I've lived in Richmond over 25 years. We're NoVA refugees. This city, for it's size, really hits above it's weight in a lot of categories. The food and art scene in particular because of VCU. It's a great easy going southern city with a lot to do. The James river park system is my favorite thing.

I just moved from Richmond last year but spent 8 years there (I originally moved there for college) and I miss it. The seasons are beautiful and it’s the perfect combo of natural and serene with urban and cultural bustle. Lively but pretty. I moved because I wanted to experience more of the world (having grown up in VA) but I can see myself returning one day. The underground art/music scene was my main reason for moving there and it didn’t disappoint.
I agree with everything you said! Also great insight coming from you, since you lived there for so long. It’s always great to travel for sure tho! I totally get it. I need to get into the art & music scene more!! 😍😍

I’m from Virginia and been living In the old Dominion since 1995. There are so many independent cities in the state and as much I like Hampton roads, Nova, Charlottesville, Roanoke, but there’s one city in Virginia that holds a special place in my heart: Richmond. Richmond is the definition of a unique city with rich history, architecture, location on the fall line at the James River, Carytown, great colleges (VCU alumni) and the food! Richmond is considered to be the most foodie city in the US. Richmond is also great city to film movies and TV such as Homeland, Toy Soldiers, Lincoln and Major Payne!

@LaurenZRay it was a pumpkin spice cinnamon latte I believe. The cashier was nice so I left a tip, but when I took a sip I was like, "this doesn't taste like pumpkin nor cinnamon" and the batista was like, "it's there." And walked away. I threw away the cup and never went back. I think my wife left a 1 star review and the owner was like, "comeback, we'll give you a free drink and a couple syrup pumps on the house". But I try to not support businesses that give bad service or products. Again it's been years so it's probably different now. Okay end rant lol. Great video btw.

@@LaurenZRay im not as coffee-savvy as y'all so I go with a classic large iced black- which is fire & cheap! Recommend stopping by there. Love the content btw!
As a Richmond native people like you and the people in the comments are pricing us out of our own city 😢 people come from CA, DC, NYC and up north down here with their WFH jobs because it's "cheap" & run the price of rent and houses sky high, meanwhile our wages stay the same. It's truly sad. The homeless population has gone up 120% in just one year and was up similarly from the year before that. It's truly a crisis and a crying shame.
That would be really tough, and I’m not sure how to navigate it. I’m sorry for that. I will tell you that I didn’t move to Richmond because it was cheap, I moved to it because it’s the city that felt like it was literally calling me home. It has everything I’ve always dreamed my home would have.
Richmond is the best! My boyfriend and I are both coaster nerds and it is the best place to live because you are so close to Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens Williamsburg.
They are awesome! Kings Dominion has more thrilling rides. You can't go wrong with Busch Gardens. It is beautiful and some rides have theming that reminds me of Disney parks. BG has great food and shows so it can please people that don't ride coasters.@@LaurenZRay
Moving in to Richmond VA is like “If there was a single day I could live here and a single breath I could take, I'd trade all the others away” I love this state ❤
Love this video- I miss Richmond so much. Hit me up when you want a Charlottesville tour :) oh, and try the latte with macadamia milk on your next trip to Ironclad
RVA has become a very good city in comparison with the conservative, racist and crime-ridden town it once was. I would have moved there for reasons other than the ones you mention (e.g. VFMA, UofR, Maudlin Center), but the real estate prices in desirable city neighborhoods have gotten out of reach. The best thing about Richmond? It’s only an hour away from Charlottesville.
It fucking blows! Been back to visit after living on the West Coast- a pathetic “outdoors” suburban cultureless nightmare. Its like 20 years behind the West Coast culturally and in food. Just say you couldn’t afford LA- Pasadena, The Hills, Griffith Park, Topanga…
I actually left Los Angeles because I was no longer in the acting industry (that's why I moved to LA from Indiana in the first place). I really like it on the east coast, but everyone is free to have their own opinion of course.

