Just as a sidenote .. Cheslyn Kolbe's cousin is Wayde Van Niekerk .. the current 400m olympic champion and world record holder in the 400m .. so speed must run in the family .. excuse the pun 😆
That's awesome! Thanks for letting me know that fact. I appreciate you 🙌🏽 That's very cool! Wayde Van Niekerk is incredible. Definitely runs in the family
He is an absolute legend and overall nice guy, no arrogance or attitude, he give 100% to club and country every week. Great example for young rugby players. He was initially told that he was too small for International rugby, whatever. South African Rugby supporters adore him.
@@QSNgg The Springbok game against 1st game France and Irish was good and then the beast of all was New Zealand against South Africa in the final a true beast of a game.
Man I had to pause the video and say I appreciate the energy in the reaction. I've watched a ton of reaction videos on Cheslin and I feel a lot of people just don't understand how hard it is for someone of his height and size to make these amazing plays let alone the spatial awareness to put yourself in a position to do so. It takes a lot of dedication and mental fortitude. So it's one thing when someone reacts to his speed but it's another level when you understand why and how is he is able to perform like this. So definitely appreciate the energy man keep it up.
Much love Mikul! I really appreciate you and the kind words boss. That means a lot 🙌🏽 You're 100% right that Cheslin's ability to create space and move the way he does takes so much skill. He's an incredible athlete
I think his size is actually perfect for his types of movements it would be hard to move like that if you're a giant. He is a super human like Messi small and untouchable
The score for the South Africa vs France game was SA 29 - 28 FRA. For France to win they basically needed a conversion, which is 2 points. Which is exactly what Kolbe charged down after France's second try. There were obviously many factors at play but it's significant because you hardly ever see anyone make it to the kicker, the charge is usually to distract, but if the kicker takes too long the runner can literally go pick the ball up if he wanted to. An actual charge down though, in a quarter final game was super epic to see 🔥
@@QSNgg Love your enthusiasm for the beautiful game & for an amazing player! Never seen a player successfully charge down a kick for posts before this (been watching international and national rugby since 1969). Kolbe knew the kicker from club rugby in France & knew his pre-kick routine, so took off exactly as the kicker started to move & was able to block the kick, thanks to his insane speed. Definitely an epic game for the ages & a must-watch for anyone who loves rugby... the Springboks (Boks) playing in a Rugby World Cup (RWC) QF against the host nation in a seething cauldron of Les Bleu supporters and winning by 1 point. The Boks went on to win the semis against England by 1 point, and the final against New Zealand by 1 point. This made history for the Springboks... first nation to win the RWC 4 times (even though South Africa was only allowed to participate from 1995 onwards due to sanctions). Also won back-to-back RWC titles (2019 & 2023). Do yourself a favour and check out the docuseries Chasing the Sun (Seasons 1 & 2) - available to view free on rugbypass tv (need to register). One of the best doco series ever made (not just my view). You'll see why rugby is so much more than just a sport in South Africa. The Boks give people from all walks of life hope, strength, courage and the belief that with hard work, anything is possible. The coach of the Boks since 2018 is Dr Rassie Erasmus (Rassie) who was a Springbok player himself, is an absolute rugby genius, innovator & an incredible man manager. The players would walk through fire for him, and they play for an entire nation, not just for themselves, in the belief that unity can help to rebuild a struggling country with so much potential. Btw if you want to get to grips with the nuances of the game, two great podcast channels to watch are EggChasers Rugby (Tim Cocker) and The Big Jim Show (Jim Hamilton) - both from the UK. Other podcasts that explain the finer points of rugby union are The Verdict and Squidge Rugby. And then of course, there's The Boks Office which is also amazing. But seriously, do check out the 2 seasons of Chasing the Sun... they are truly awesome!! 👌🙏🏉🏆
Forgot to mention that in most countries, rugby union is a sport offered at elite schools only. This used to be the same in South Africa, but all that changed after SA won the 1995 Rugby World Cup (when Nelson Mandela was President). Now rugby union is offered at all schools, and there is an oldboys' club called the Legends Project (former Springboks players) who approach the private sector for funding, provide coaches for kids in non-traditional schools & in disadvantaged communities, have talent scouts from school to university level, and help talented players secure contracts with franchises. This also means that there is a constant stream of talent coming through the ranks to keep the sport alive and offer depth to the national side.
