their riches on to us and to the young. Do they read them, dig them, love them the way he does? I can only hope so. He's still giving me new names and stories to look up, look up to, to inspire me and to treasure. Love from London UK.

      This is actually a rather silly thing to say. Wisdom and compassion do not arise in us because we decide that we want them. They emerge, if at all, as a result of a series of life-changing experiences that usually arrive unexpectedly.

    West is such an incredible speaker. You can tell that he is intelligent, but he doesn't put it in your face or use it as a way to get people to listen to him. His intellect is secondary to his speaking from the heart. Also, him touching on enthusiasm for voting for Sanders. He just gets it. So many of us voted for Biden/Harris not because we were enthusiastic about them but because we didn't want to see Trump win whereas his base is so incredibly for him. It's interesting to see this play out 3 years later...

    I am not homophobic, Cornel. Nor is my husband and wider family. To each her own. We (vast numbers of Black, Brown, Yellow, Red and White people), resist only the State trying to indoctrinate our children in school with an Ideology which is aggressively prejudiced against the nuclear family. Education cannot be reduced to socially and politically constructed (faux) sociology and which defies most of human history in this matter. The nuclear family provides stability for the children and it is a cure for the deepest loneliness of so many adults into deep old age. The nuclear family is a school of stable (real) love, beyond infatuation and selfishness.

    17:25 Albert Einstein definitely DID NOT support Nuclear Weapons. He wrote a letter to president Roosevelt in 1939 suggesting they devote research into nuclear energy since there were strong hints that the Germans were developing nuclear weapons (they weren't). The US started the Manhattan project which Einstein did not take part in, then after Germany surrendered. He urged, even begged Roosevelt not to use them against Japan fearing the consequences. He even did an interview after the war ended that his original letter to Roosevelt was one of the biggest regrets of his life. So yeah he was about as anti nuclear proliferation as you can get.

    As an academic myself , it is always difficult for me to overlook the injustice done to blacks in general even though I now take a human-centric approach in my research. As Dr West puts it " He is in solidarity with the poor kids ".I do employ afro-centric ideas especially to address a patriachial world order .I am totally sympathetic to his idea that he can't join the Panthers due to the fact that morality is not derived by blood , race , territory affiliation. It emerges out of responsibility for the Other.This is beyond rules, laws and social contract. The subject must be decentred so that it can only comes to light when it is responsible for otherness in Others .This is exactly how Sociality is conceived.

    All ran and they got em all again. And this man is on target in his words ! What a web they wove...turning brethren against brethren, through the stages, through the ages. Seeing through your heart not what the mob rule persuasions, want you to, think. I certainly enjoyed the new feel he exudes. Time well spent, if you know what's up. He certainly sees through the veil, and speaks from the truth of mind heart and spirit. No question. He has genuine compassion. This control and power has certainly run its course through every hue of mankind out here. Words have been so mis-construed to the masses, it's the quiet boil of the frogs. He certainly sees how all got their turn, through political systems, and psychological training by systems. Yes...he is correct. Trash out daily, is a lot of truth. Congressional papers need a hard read, through. Foreign wars were not any authority given, from my notes so far. DefenCe was changed to DefenSe...check yt jenn liberty lion. Jus Cogens= no slavery !!!! Urnom Circas...Check out what popular really means. 😂 oooohhh my. Honest he is 👏👏👏👏 medea/media . Tale bearer...Good stuff ! They are tied, yes. Monopolies where the little people are getting it, as they have us torn up so as not to take over. Yes, people forget the colors and religions. Just have a darn loving heart and ability to care, as this man has said. Forget the flesh wars= lets pull by care love and all the little people, and do you research. This guy isn't my skintone, and i don't care cause i am totally on his plane of though and spirit, and that's what we all better get out here just like jesus explained. Get your heart mind and spirits together, and care together or this fake out will keep on. Remember they called the light people white trash ? Oh yeah. All were dumped off together as a slandered people out here. Many had to get on after the horrors they put onto many. Slavic slaves...all of this so conveniently, tucked away. The people need to get on and ban together. The medea, is programming too many. Staging and these "trigger" words and word associations through messaging has been at long mental harvest on minds. That's why the "thorns around the mind", the crown === keep out !!
