Also would love to add that Yuriko gets around Drannith Magistrate since you're not casting Yuriko from the command zone, you're activating her ability from the command zone!
Your deck techs are actually so good, the way you lay everything out into categories makes the deck way easier to understand for a novice cedh player. Thanks kings.
Just wanted to add the fact that your doomsday pile can also go off as long as you haven't made your land drop for turn. When you cast gush return an Island that comes into play untapped and boom, now you have the other blue mana you need in addition to Lotus Petal to cast Thoracle.
Fuuuck yeah! I love your guys deck techs so much! I sent my friend your video of that Yuriko, because one of his main decks is Yuriko. And it was his first time watching you guys, he loved it Thanks for all the videos!
i LOVE going over the mulliganing! i see so many deck techs and none of that seem to do that, while it's a huge part of the game, and the hardest part of learning a new deck.
Easily my favorite edh/cedh channel. I love your energy guys. Especially these deck techs! Keep it up please :D it's amazing getting more insight into your personal decks that we see you play often. Up next Jeska Ishai Jeskai? Snooze ya looze?
Yuriko is actually perfect for new players if they run the burn budget version because it's simple to play. Dylan's deck is completely different from the burn one and it needs a lot of experience, i love this list btw.
Love seeing uruiko in cedh. I am typically a casual player but have been getting more and more into cedh and it is really cool to see some powerful casual commanders played in cedh
I run this exact deck card for card. Super strong and dumpsters on a lot of cedh pods I play in. I definitely think she is higher power than most cedh teir lists say. Super fun to play and has yet to get old. "yurriko trigger... thassa's oracle... trigger 2.... demonic consultation.... ... .. everyone take three."
Love Yuriko. I run a budget cEDH build that can still do work. When Satoru was spoiled, people thought he'd dethrone her.....not a chance. I actually run her in my Satoru deck, but she's still queen. She does draw (pun intended) a lot of hate though.
satoru has no room in a tuned yuriko deck, i'm getting tired of people thinking i've got satoru and a blightsteel in my yuriko deck.. it runs on such a low curve that i never have 4 mana to spare, and all of the relevant creatures can already ninjutsu for less than 4 anyways.
Yuriko was my first deck in high power/cEDH, pretty much hit the nail on the head. Fun to pilot because of all the card advantage and cheating taxes. Tough to pilot because I didn’t know the cEDH meta.
I just got suggested this video, y’all should bring back this style of deck introduction again. I like the in depth explanations to decks I don’t get to play
My yuriko deck doesn't run any of the "I win" combos, just pure deck manipulation, control and damage off flipping the top card and she wins pretty consistently. She's just super strong. 1 card I would say just usually wins me the game, is cursed totem. Shuts down so many decks with no negative downfall.
nice. i'm not a fan of "i win" combos/cards. this game is already like two 5 year olds playing a game where they keep changing the rules, cards that say you lose, i win, i cant lose are little "on the nose"
Always love watching you guys play Yuriko. I've been really close to the stock list, but I've been wanting to try closer to your list. Good stuff, keep up the great work guys!
Oh yeah. Preach boys. The good stuff. I've moved away from doomsday as the damage plan can be so reliable but it's such an awesome option. Prosperous Thief has been insane addiction as well!
Oh Yuriko. I have one in my casual friends EDH group, and it is fast and fun. Also playing zero counterspells, and instead, just a bunch of ninjas, early drop creatures, and big cmc flips off Yuriko in an extra turns package and a Satoru fun ninjustu package.
I like that you mentioned a hand was "fun enough to keep." Sometimes that's the kicker. I've had quite a few wins with Yuriko that allowed for tutoring up consultation/thoracle with protection to win on turn 2, but there's this cool angle Yuriko provides that its just so dang fun to burn people, turn stuff sideways, accrue advantage, and play control. In one deck. You can't really NOT run that comb, or doomsday in this deck, for that matter, but my most fun ninja wins come through big, fat chunks of pain.
“Have to be a good pilot” is so right! I built it recently and make so many mistakes. It makes you learn all five of the combat steps. Gavin did a great video on his good morning Magic on how to ninjutsu. Also, it’s awesome in cdeh to mid power - just take out some extra turns and etc. For example in cdeh: doomsday thoracle insidious dreams. I’m mid take all of that out with some extra turns. Versatile fun deck
i like that gavin made that video, so when i ninjutsu after damage has happened i can refer people to the video instead of trying to convince people i know what i'm talking about.
So I’ve been playing this deck since she came out and tuning it for years. My thoughts in testing deviate from the tempo list. I think after neon dynasty that the deck could pivot back to Yuriko turns really well… similarly to edric. I tried this tempo build and I found that there’s A LOT of creatures in this meta and these Yuriko triggers weren’t drawing me enough cards or being impactful enough to win. Taking extra turns synergizes really well with the high amount of QUALITY ninjas in this new set. And we also have more than enough free/ cheap counter magic to support the strategy imo. But bc I added about 7 extra turns spells I did need more artifact ramp. I just didn’t like the lack of mana when I’m trying to draw so many cards do so many things and still hold up interaction.