It has been suggested that the RSA v France game is one of the best games of rugby ever played. It is one of a trio of games at the end of last years Rugby World Cup that has taken decades of the life expectency of all South Africans.
That's what I've been hearing. I'm going to watch the full game to get a feel of the experience for myself. So cool to see all these incredible matches. I heard the RWC last year had so many incredible games
Few years ago Cheslin was told live on TV by an ex-Springbok coach that the only way he would become an international rugby player is to shift to 9. Cheslin chose to prove him wrong and became not only one of the best players in the world, but without a doubt the best winger in the world. What a champ.
@@QSNggin context, rugby is historically an afrikaner sport. Meaning, it's almost like a religion in white culture. Through the years it has been played by big bulky afrikaner men. Just check the sizes of the pack especially the loose trio consisting from numbers 1-8. 9 to 15 are the backline, the fast guys. Cheslin was considered to small by black and white south Africans alike. A French club Toulouse signed him after he was consistently overlooked by the national selectors due to his size. He made such an impression in France, that he could no longer be overlooked by the SA squad selectors. And has been proving everyone who said he was to small for rugby, wrong eversince. He is considered by international pundits to be the greatest rugby player in the world today. Talk about silencing your critics against all odds, Cheslin Kolbe did that.
@@QSNgg Cool post! Yeah, Danie the best centre in the world. I don't think anyone would disagree. And they were amateurs then. Day jobs...if you like rugby you will find great Springboks. Past and present. Every Springbok wears that jersey with PRIDE.
The France vs SA game is from 2023 quarters in RWC. Bro, that was the wildest weekend of rugby I’ve experienced in my 34 years of life. Many people consider this Fra vs SA match the best rugby match in rugby history. I WAS HOWLING!!!!
I've been hearing from everyone that the France v SA match was absolutely insane!! I will have to watch the RWC '23 to check it all out and experience it myself! That had to be the most incredible time watching that game. I can completely understand why you were howling! Those types of games have so much energy you can't contain yourself!
Agree wit you. I have been watching rugby for close to 40 years and the first thing I said that Monday morning, is that those 4 quarter finals were the best weekend of rugby I had seen in my life. Boks / France and All blacks / Ireland specifically, possibly the best RWC games of all time.
To think when Colby played for Western Provence all the coaches prior to Rassie Erasmus thought he was to small to be selected for the Springboks 😅 What did Colbe do,he left South Africa, played overseas and became even more lethal. He is one of the fastest rugby players in the world with a time of 10.70 for the 100metre.My homeboy from Scottsville Kraaifontein, same as his cousin Wayne Van Niekerk Proudly South Africa ❤
When the French man starts his run up to kick the ball is when your allowed to chase what kolbe did is one in a million chance of doing you never quite see that happen and for it to happen in a world cup is what made it so buetiful
You can charge down the kick as soon as the place kicker has started his run up to the ball, this can even be if he twitches slightly to move towards the ball. It happens very rarely has the kicker is usually far enough away from the try line (where the other team have to be behind) that it is kicked way before anyone gets there. Cheslin got there as Thomas Ramos (the kicker) took a longer/slower run up then usual allowing Cheslin time to get the block. The final score was South Africa 29 France 28 so that blocked conversion basically won South Africa the game, this was a Quater final match at the 2023 world cup that was held in France as well. Hope that makes some sense. Love the videos dude keep it up.
Thanks so much for letting me know about the charge during a the kick. That's really helpful to know. I appreciate you! It's crazy how that play made all the difference in the final outcome of the game. Thanks again for helping me understand the game better and for also checking out my videos. It means a lot 🙌🏽
@@QSNgg It has to be said that Kolbe started his run from a slightly offside position on that particular one. Not sure it would have made a difference though.
