I have visited there twice. It is a very thoughtful and interesting place. Every American interested in our history should visit there at least once if possible.

Very nice vid. It's such a peaceful place. At least it was on that day. I need to visit. Have you done any vids on Lexington VA?

Not Yet, but we have visited the nearby natural bridge and the old cemetery in Lexington. Definitely some old southern charm in the Lexington area. Thanks for watching! Lou

Are the Confederate graves still there? I was there in 2008 and it was very poignant to see the Confederate grave markers still there with a small “stars and bars” flag in front of each grave marker…… very moving place to visit and pay respects to both sides of the conflict…..

Just a few miles from Appomattox court house in each directions were battlefields where thousands died. Some are managed by the NPS and others the Battlefield Trust.

McLean said that the Civil War began in his front yard and ended in his parlour. He lived very near Bull Run was and where the first battle took place. He moved from there to Appomattox after the war started.
I can only imagine how Gen. Lee felt signing that document.

A troubled time in America for sure. Gettysburg leaves me speechless. The toll in human suffering there . . . Thanks for watching Clare.

@@LivingOurDreamNow You're welcome. Have to make a trip there next year. Shame so many people want to wipe the slate clean of any history they don't think fits in our world today.
