The thing is when the officers do raise the voice then you knew it was important. If you yell all the time you get normalized. But in general officers in sweden do tend to have a normal steady voice.

Fun fact. UK Ranger Regiment 3rd Battalion Was over to Sweden and this (K3) regiments sister regiment K4 which is located in Swedens north (Town: Arvidsjaur). Being a newly setup unit they went over here to take a look at how the jeager (Rangers) in the north of Sweden apply tactics, training and mindset in a subarctic environment. Good fun all around

Löjtnant is Lieutenant in swedish, he would be chief instructor for this bunch. The map at the start with zoom in on K3 is Regiments location in Karlsborg, at Karlsborg Fortress, it was meant to act as a "reserve capital" back in the day in times of war, it was where the government, king and parliament would evacuate to. Also, Dag means Day in swedish, so yeah, Dag 1=Day 1. They want to foster a sense of personal responsibility into the new guys, or in case of f*ck ups, guilt them(in lack of a better term) into sorting themselves out, because one feel stupid/embarrassed making mistakes.

An important aspect of the modern Swedish conscription is that they pick 6000-8000 out of about 100,000 young adults each year. They handpick the brightest, most fit or most motivated out of each generation.
Most armies rely on recruits who are uneducated, unemployed, poor or adrenaline seekers. And its the luck of the draw if they are fit as soldiers.
The officers knows they dont gave to yell because they are dealing with intelligent and motivated and capable recruits

Honestly that was more touchy feely than 24 years ago back then, Armoured Recon, at least for us induction had less of the sympathetic sort of informative behaviour from the lieutenants and sergeants.. as in none. More like they left you clueless and guessing on purpose initially as to why for, also any harsh words or other inducements seem way tamped down here near none. So yeah it leaned more toward the breakdown and build up style for us in the year of our Lord so and so ;) it appears to have been phased out.
Those quarters though, they really looked to be on the small side. From recollection assuredly a good bit smaller than the Armour boys over in Skövde. Sort of amazed they didn't get given some seriously old lockers but then again gear has changed a bit over the last 20+ years. Think kit item count must be higher now.

My nice went to Jägarutbildning at the very same regiment.
Its worth saying that those are conscripts. Also worth saying while the teams are not that large. They have Jägarutbildnign at a lot of regiments and they pipline them in quite regularly, so they are educating a pretty heafty amount of even this kind of semi else soldiers.
Because the Swedish soldiers are conscripts and not professional. Those kind of workplace protection don´t exist what so ever. The army does pretty much what they want to do. And if the conscripts die in training.. they die. That is something that does happen at time to time. Its not nearly as common to day as it was. During the cold war the safety record was horribly .
Nothing is new in the Swedish army. You only loan it during your conscription.

When did you do your service? - Of late, we have found that we don't need the screaming and any intimidation as it is counterproductive to mission command in instilling trust and initiative. The pressure and motivation the conscripts put on themselves are usually enough that we only need to remind them of what we have told them before. The differences in what we get from the two teaching styles prove that screaming is never a good way to go.

@Drarovaikoks Yes since then things have changed. Now as then, our focus was/are to teach Mission Command, (uppdragstaktik), especially to our independent units to whom that mindset equals fight and survive. The scope of actions associated with our hussars and dragoons units has expanded since your time too. Now, to teach what they need to know and how to think demands the best of us teaching it. The video you are now watching shows a type of Ranger soldiers and there are a few different Ranger regiments in Sweden and the toughest Ranger soldiers are NOT the ones in the video. The toughest Rangers soldiers Sweden has are the Lapland Rangers and these operate up in the Kiruna mountains and here only the best, the best men and women are taken out to become a Lapland Ranger. The Lapland Ranger is up in the mountains summer and winter, a full 86% of the time you are inside. Of course you have to be strong, but here it is even more important to be mentally strong. Because of cold, darkness, snow, storms which are a lot of up in the mountains. To take the beret test to become a Lapland Ranger, one must, among other things, climb Sweden's highest peak, Kebnekaise. The beret test takes 6 days and you have to walk and run 28 Swedish miles. Lapland's Rangers are those who are at the enemy's line or behind the enemy's line. You attack the enemies quickly and before they have time to react, the Lapland Ranger is gone. During a large exercise up in Northern Norway, the Lapland Ranger, who had been in prison for 10 months out of a total of 18 months, would have practice against the professional soldiers US. Navy Seals. Laplands Ranger knocked out US 3 times. Navy Seals. Precisely because the Lapland Ranger, as I said, strikes quickly and disappears just as quickly.