wait till they get heat by the heat and humidity in the summer.
@@jordaneubank oh my gosh yes! Feeling it now 😝
Black Hand Coffee goes hard
What’s your fav drink from there? 😍☕️
@@LaurenZRay im not as coffee-savvy as y'all so I go with a classic large iced black- which is fire & cheap! Recommend stopping by there. Love the content btw!
@@brendandevlin6022 thanks Brendan! ☺️ I always think it’s a good test if a coffee shop has good black coffee, so def will give it a taste!
Lived here my whole life… asking the same thing😂
Love everything about this video.
Thank you so much Brandon!! 💚💚
Thanks a lot, I plan to move there
Looks like a fun place!
It’s been so fun!!
I just decided I want to move my family there.
Great decision I say! 😉
Richmond is the best! My boyfriend and I are both coaster nerds and it is the best place to live because you are so close to Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens Williamsburg.
Oh I bet! How are those theme parks? I’m not into rollercoasters but Lukas is!
They are awesome! Kings Dominion has more thrilling rides. You can't go wrong with Busch Gardens. It is beautiful and some rides have theming that reminds me of Disney parks. BG has great food and shows so it can please people that don't ride coasters.@@LaurenZRay
Moving in to Richmond VA is like “If there was a single day I could live here and a single breath I could take, I'd trade all the others away” I love this state ❤
SAME! It’s my favorite place on earth 😍😍
Richmond is great for all the reasons you mentioned. Please don't tell anyone. More people will move here and bigger isn't always better.
Welcome to Richmond!
Thanks Jon!! I love it so much 😍💚
Love this video- I miss Richmond so much. Hit me up when you want a Charlottesville tour :) oh, and try the latte with macadamia milk on your next trip to Ironclad
Wow that sounds amazing at Ironclad. I hear Charlottesville is really cool!
If you have allergies, this is 💯 NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU. The WORST pollen seasons you can imagine.
It’s even listed on google as one of the worst!
My opinion might be biased...But I'm here for more Richmond content...And hand pies.🥧
As you should be 🔥🔥😝
I'm gonna have an foreigner course in fort Lee beside Richmond, I'm from Romania europe, have a nice day, who knows maybe we will meet.
I’ve always wanted to visit Romania. Had a trip planned in 2020, but couldn’t go of course.
@@LaurenZRay you should, it's a cheap country to visit and people are kind, the mountain areas are delightful,
@@iana5155 and I also am obsessed with castles, so it’s def on my bucket list 🤩
Born & raised in Richmond, VA❤ but currently live in chesterfield area. I love Richmond so many greats things to do! Such a foodie city! Welcome 😎
Thank you so much!! It’s so lovely, I’m so glad it exists!
Chesterfield is a huge upgrade.
Moving to Virginia soon. I hear the food is amazing and I want a hand pie lol
Get the hand pie!! You will not regret haha
How is the nightlife in Richmond? Ahah
Actually pretty good! A lot of places & restaurants turn into venues at night with live music 😍
@@LaurenZRay wonderful 👍thank you
You sold it -- to me.
I've been out 3 times visiting and this gem of a place is so high on my relocation list. 2024 or early 2025🤞
I might consider watching a baseball game in Richmond.
It was so much fun! And very affordable ☺️
I'm almost sold, but I am a dog lover - tell me there are many dogs and many many dog parks and I will flip for Richmond.
I don’t know about dog parks since I don’t have one but all my friends and many people have dogs here.
Too bad you missed them ripping the historical monuments out of the ground on Monument Avenue ....but who needs history, right?
We rep the 804 🔥🔥
Me!
😜😜
Welcome to Richmond but keep the hidden gem hidden 😂
You mentioned a lot of my favorite places. 👍
Hello..RVA born and raised and love the vid! Welcome to the River City! 🎉 There is lots of great food and things to do. I hope you also come to feel that you are a part of the community. Local non-profits and community organizations do really great work. Also POE House, Kuba Kuba, VMFA and Elwood Thompson are some of my fav spots.
Thank you so much! Everyone here has been so nice & welcoming. It really feels like home. 😍 I’ve been by the VMFA & am obsessed!! Need to stop by the others mentioned for sure! Thanks for the kind words and tips. 💚💚
"Vibe-y?" 🙄👎
I have traveled the world for most of my life. Funny, I ended up in LA and uh....Really ready to get out. Nothing that pretty about LA. I was born back East, NY.
NY is gorgeous! You sort of have to travel to a national park to see crazy beauty in California. LA is def interesting but not a lot of natural beauty.
So happy you appreciate how amazing our city is 🥲 we’re glad to have you 🖤
Thank you so much! It’s honestly a dream come true. I’m seriously obsessed 🥹
