I'll never forget where I was when I first saw this video. It was August of 1988, and I was 14 years old. It was on at 2 in the morning, and I stopped dead in my tracks. I'd never seen a woman that beautiful.
@@gerarderdue5590She married JT Taylor lead singer from Kool and the Gang they met on tour back in the 80's .Starlena and James are still going strong and she is still 🔥
I was a incoming Freshman in College when I saw this. Everything about this video and music was beautiful !! Sister stopped me in my tracks, too !! WOW !!
When I first saw this video, I fell completely head over heels in love with Starletta, then I found out that she was married to JT Taylor. I then promised myself that I was going to GET RID OF THAT DUDE !!! She is sooo BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
Oh wow! I've always loved this song! I just discovered that it was produced by Monte Moir of The Time. He also produced "Pleasure Principle" by Janet Jackson. So talented! Starleana is so beautiful and I just discovered that she and JT of Kool & the Gang are married. Go figure.
Had no Clue Starleana Young was part of Slave and Aurra. This song was played on the radio in Chicago in the 80s and was a must listen.....Ironically I'm in radio and one of My co - workers played it and stopped me dead in my tracks and took me back to when I had this 45 in High School. Starleana has no IDEA how she touched the WORLD with this song!!!! She FINE TOO!!!!!!!!
The First Time I Heard This Was On WBLS 107.5 FM In NYC! And DJ Frankie Crocker Was Premiering It During His 4pm - 8pm Show! I Was Drawn To It Immediately, And Bought The Album! 🎧
This video was my first "love at first sight" moment. When i saw this I fell instantly in love with her. I would wait for it to be played on Bet's Midnight Love. She had my heart. I would pretend that she was singing only to me. Her expressions, the way she moves, her voice is all so pure and sincere. But what convinced me that she could possible love me as much as I loved her happens at 2:58 in this video. Watch her expression. Notice how her face changes. She is feeling something real. She's not acting anymore. She doesn't even finish the lyric. It was at that moment that this 18 year thought that she just might love me too.
This came out when I was twelve. I was drawn to how ethereal the video and song are and still is. So refreshing.
those eyes are beautiful. This song made me feel so free. Music was so good back then. Ugh I miss it
This definitely take me back to Video Soul. I miss those days!!

I agree! She is so beautiful. I'm still mesmerized by her beauty. I wonder what she's doing nowadays.

She is also the wife of James "JT" Taylor, who was the lead singer from Kool and the Gang.

Dedicated to a crew of females from Kansas City Kansas and Bonner Springs area I met back in 1989
At first I thought Monte Moir (from the Flyte Tyme/Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis camp) produced this song?
He did.
Tommy Sotomayor likes to recite the hook of this song every now & then. S/O to the King of Contro yo!
Star and curt.
