Joel is the most underated musician of all time. I saw BJM a year ago, Joel drank a whole Jack Daniel bottle through the gig, and he was more in rhythm than anybody. I call it virtuosity.
You know joel can play guitar really well too……you ever seen or heard any of his solo project from years back? I cant find any vids but im sure there are one or two out there
Ummm, because the musicians have poor rhythm to begin with. Don't even start me on the tuning, which is blatant bad tuning on the albums. The vocals are "subpar" and tone deaf. Yeah...give credit to their goofy mascot. I'll accept that.
it's unbelievable how talented Anton is. I mean say what you want about the whole drug thing and being a total sleazeball, this man is one of the greatest talents of the modern age.
Furthermore, as a person who works in entertainment and met my share of famous, talented people. I can say that he IS the real deal, and would give you the shirt off of his back. He loves what he is best at, and isn't in it for the money. He's probably the only person that I've ever sat and had meaningful conversation with in my life.. The guy has a talent that he shares with the world, and to those who appreciate it. He's one in a million ...literally...
When BJM hits the groove, It is simply irresistible. The melody , hypnotic guitar cords , hushed yet powerful vocals and pulsating tambourine take their music to the next level
For some reason most comments are about: A. Joel is cool, funny, lazy or a drugdealer (?) B. Anton is wasted, on drugs, was on drugs or quit drugs When the point should be: A. This is a fantastic song B. BJM is one of the best (if not the best) band around C. Anton is an unbeliveable good songwriter who constantly come up with great songs.
Anton totally switched the lyrics up in this live version. I love it. He sang half the first chorus and half the second chorus in the first chorus and the same thing for the actual second chorus.
...I dig this band...actual seasoned musicians making great music...I've been a big music fan since I was 6 years old in the 70's; I'm 54...these guys have "it"...
really looking forward to the tour in 2012! It was an unbelievable experience seeing this band live for the first time in 2010, with an almost full line-up!
Anton and the BJM are the best thing that i got to know in the last 10 years! God bless them all! I wish i could see them live sometime, but i guess they´ll never come to Argentina... Cheers.
Few songs are opiates. This song is. For that it is destined to a lofty (or low) place in the annals of rock music as drugs. it is majestic and it crawls on its belly in alleys. So is the wheel of life. Thank you for this, Anton and BJM.
Oy--Genius is sometimes painful, I suppose. I refuse to believe that any tune is an opiate. Drugs are drugs, tunes are tunes. Sometimes they fucking collide
This song is magic. It beat its way into my brain and burrowed deep where the dopamine grows and it fertilizes it and it waters it and it harvests it. I am the dopamine king of my kingdom and i can knock a dragon out of the sky, 10000 feet high, by visualizing guitars.
Exactly. A lot of times simple 3 chord songs can be kind of cheesy/boring, but this (along with many BJM others) just gets right under your chest and moves you.
After attending 50+ concerts in my life, some reallly huge ones, too, I thought my appetite was filled and the need was finished. Nope, I only have one more band that is a need-to-experience deal and that would be a BJM concert. I'm really hoping to make it happen this summer what with the new -- and brilliant! -- album that will be out. YEAH.!
@fashioncorpse you make me feel sane. Thanks for your opinion on shit you have no clue about and the immense entertainment that comes with it. keep em coming!