The other incredible thing about Cheslin is the adversity he went through he was constantly being told he was too small to play international rugby and springbok coach at the time he broke through said he could only play scrum half (Nick Mallett). Cheslin proved them wrong 🔥
He's probably the best rugby player in the world right now. Two world cup wins and no one can touch him 1v1, also very well rounded player can play all the backline positions if nessisary can kick, takle, run, there's no one like him!
Thanks so much Ostricks I really appreciate you and the kind words boss! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for taking the time to watch it and for your comment 🙌🏽
Commented before but just want to say because of your knowledge of Football, your analyse is great and you can see your appreciation of skill, awesome content
Thank you so much for the great respect you are showing to a player from another country and a different sport than what you know. Also the try that Cheslin Kolbe makes at 25:20 vs England 2019 was the match wining try for the 2019 Rugby World Cup Final. Very Proudly South African. Bokke Bo.
Massive love matrix I really appreciate you and your kind words! I have so much love and respect for South Africa. I’m excited to go visit and experience your country and the amazing rugby you have there.
@@QSNgg Tim Crocker from EggChasers Rugby was intrigued and amazed by the spirit of South African supporters in France during RWC 2023 & by the Springboks. He started delving into the history of SA rugby, and was so encouraged to find that rugby training is started at grassroots level. He then visited South Africa earlier this year to watch the two tests against Ireland (also attended the schoolboy rugby derby, Craven Week), and then returned again to watch the two tests against NZ. He has been bitten by the South African & Boks rugby love bug. Before you visit SA, check out his podcasts of his time in SA and the awesome rugby he experienced. You will love SA, the warmth of its people, the beauty of the land, and the passion for rugby!
His Cousin is the 400m world record holder in track and field. But one thing these videos didn't show. He kicks for goal as well sometimes, has thrown in at the linout and jumped in the lineout, has also slotted in at 9 at times. He is incredibly versatile
@@QSNgg The law states, that the charge can begin when the kicker starts to move in any direction, in order to run up and kick the ball. It was really a touch and go, and I personally think Cheslin stole half a second there.
Damian Penaud is a French winger who worth looking at, he scores lots of very good tries. Ardie Savea is another great player, a back rower from New Zealand who is incredibly powerful ball carrier and makes a lot of distance post-contact.
If you’re going to react to player highlights you gotta check out the GOAT Jonah Lomu. He was active during the 90s and early 2000s. Some will say he lacked some key skills modern players have e.g. kicking but he truly revolutionised the game. Before him wingers weren’t big guys. Jonah was 6’5, 250lbs and ran a 100m in 10.65. Also incredible agility. The guy was a fucking monster. Rest in peace, legend.
@@QSNgg Awesome giving Jonah Lomu a shout! He was an absolute monster! Given his size, speed and weight, he changed rugby in that every team in the world wanted massive winger ever since. What makes Kolbe so special, is he is only 5'7 and achieved all that in a world where wingers are supposed to be 6'4 (what Lomu was). I remember having my doubts when Kolbe burst onto he scene, but boy am I glad to be wrong!
South African here. Jonah Lomu was one of the greatest players rugby ever saw. That man was a machine. I'm old enough to have watched the 1995 Rugby World Cup as a young woman and he had our country on the edge of our seats. He was difficult to tackle, he had an almost preternatural speed, agility and strength for a man his size. I remember James Small (the bad boy of Springbok rugby at the time, RIP) grabbing the collar of his jersey at one point to get him down. We as Springbok supporters still respect his legacy. Rest in peace, Mr Lomu.
