Yuriko is the card that got me back into MtG and for what I believe to be an incredibly powerful commander there's a shocking lack of gameplay videos featuring her (and most I've seen aren't showcasing her being played properly). So it's great to see a Yuriko deck tech by a player/deckbuilder that I highly respect! I hope this means we might be seeing some videos with Mons piloting Yuriko in the future but either way, keep up the good work! I really dog your content.
I’ve had yuriko doomsday for awhile now. I’d like upgrade with tainted pack, adnausem and demonic consultation but I’ve already got an esper deck that has the same win con.
Think you only scratched the surface with Dday combos, I have various piles for different situations listed 1) Double Trigger uncounterable free pile, requires BBB at start of turn and no land drop: brainstorm, amber, cavern, petal, oracle 2) Single Trigger uncounterable gush pile, BBBU and 2 islands in play with no land drop is required at start of turn: [[Street Wraith]], [[Gitaxian Probe]], [[Gush]], [[Cavern of Souls]], [[Thassa's Oracle]] 3) Single Trigger uncounterable mana maze pile, requires BBBU at start of turn and no land drop: Wraith, Brainstorm, Petal, cavern, oracle 4) Single Trigger uncounterable gush pile, requires BBBU at start of turn and no land drop: Probe, Gush, Oracle, Cavern of Souls, Jace 5) Single trigger uncounterable mana maze gush pile, requires BBBB at start of turn and no land drop: gush, lotus petal village rites cavern of souls, oracle 6) single trigger uncounterable mana maze null rod pile, requires BBBBU and no land drop: git probe, wraith, village rites, cavern, oracle 7) Single Trigger free pile, requires BBB at start of turn in ad nauseam yuriko: Gush, Probe, LED, Oracle, Reanimate 8) 0 trigger pile, requires BBBU at start of turn: brainstorm (cracking), scour, petal, chrome, oracle, reanimate
@@NicolasVillanueva The whole idea is to cast doomsday and finish the game in the same turn, in competitive edh it will be very difficult that you have the time to play doomsday, have a trigger with yuriko and then pass to win next turn...its very unlikely.
I didn't think about Tainted Pact being somewhat of a hindrance? Maybe I'm wrong since I do RUN a lot of basic lands. Has me rethinking it a little bit. Your thoughts on Lim-Duals Vault? Divining Witch? Also brilliant video and thoughtful explanation regarding combos and build.
Lim dul vault is excellent since you can basically stack whatever you want on top of your deck in response to yurikos trigger, same deal with imperial seal, vanpiric tutor and Mystical tutor
Yuriko also functions well with stax. Due to the high amount of free-2-play spells you can function around mana stax pretty well. Also stax slows the game down in general.... thus allowing more combat phases and more general value through Yuriko triggers. That goes along side with the tempo-control aspect of the deck.
This is way I have some staxs in the deck to. Chains and cursed totem. I would love to have more but dimir lack options. Grafdigger's cage could be a thing in the right meta.
Chains as well. I’d like to see what a winter orb would do in this deck as well seeing as we run perfectly on very small amounts of mana. That might be a stretch seeing as you don’t actually have a way to break parity with orb... it’s just a matter of playing better than most builds while under it.
I love this deck, I had a version without tainted pact and with back to basics. Also it had more turns and a higher curve but artificially high with split cards, FOW and such. The only truly expensive cards were bola's citadel, aminatou's augury, emrakul and expropriate
Love the video! Love Yurriko! Great side glance from the typical Yurriko fare. Any ideas on how to weaponize Vito's life gain to make him more competitive?

Im slightly surprised there was no mention of treasure cruise along wuth dig through time, as it seems like a good card in yuriko, though it is build dependent I suppose
Yuriko is one of the few decks that run Doomsday without a labman or Thassa combo. Make sure you can get 3 ninja triggers, cast Doomsday, set up Blinkmoth, Draco, and Temporal Mastery, then put either Divining top/brainstorm/Nexus of Fate in the bottom 2 if you have to, that part doesn't matter. Then flip all 3 with ninja triggers and hit the table for 41. Game.
i think that mons should make a deck tech around llwan, cephalid empress. this legend is extremely overlooked and has much potential with hackball effects and can shut down any colored deck that needs a creature to beat down or combo off
hahaha. What a cool meta card in the current meta. Sad it didn't affect red cards to like dockside. But this hits thassa. I don't think this is good as a commander. But this is something sisay could play for sure. I don't think I would. but if the meta became more blue creature stuff.
cEDH TV what about slight of mind or alter reality as key cards to change color text then you're basically using an iona deck, not mention how strong the painters servant is in here.... every thing becomes blue ,or slight of mind b4 the painter making any color punishment you want
Yuriko is fun. Totally plays into my more aggressive combat focused deck that's not Najeela. I love just dropping massive 4, 5, or 6 damage bombs at the table. Let alone if you run a few spicy high drops, or split cards.
If you go for bolas citadel I think you have to focus your entier deck arround it. Nothing bad with that but I think that is a different build all togheter.
Wow. Yurilo seems to be a really fun dwck to play. I have faced against yurikoba lot of time usually they wim via thassa consultation. I did not know doomsday will be really good in Yuriko. I really like it. I hope I get to face against this. I am sure it will be really fun.
I personally hate playing against yuriko. Her card draw capacity and free to cast counterspells makes it into a nightmare. But playing her is wonderful. Always nice to be an archenemy.
Dr. Rock yeah due to her nearly unrivaled card draw she can have a lot more ramp and interaction than other decks. On top of that she is stupid hard to shut down and when you do shut her down through a wrath or something she can rebuild in an instant.
I'm proxying this as an alternative to my gitrog deck that I sunk my whole collection into lol ( mostly foiled only missing cradle, Mox diamond, chains and bazaar)
I love this deck so much ^^. I play way more cc1 evasion dudes though. I only ever flew over the math, but is 11 creatures really enough to reliable have one T1? I dont think so. Thats roughly only every 10th card. I think you need more closer to 14-15 1-drops to reliable get that t2 Yuriko. oh wow... thassa's oracle how original.... -_- fuck that, burn 'em out with style! if you fail with doomsday, you die! high risk, high reward. SOOO MUCH MORE FUN!
For some reason, of all the commander options, I find Yuriko to be the one that gives me the most salt. Not because it's amazing, but because it preys on the weakest player at the table, meaning that even if I've got stax pieces up, I'm having to deal with the fact that I'm in a pod with a OOB Commander deck from Walmart and that is who Yuriko is targeting. Nevermind the fact that there's never enough targeted removal to keep her under control, it's frustrating all around and just leads to a game that I would rather be done with and go play someone else than see Yuriko again.