without an iota of hyperbole, a molecule of sarcasm, a whiff of hype, the old man guarding the last of the foodstuffs in District 69, shuffling his automatic rifle easily from his right leg to his left, held the vinyl record in the dying rays of a heartless sun and said "BJM was the greatest band there ever was, now fuck the fuck off before i light you gutter dogs up" and we ran to the setting sun as if it could save us. It didn't save us.
01/01/10 ! It's greatness.. it's on my oh-yeahh list as soon as I can get ahold of it. Have you heard many of the new tracks? If not.. let me know.. I'll be glad to direct ya.
I appreciate it and I'm one of the straightest people you'll meet. I've partied in the past but I just recently started listening and music is mind expanding in itself.
I love how everyone's commenting on how out of it anton is here, but I find him quite attractive nonetheless. Plus, people forget that a majority of BJM's music was made while Anton was under the influence. So, "let yourself go and have some fun!"
Fucken real music. If you dis these guys go put a band together and write and perform songs even close to this. Not a chance! Play the guitar like this dude while singing! No chance! The Band of 2020
if Mr. Newcombe had never written another song, this one still gets him a place at a glowing atomic table in the Hall of the Mountain Grill and a lifetime of free coffee, donuts and space nymphs.
@clumpft All of those bands will be remembered because what they did was unique at the time, They actually had a sound that was fresh that people hadn't heard before. The complete opposite goes for this band.
don't get me wrong, i love both of them. the dandies were my favourite band since i was 12 when i got ... COME DOWN and of course if youre digging the dandies your digging jonestown too. i went to the dandy concerct in cologne last year and was so impressed by courtneys voice. after i yelled "GENIUS!" they played it like it were on the record.and not just that song.i don't like it either when he does his weird voice like on smoke it, but anton always sounded somehow .. sick. and wasted.
@MadMonie89 There's a difference between giving an informed judgement and giving out or complaining that 'this song sounds like this other song or their the same chords that are in this song'. It doesn't matter if it does, BJM have done it their own way and made it better even if it is taken from another song or whatever! In this day and age of music, there's bound to be a song thats more or less the same as another song ever created in the whole history of music. No denying that fact
@MadMonie89 well if you wanted the same chord progression. the beatles magical mystery tour has a chord progression that is more similar than the beach boys one...
this is really one of my favorite bjm songs. psychedelic-spaghetti western irresistible drive. the floating flute reminds me of joe vitale's flute on joe walsh's, "days gone by", esp @3:54. th-cam.com/video/4D2jRl4oVE8/w-d-xo.html (love the b side of this j.w. album!)
@matto902 It's all music, I don't call it a wash just because some bands may be "apples to oranges" If you think that way you end up with really fucked up taste in music, I expect the same amount of talent, professionalism, and creativity regardless of whether I am listening to Bluegrass or Techno or Metal or just a jam band. I do agree with you, no one can touch Frank Zappa, he was a better composer than Mozart, no one comes close to his talent.
@fashioncorpse Zappa is such a genius. Only a genius could write lyrics like "Why does it hurt when I pee?" and "My balls feel like a pair of maracas". Genius I tell ya! lol
Joel is the most underated musician of all time. I saw BJM a year ago, Joel drank a whole Jack Daniel bottle through the gig, and he was more in rhythm than anybody. I call it virtuosity.
My favourite ❤️. Hitting it on the 222. ❤️
You know joel can play guitar really well too……you ever seen or heard any of his solo project from years back? I cant find any vids but im sure there are one or two out there
Relax, he plays a tambourine.

