It's not the worse thing ever, but is missing a natural smoothness. Not saying someone not from JA (from foreign)couldn't be that good, but these crews ain't it. Again, it's not like they suck, but just missing that extra level.

My point being that any form of art is a distillation of a culture. Imitation is a form of flattery so this isn't problematic, inherently. It's when a bunch of these fakes get together and them declare themselves "masters" or experts in an art form they don't understand, can't relate to, and can't even perform well. How the FUCK are you going to be posting a video of a "World" Dancehall competition and have no Caribbean, African, or South American representation....This competition and its sponsors are a disrespectful collection of shit. This is the prime example of cultural appropriation. And having a token Black MC doesn't make it any better
First of all, there was South American representation in the video, they were also the ones who won the competition. And how is this cultural appropriation? Isn't dancing all about having fun? They can't decide who is competing and what race those people have. I think it's quite immature to attack them like that. I agree that some of them weren't as good as others but hey they are doing their best. I think you need to look into what cultural appropriation truly means. If you want more representation of the natives of dancehall, then go there and compete for Jamaica yourself.

Dancing for us black folk is more than just moving your body to music. If you're going to try and mimic this Jamaican artform you should at least show natural rhythm. Dancing by numbers and NO SOUL or Dancehall Spirit on display isnt a good look. Its NOT every race of people that are ONE WITH SOUND..let alone able to take on the hottest dance moves from Jamaica. Just because you're MOVING your body to reggae sounding music doesn't mean your ACTUALLY dancing, let alone dancing to DANCEHALL. I guess these folk should be applauded that they at least tried and didn't HURT themselves mimicking Jamaica's hottest export. Its possible that with more training these "crews" could improve, but I doubt it. You either have natural affinity or you're just a stiff soulless mimic.