Ooh I’m so stoked to watch this! I literally subscribed when you first started your rugby reactions just so that I could watch your reactions to South African players and the team. Very excited that Cheslin is your fav, he is so talented and such an amazing athlete. Aw yeah it’s so delightful watching you get so excited watching him play! So the “helmet” he wears is a scrum cap, it doesn’t offer much/any protection except for players ears. It protects players from cauliflower ears. If you look at players you will see a quite a few of them have permanently swollen ears as a result of blunt trauma to their ears (internal bleeding mostly)
Thanks so much for your support and checking out my vids. I really appreciate you! I love Cheslin Kolbe for all the reasons you've mentioned. Also, thanks for letting me know about the scrum caps 🙌🏽
Acceleration from stationary to full speed is incredible. Change of direction in a split second fools the opposition every time. Explosive energy and low centre of gravity makes him find the gaps.
Your captivating, the American audience to watch rugby. If you can get that across to someone that is a broadcaster, that’s going to bring more eyes to the sport then I don’t see why they won’t allow you to
Thanks so much for your support KT I really appreciate you! It means a lot. I'm hopeful I can build a positive relationship with broadcasters and some key players in Rugby so we can enjoy this together on stream. Thanks for everything boss! 🙌🏽
Love the energy!! I was very impressed with your in-depth knowledge of tackling correctly. Lots of similarities in technique, rugby vs football. Love the video! @QSN You would love a live rugby union game, especially with that energy! Awesome video, yes I am biased (Springbok supporter, born and bread).
Hey Jaquester! Thanks so much for your kind words and feedback boss! I appreciate you 🙌🏽 There are definitely a lot of similarities in technique between rugby vs football. One thing I absolutely love about Rugby is that your athletes rely on solid fundamentally sound technique when initiating a tackle. As a defensive player myself it's absolutely beautiful to watch! At times in American football we try so hard for a big hit and fail to wrap up. Which allows stronger athletes to bounce off and keep going I'm definitely going to a rugby union match this year. Hopefully I can watch the Springboks live 🙌🏽
@@QSNgg You will not be disappointed when you watch a game, especially international matches. Do yourself a favour and have a look at our arch-rivals, NZ All Blacks. They have all but dominated rugby ever since the inception of the Rugby World Cup in 1987. Yes, the Springboks have won 1 more Rugby World Cup than them but these guys are world-class. There is no bigger rivalry and respect between us (South Africa Springboks) and NZ All Blacks in rugby union.
Thank your for your presentation. I m from a rugby background and I find it interesting to watch the reaction of people who play a different sport. I find that in general people do not understand the real differences between say rugby and football. Pads are essential for blocking; their role in tackling can be disputed. There are similarities which you point out very effectively. Football has analysed how to use the body effectively when tackling etc for far longer than rugby has.but the principles of sinking at the knees and driving with full body force through the target are very similar, but details of use of arms vs shoulder charge tackles impact the safety strongly. I must say I have always thought that Cheslin Kolbe reminds me of Barry Sanders, a juker rather than a swerver, masters at getting the defender to commit , and then wrong footing them. A great football running back who reminded me of the swerving type of rugby runner was Gayle Sayers. He could glide by a defender. Anyhow, thanks for a worthwhile reaction show.
You said it so beautifully David! I agree with all of your perspectives on rugby and football. And the Gayle Sayers comparison is spot on!! Thanks so much for your amazing commentary and exceptional insight. There are so many similarities between both sports especially like you brilliantly mentioned with tackling and running/juking abilities. I love watching players like Cheslin that create so much magic out of seeming impossible situations. It always leaves me dumbfounded to see that type of ability showcased at the highest level I appreciate you 🙌🏽❤️
Love your videos! You have an amazing understanding of the physicality and the science behind each move and play, and I live how you read the plays and break them down for us. Learning a lot, and youre kinda hyping me up to get back into playing sports🥲 keep up the fantastic content.
Thanks so much Jenna! I really appreciate you! I wished I could get back to sports too. That's the best time in the world! Thanks for all of your love and support ❤️
Agreed with the other comments, Jonah Lomu is an absolute must watch, he revolutionised rugby in the 90s as a modern winger 20 years ahead of his time. Antoine Dupont is also well worth a watch as the current best player in the world! For a more defensive video, Jerry Collins was one of the biggest tacklers of all time. Richie McCaw is the most legendary All Blacks captain of all time, and Thierry Dusautoir was a superb tackler for France! Loving these videos, keep it up! Really got into the NFL in the last few years as a rugby fan, so much we can learn from each other’s sports!