Where would we be without this wonderful band?
Hell
@@aashishgaming5857 I think were already there....
it's unbelievable how talented Anton is. I mean say what you want about the whole drug thing and being a total sleazeball, this man is one of the greatest talents of the modern age.
Who’s to say that that isn’t part of the magic 😂
Furthermore, as a person who works in entertainment and met my share of famous, talented people. I can say that he IS the real deal, and would give you the shirt off of his back. He loves what he is best at, and isn't in it for the money.

Totally agree, so much variety as well 👍🏻
I dedicate this song to my granddad who past away few months earlier
For some reason most comments are about:

B. Anton is wasted, on drugs, was on drugs or quit drugs

Talking about a member of bjm being on drugs is like saying Martin Luther King was black
Right yes drugs play a role but that’s not the focus
Anton totally switched the lyrics up in this live version. I love it. He sang half the first chorus and half the second chorus in the first chorus and the same thing for the actual second chorus.

Great band.
The mightiest men wield the mightiest sideburns.
one of my favourite bjm tunes,, don't get much better man
one of the few real rock bands, i wish these guys would come to NY and play. i'd be there.
one of the best Servo videos...
I'm just happy they got recognition...awesome band
This is one of THE BEST bands ever- sooo cool- musically, lyrically. and performance! Come back to Montreal!!!!
I enjoy their music so much.
really looking forward to the tour in 2012! It was an unbelievable experience seeing this band live for the first time in 2010, with an almost full line-up!

That bass sound! 🤩

TubobRainbowUnicorn Love this comment!
Grandissima canzone, ottima qualità.
Matt is back. I saw them at the Neptune theater yesterday in Seattle and he was playing with them.
Amazing !!
Just awesome.
The Jimi Hendrix of the Tambourine.
they're very very good, no doubt about it
3:17 Oh the good ol' triple hit, nice joel, very nice
It takes years of training to hit the triple. :-D
I love that drum fill right before Anton's guitar line comes in. That DAT DAT DAT DAT or whatever correct musico terminology is.
Dan was the best drummer Antons ever had in the lineup. Shame he’s no longer with them. Absolute shame. I recommend watching the FIB 2008 concert.
I would book them to HEADLINE GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL! BJM very underrated Love this band!
WOULD BE VERY SWEET!
I always play this song before taking a hit from the bong.
Kunjeeboi I play this song before during and after my bong rip mate
Play this song then hit the bong
I want a guitar to be able to play this title ! Guitarlicious !
My first listen but still the epitome of low down and dirty
This song is magic. It beat its way into my brain and burrowed deep where the dopamine grows and it fertilizes it and it waters it and it harvests it. I am the dopamine king of my kingdom and i can knock a dragon out of the sky, 10000 feet high, by visualizing guitars.
You seem like a cool guy 😎
Exactly. A lot of times simple 3 chord songs can be kind of cheesy/boring, but this (along with many BJM others) just gets right under your chest and moves you.
Agree - Anton comes from somewhere very deep - life experiences - lifestyle choices - like Brian Wilson only more cool.......
Isn't a servo the thing in RC cars and stuff that makes the motors move? This song is like a servo the way the music signals make you move
A perfeição é a simplicidade. Esta é a chave que ninguém aceita porém é a real.
This is amazing!! i think im gonna cry!
i just have to say WOW!!! amazing
Lefty drummer!❤

yes and joel does it with style
Love this band..I think Anton's vocals suit the songs perfectly..just brilliant music executed perfectly and Joel is cool as fuck.
@fashioncorpse you make me feel sane. Thanks for your opinion on shit you have no clue about and the immense entertainment that comes with it. keep em coming!
i love them.
Jeol has the best job in the world World, playing tambo in the the BJM! Richer than the billionares..
This is rather excellent
I just checked wikipedia, he wasn't married at the time of Dig but apparently he did get married back in 2007.
they sound fukin amazing!!!!

Anton, you're a fuckin' genious!!!

LOL that's the best thing I've ever seen.

song is great as well as many of their songs, a person is smart, thats why we love bjm, people are stupid, thats why they arent more well known.

When the most replayed is the start of the song
JOEL!!! whassup brotha!!!
don't get me wrong, i love both of them. the dandies were my favourite band since i was 12 when i got ... Where did you get this ?
They are genius fashioncorpse. Can I hear your albums please?
At the end of the day wasted seems the operative word.

this is a best drog in the world lol
Awwwwwwwyeah....
Is that Joel Gion (from Dig) on tamborine??
great guess.
No it's Adam Sandler
@fashioncorpse Zappa is such a genius.
Only a genius could write lyrics like "Why does it hurt when I pee?" and "My balls feel like a pair of maracas".
Genius I tell ya! lol
Needs more tambourine.
you guys.... "let your self go and have some fun, cause its time"
I know they have played "Hide and Seek" in this live. Can you post it ?
