There are two versions of the story, I like this one bc it puts into perspective how awful the gods were. Zeus and Poseidon do this kinda thing a lot… hades was pretty nice!
@@retrox2776 yeah, i remember that one guy who went to the underworld to get his wife back and hades promised that, if he gets out of there without looking back he will get his wife back, and at some point whole he was walking away he turned around because he couldn't help himself, and he saw his wife and realized that hades wasn't lying but because he turned around he lost his wife forever
The Greek gods are kinda messed up. Zues marries his sister (Zues has a kid with Demeter), hades marries his brothers daughter Persephone ( daughter of demeter ) its literally sweet home Alabama for the Greek gods. The mortals of thier realm had were even more messed up, athena ( god of knowledge ) got jealous of a girl named arachne for being better at knitting and then turned her into a spider just because she was a sore loser, medusa was originally a priestess of the God ( athena ) who fell in love with Poseidon but they started making out in front of Athena's temple and athena gets pissed and turns medusa into a monster that turns people into stone if you look in her eyes.
@@lier-bag9692 there are many versions of all greek mythology. And incest wasn't so frowned upon than it is now, i believe it was fairly common. For example medusa's story, some say that Athena did it out of rage and disgust, while others say it happened like in video
So let's get this straight we have Norse vikingr, modern werewolf and demon and now we have an ancient Greece medusa. Now we just wait for an ancient Egypt and possibly some other myth and legends and the pantheon has been completed. Fantastic job as ever Briar.
Medusa was truly one of the most tragic character within the Greek mythos. The other being Caenis. Both horribly wronged by Poseidon. The gods were right bastards. Amazing roleplay Briar! Well done as always.🥂
@@asclepius3333 the version of the myth I heard was that Medusa was a priestess of Athena who was r♡ped by Poseidon in Athena's temple and Athena 'blessed' her with the ability to turn humans into stone to protect herself from being harmed like that again
@@laneackerson6909 that’s a “newer” version of the myth. Originally Medusa was just a regular ol’monster, then a dude named Ovid decided to give her some backstory.
Only barbaric Bronze Age standards make Medusa out to be a monster - she was a r@pe victim, and she was hiding in a cave to avoid hurting anyone... and yet those deliberately seeking her out to kill her are in the right? Only by Bronze Age thinking.
Yes! I love this concept and the audio is so nice ❤ Also I hardly know the story of Medusa, so hearing the backstory being told by her was nice :) The adventures of Medusa and Blind Sailor Listener ~ Let's go!
I believe it was actually Zeus who assaulted her in the temple. But for sure there could be another version that I just haven't heard. Either way, loved the vid ! 💚
Her** no it wont keep you here in this cave Me* just like the story of the kidnapping of lady persephone and the seasons changed by lady demeter goddess of harvest and not known domain of the cycle of life and death
“Who trespasses on the cave of the medusa”
“Im here to talk about your cars extended warranty”
Medusa: Who’s there?!
Me: No Man.
Medusa: No Man is trespassing? Wait-
Me: Got eeeeeem!
Thank you, I love this. "Help brothers! No-one is attacking me!" *Shut up larry*
really pulled a “nobody’s attacking me!” on em
"Who trespasses into the cave if the Medusa?"
"...My name is Jeff"
"I know no one by that name"
Just helped you out (got you 169 likes :)
Medusa: you look like a baby learning to walk for the first time
My dnd character who is half lamb: I am offended in many ways..-

I think a lot of people seem to forget how tragic some Greek myths can be. Most of which were brought forth by the Gods. Great job as always

So in total? The Greek gods suck alot.
Honestly i think that Hades is one of the ones that has done less atrocious things than his counter parts

Maybe a Schathach Celtic one or something else from the Táin or the Ulster Cycle; or Kali/Shiva

Fun fact : the word { Alitheia } in the thumbnail means truth ( it's in Greek)

God's in myths apparently don't like peace
Generally, Gods in myths are pretty xenophobic and misogynistic. They don’t like anything that’s not from the gods or is a god
How to look at Medusa without being turned into stone
1. Be blind

I'm sorry but I have to ask and although I would love to stay I would like to do so on my own terms and not because of me being hungry
