    It seems odd that the manufacturer doesn't make the bottom part of the rake/grapple longer like the one on Johnny 1 for the 5. Maybe a patented design problem?

    I have to agree with Christy - "Little Johnny" would have been as fast or faster BUT Big field big tractor. This is a good opportunity to demonstrate a bigger tractor for us viewers. Will next years flooding creek bring this debris back onto the field? Bonfires are always fun. You can tell, you can take the farmer and make him a software engineer and a You Tuber but - Like father like son Tim talks about the land with a special love. Maybe Katriel can use her drone skills in a different country to demonstrate Ag. processes. (Did she ever get to Milk a cow?) take care always

      @eosjoe565 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think it is the speed or size of the tractor. It is the design of that grapple. It is just awkward and I suspect it would be just as awkward if it were mounted on Johnny. Like the 4-in-1 bucket, Tim has probably convinced a lot of viewers NOT to purchase that implement. :-)

    Tim, I have noticed in a couple of recent videos that the tractor bonnet, loader and implement mounted on it tend to restrict vision quite a bit making it harder to pick things up. Have you considered a cheap reversing camera kit for a car, with the camera mounted to the loader arm and the monitor near the drivers position as a solution to this. I'm thinking along the lines of both items being fitted with a magnetic base or a vac base for the monitor when used with a cabin tractor, so a single system could be quickly added to a machine when needed, or quickly removed when needed elsewhere. Would even work for Casey 3 etc when trenching and the cab face or floor interupt your line of sight to the bottom of the trench. Just a suggestion.

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris, the manual for the 520M loader says we need 3850lbs on the 3 point hitch!!!
      This loader can lift 3600 lbs to full height.
      Quite frankly, it is over-sized for the tractor in my opinion.
      Having said that, I like it...this leaves the decisions on how much to lift to the operator, rather than to the limitations of the loader. I'm not sure if that makes sense, as it is hard to put into words.

    • @bullrun1
      @bullrun1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tractor Time with Tim maybe for the loader and using it at capacity - but certainly not for the grapple tasks at hand in the video. (Now, if we’re talking using the loader to capacity, then we agree, you need more than a box blade)

    • @TractorTimewithTim

    You really were "flying blind", not able to see what you were wanting to pick up. I think you had it right, Little Johnnie would have been a good choice for this job.

    Maybe you should get a tractor with a sloped hood so you could see better. Like that grapple.

      The new 6r has been redesigned to have more slope. It provides much more loader visibility.

    We typically have the spotter drone sending GPS coordinates to the tractor and then "grapple cam" gives you perfect visibility. Just kidding, I use a golf cart.

    This is the second time we've seen you use that grapple and both times it hasn't looked like it works all that well. I wonder if the manufacturer had some specific use in mind when they designed it? The design of the Artillian grapple and others like it which have the longer bottom tines seem much more applicable to picking up logs and general debris.

      Joe, it works beautifully. Unfortunately, by the time I got the hang of it (the next day), the camera was gone.

    That's it... take all of that brush back over to the creek bank so you can repeat this entire episode over again next year... C'mon man... Pile it up and burn it now...!

    Too bad they don’t make a 25’ wide grapple so you could just comb the whole field. Good video.

    As usual this was a great video. It is wonderful to see your folks still active and working the fields.
    One suggestion that I have is getting a couple of hand held radios for when you are doing a “team” activity like this. They make coordination between vehicles and ground crew a lot easier and quicker than having to call individual cell phones. I have a couple set up on my farm channel and they really come in handy.

    Drones are useful in so many ways you don't think of. It seems like that loader frame really blocks your view.
