Hey cool! If you grab 1.1 (which we released while you were editing this video I bet) we have a built in generstor for ed n-m in the tuning editor too! Will save you another step. Thanks for highlighting surge in this series!

And thank you for making such a great synth!

A somewhat crazy, but really fun thing to try with the Poly AT mapping in Surge is to tie it to the lower and upper frequencies of a bandpass filter -- in some presets, this can almost be like you're controlling a choir of throat singers. Basically, when you press harder into the keys, you'll get higher harmonics of the notes you're playing.

Thanks a bunch, Dave, and Lumatone! I’ll definitely have to pick this one up!
2:32 - Just a side-note: I’m very grateful that they correctly attribute 88CET tuning to me. Made my day! Thanks, Surge (and Manuel, perhaps?). I wonder whether it’s mapped the same way I do, with the G#/Ab key mapped out, as a symmetric mode of P5s wrapping within the 11-step 7:4 interval. Of course, with Lumatone, you don’t have to map out the G#/Ab key in the tuning; you can map it out in the keyboard itself! Among other things, that makes transposition in your DAW simpler!
Anyway, just a side-topic… Thanks for going over this, Dave and Lumatone!

Thanks for the comment! Jacky Ligon (who co-designed most of the tuning implementation with us on the team) is responsible for the library, so the attribution is his. As to the mapping question: We have full KBM support (including if you want non-monotonic mappings!) for mapping on keyboards less flexible than a lumatone, so you could write a KBM which mapped as you said. Maybe we will include such a mapping in an upcoming library version!

@@baconpaul5772, thanks for the clarification, and “hi, Jacky; been a while!” Thanks for putting together a lovely tuning library.
I did indeed download Surge, and as expected, it’s a blast to play with, and as promised, it works very well with Lumatone! It took a few minutes to figure out the filters, but they work great now.

@@mr88cet Enjoy! We have a pretty active discord (Jacky is there as is Cale, who wrote a bunch of the octave-per-channel stuff). If such a thing interests you, in the about screen click the discord icon and you should get invited. The filters can be fun... the wave shapers + the filters can be very fun....

Thanks for the great video! I found this to be a great first test for the Lumatone. It was reassuring to be able to verify all the hardware before spending more money on software.

Lovely! The 19 tone piece carried an ethereal and other worldly beauty. The 31 tone piece was just as astounding in an energetic lively sense. The day that I get a Lumatone will be a joyous one indeed. Thanks for the great vid!

Any change you all could do a video that covers using Lumatone with Microtuner in ableton Live?

I can't seem to get my 53 edo (9th preset) to work with surge... works fine with pianoteq. Any tips? basically I get repeating octaves and if I try the work around you describe (right click tuning and select use midi l channel octave shift) then instead of it fixing the problem as with 31 edo, it make all the keys above the first quadrant the same note. Perhaps there is another way to change the octaves between each lumatone section as a manual work around?
