I think this is an interesting topic whenever it comes up. I have all awake babies, and I love them and prefer them, even without the eye contact aspect for me, because I love to imagine about my babies and I can imagine more about them when they're awake. I also feel the awake sculpts tend to be more expressive, not just in their faces but their limbs as well. However, I recently had a chance to hold some of the sweetest sleeping newborn (reborn) twins, and holding them evoked such strong memories of holding a particular real, sleeping baby. Now I really want just one little newborn sleeping baby in my collection. :)
You make an interesting point about the limbs with the awake babies. Saskia is a great example of that. I love both awake and asleep but I definitely generally prefer awake babies also. :)
Interesting talk, l personally find it very hard to bond with sleepers. I see so many beautiful sleeping kits but unfortunately I have tried and just cannot bond. So I only collect open eyed babies 😊

Im watching this as I cuddle my little Trevor, who is also an Evely sculpt. I have learned overcthe years that I prefer larger, chunkier babies. Large 3M is as small as I can go to garauntee a bond. Usually when I dont bond with a reborn its because of their size not meating my expectations..and that can be so tricky sometimes! You describe your Evelyn as 3-6M but my Evelyn is definitely more 3M to me 😋 Different bodies play a role in that too! I started off only wanting sleeping babies and wasnt too comfortable with awake babies. At some point I fell in love with that one opened eyed baby that changed all that! Now the majority of my collection are awake babies/toddlers! I do agree though there is just something so sweet and soothing about cuddling with a sleeper 😋 Great video!!

Watching this while holding my Ashley Asleep. I didn't think that I liked the sleeping reborn dolls, until I saw one that was beautifully painted and rooted. I will be getting an awake reborn in the future, but I love my little sleeping reborn.
I like closed eyed babies but I just have a extremely hard time bonding with them compared to open eyed babies. I dont take my babies on outings or anything so I really like how the open eyed babies seem to have a strong personality instantly.
I love both.I have gotten my second sleeping reborn recently and so. far I have bonded with him easily.I have many more awake than asleep though.I think awake are better for role play .
I use my babies for stress relief and I don’t want them cooped up in my house all day. When I take my babies out it causes more stress if they have open eyes because, like she said, you get stares.
I love both but to me sleeping babies look more realistic. I also find them calming. They remind me how much I loved watching my kids as babies sleep. I also love awake babies becouse they can be a lot of fun to take photos of. You can have them looking at the camera or looking away. My first son loved to take pics for me. My second always turns away lol so I like to mimake how they did. Also with my first I had to put him in a cute outfit everyday and only sleepers at night . But with my second I kept him in sleepers most of the time. So with my reborns I have one that I mostly keep in sleepers and the others I love to dress up.

I'm looking to buy my first reborn and up until recently I was set on an awake reborn because I thought I would bond better and I sort of thought the sleeping reborns were a bit creepy. However since watching role play morning routines on awake reborns I'm starting to question my choices as I'm thinking they might seem less real and harder to bond with if they are awake but not moving. Ultimately I think I may end up with two reborns eventually one awake and one asleep... Then I can pick which baby to play with for different times
There are definitely pros and cons to both and maybe the solution is to have one of each :) I personally still gravitate to the awake babies because they have so much personality but they are harder to take out because they look less realistic since they don't blink.
Bella is a sleeping baby, the Lucy by Tina Kewy!! She's a dream baby of mine. I bcame a Reborn Mom last May 2016, I didn't have a bond when she arrived, it was something new for me. I like both sleep & awake but I feel more of a bond w/the sleeping babies. But I luv the sleeping babies bcause it's better when we go on outings. It helps make it more real. I do want an awake baby but I'd rather a Silicone that's awake. Thanks! And thanks for replying back yesterday about Maggie! P.S.: I like the bigger babies bcause they fit & look better in car seats/strollers.
Sleeping babies and children look more vulnerable which evokes the strongest emotions of protectiveness. That said I want an interactive doll so badly. A particular company is working on a doll whose eyes move and will look at you if you wear a necklace that clues the doll you are there. As soon as that doll is available I am getting her damn the cost.

She is cute! about the chat. to me YES it does make a differance in bonding if the eyes are closed or open. i have onley two reborns 1 nwith open eyes and 1 with closed eyes (the elyse and the Leelou by Cassie Brace). and i do bond better with my open eyed girl. i feel open eyes baby's show me more of there caracter. with doesnt say though that i dont like sleeping babies at all. i do love my sleeper as mutch as my open eyed babie. there is more to bonding i think then just the eye thing. :-) xxx
I definitely prefer sleeping babies, athough I do like awake babies and have bonded with both. Size has more of a bearing on bonding for me and I prefer newborn size. I'm My current collection consists of newborn sleepers as you said sleeping newborns are more realistic. For newborn awake babies I bond better if eye are small and slightly squinting like the Esme sculpt by LLE.🌹
Newborn size clothing is very tough to find. I have had good luck at Carters, Gymboree, Old Navy, and Janie and Jack. Children Salon is nice for more upscale clothing (go with the size 0 months). Hope that helps!
I have a newborn reborn baby(sleeping eyes) and a reborn toddler( open eyes). I bond with them pretty well because they look just like actual babies would if they were around the same age. I don’t mind sleeping reborns as long as they look

I am the opposite, I prefer sleeping babies and connect with them better, I find a lot of doll eyes, even german glass, are a bit vacant. I also prefer not to be stopped out in public with an awake doll. I have only had two awake babies, for this reason, mine are always sleeping. I also think that the sleep suit thing is very different in the Uk. Here it is very unusual to see a baby in public wearing PJs, even if they are very young they are usually dressed in soft outfits, so seeing a baby wearing an outfit and being asleep isn't such an unusual sight around where I live

I've heard people make that comment. It's so interesting how many prefer sleeping vs. awake. It really seems to be 50/50.