When yuriko first announced. Me and my cousins wanted to get yuriko and build a deck immediately. Solely because ninjas were the reason I started playing Mtg years ago. We look at different builds online and cedh builds. But we do have a little budget to splurge but not too much. Yuriko was the only commander that me and 2 cousins each have their own. One day we decided to go to an LGS and have some casual EDH, after several games with our other decks. The last game had everyone joined tables with us to have a huge edh battle. About 10+ players. So for fun I told my cousins, hey let’s do something crazy let’s whip out yuriko for this game. Initially they were like “Whut no.. we will get aggro-ed first” but after a short discussion we decided ah heck this is for fun. Within the first few turns with some yuriko triggers half of our opponents were almost half dead. A few more turns some opponents folded without doing much. The only players alive were all the Yuriko players which was only me and my cousins and 1 non Yuriko player. The game ended with me winning only because I had some tutor cards, a cheap counter spell and a scroll rack in play.
would love to see you guys do one of these with Tyler's favorite deck Kinnan. it seems like a real fun brew and i want to see how close my own kinnan deck is to being cedh lol
Lol yes! It was at this moment that I realized I forgot to talk about sakashima’s student as a win condition which made me lose my train of thought hahaha
Would you consider a Mirrorshell Crab as a budget option for the deck? Its a 7mv flip off Yuriko and gives an uncounterable mana leak/ mystical dispute.
This was incredibly helpful thank you for this. After the release on neon dynasty I had about 12 per so cards to swap into my yuriko deck. I play mostly casual and my deck was not far off of this one. I did want to add in a lot of the fun aweosme ninjas. But more so then that your this how to play the deck part of this video really helped. Hands to keep hands to play this was great. Aweosme deck and thanks I really got a lot out of this video
Great video, love the deck techs, could we get the cards you talk about edited to the video on screen, so we don't have to pause and Google them to read what they do exactly.
I love too that yuriko doesn't have a perfectly optimized version, it's a deck that can work in many different ways even though it's almost a creature toolkit feel. I run back alley broker to counter top deck decks but then the changlings and one drop rogues I use for yuriko act as mill engines down the road too
These deck techs are great. I’d love to see a deck tech for a Jeska/Ishai. It’ll probably take a while for this to happen, but I’ll keep asking for it to happen.
Loving these deck techs. So well explained and the test hands are great too! (I'd love a couple more, even.) Each video makes me want to get into cEDH to build the deck. Do you still play Two Tymnas? Would love to see the tech on that one!
ahh yuriko...i will never forget the look on my friends faces at the table when i resolved 3 yuriko triggers and flipped draco, blightsteel colossus and temporal trespass and everyone got 39 damage directly in the face xD i know that these cards are not that good for playing purpose, but they're incredible to swipe a big ninja-tabi through your friends faces because of their cmc's. now i get hate everytime i pull out this deck :D
yuriko was really cheap before neon dynasty was announced. the lands and the counterspells were really the most expensive things, so if you didn't go the cedh route you could build a very strong deck for about a hundred bucks, then plug in your land staples and it's ready to rock.

yuriko is probably my main deck, but i don't run nearly as much counterspells. it's built to get multiple yuriko triggers, so it's got all the sakashimas, students, and spark double. i'm surprised you chose things like the 1 drop changelings with no evasion instead of the 1 drop unblockable rogues. more often than not you're ninjutsu'ing those changelings out of combat to get yuriko thru, so it doesnt matter what their creature type is.
@@antihero615 those have evasion so i'm not talking about them, those are golden. universal automaton is just a ninja and is an easy upgrade for a slitherblade. i go back and forth with gingerbrute. the haste is nice on turn 1 with cedh rocks or 2, but after that we're playing our 'jutsu fodder post combat so it doesn't matter as much. i would be playing an unblockable 1 drop in my deck before i played gingerbrute. they aren't bad cards, i just believe there are still a few cards that outshine them, and since it's cEDH and i don't get the feeling budget or access is a factor in their decks, i say run the rogues first.
Nice decktech and good to see, always feels a bit forced when you're talking about on of your one decks. No Cam laugh and the section changes felt a bit forced, don't want to be a downer as still love you guys, i just love the videos when your personallities are in full force.
So I built a Yuriko deck and ran a bunch of dual cards (like the old school ones and amonkhet ones) because they're CMC in your deck is equal to both costs. Are there any of those cards that would be viable here in cEDH?
My original Yuriko deck had a bunch of dual cards too, but like you said, they might not be cedh viable(and my original deck definitely wasn’t, being my first commander deck period). I kept Commit/Memory in it for a long time after trying to upgrade it to cedh levels. When I first read your post for some reason I thought you meant flip cards. Agadeems’s Awakening and Sea Gate Restoration show up in the cedh versions as they are kind of lands that Yuriko flips for big damage, but Agadeem’s can also be pulled with Doomsday if you think the Thoracle will be stopped the first time around. Sorry if that was rambling.
The thing I found about brewing and playing Yuriko is that most of the Ninja's are crap. You have to remember just having a commander that always costs 2 and gets you a single card each turn whilst working through Narset parter of veils/eidolon of rhetoric is good enough in most instances. The ninja's and big cmc cards are sometimes a distraction. You have to be ruthless in card selection and judge the synergy of a ninja or a high cmc cards vs the alternative of just going for pure card quality. I like this list, temporal trespass is the best big cmc to include. Cards like blinkmoth nexus don't do anything if drawn for turn, not worth the couple of extra damage imo.
Also would love to add that Yuriko gets around Drannith Magistrate since you're not casting Yuriko from the command zone, you're activating her ability from the command zone!
My friend called it, but I was just excited for another deck tech. Slowly becoming my favorite series on the channel

Sorry if that was rambling.
consign // oblivion should be in the deck 100% imo
Any consideration of Fallen Shinobi or is it just too expensive for cEDH?
Ok any substitutes for the expensive artifacts and lands?
Oh a like? Wonderful 😅