Yeah I've been hearing so much about Jonah Lomu. I'm excited to watch the GOAT in action. I'll also check out more Antoine Dupont, Jerry Collins, Richie McCaw, and Thierry Dusautoir! Thanks so much for the recommendations! I appreciate you 🙌🏽 Also thanks for your kind words and checking out my videos. It means a lot. I hope you're enjoying some NFL! I'm absolutely loving Rugby and learning all I can about it
If you love Cheslin, please react to Bryan Habbana. He is an ex springbok player and is as fast as Cheslin, if not faster. He made a name for himself with his speed and intercept tries.
Loved this reaction! Said this elsewhere, but you def have the best reactions! A few clips there of Kolbe tackling bigger guys, I played #9/#10 in High School and recall once our first teams Prop and Captain, Jean, running towards me in a skirmish match and boom, low, legs, brought him down easy. He was so shocked but yeah, Cheslin is such a great all round player I love how dam excited you get watching these!
Dude! Im South African and the game between SA and France was from the 2023 worldcup. It is literally one of the best games I ever saw. Go and watch it. One point score difference got SA the 🏆
Some of these clips show Kolbe playing Rugby Sevens, this is a shortened version of the game played with only seven players on each side rather than fifteen. It’s still played on the same size pitch but with much shorter halves than fifteen a side. This is the version of rugby that is played at the Olympics and there is a separate international circuit. It’s well with a look, with fewer players on the pitch there is obviously much more space with a greater emphasis on speed and agility of players compared to fifteen a side.
Thanks for letting me know about 7s. I did watch the 7s in the Olympics and enjoyed the speed and pace of the game. Very action-packed! I'm loving 15s a lot and learning so much from you and everyone in the rugby community. It's been an absolute pleasure to watch 6N this year as well I appreciate you checking out my videos and your incredible comment ADFMAC 🙌🏽
16:10 "What year was this?" World Cup 2023. Quarter Finals. An incredible weekend of rugby. NZ beat Ireland (who were ranked #1 at the time) after being written off having been destroyed in a warmup game by the Springboks and losing to France in the group stage. (if you like sports narratives there was some revenge at play after Ireland won a series in NZ in 2022 but that's for another comment section lol) Argentina beat Wales and Englnad beat Fiji, both very competitive and entertaining games. France v South Africa was insane. France were higher ranked and were playing at home, South Africa the defending champions. It was Dupont's first game back after a cheekbone fracture during the group stage (hence the scrum cap). Both teams seemed to be scoring at will, one after the other. SA won by a single point, which they would go on to do in both the semi-final and the final.
I love the detailed breakdown of everything that was happening in all the matches. I really appreciate you taking the time to fill in the gaps I had surrounding the game and stakes involved I've been hearing so much incredible feedback about RWC 2023 and I'm going to take the time to watch all the matches to get the full picture and experience the matches. Thank you for checking out my video as well. It means a lot. I appreciate you Jamie 🙌🏽
@3:18 You call them Scrum caps its not as hard as a helmet but it does protect your head alot trust me I play rugby also can you please react to Faf De Klerk
@@QSNgg only a conversion can be charged down as soon as the place kicker moves to kick to the poles, but a penalty can't be charged down. In South Africa, Cheslin would be called in our native tongue a "yster" 🇿🇦

World Rugby just published the France vs South Africa world cup quarter final. It is one of the best games I've ever watched - one hell of a play from both sides!

2023 World cup match. This was the best match in the World Cup. It was a nail bitter. South Africa won with 1 point against France , New Zealand and England and won the 2023 Rugby World Cup
That match was France VS South Africa at the 2023 Rugby World Cup. Quarter final in Paris. There was only a point in it. If you find highlights from that game then please react. It was an insane game to watch. You can charge down a conversion when the kicker begins his run up. You cannot charge down a penalty. The helmet we call a scrum cap. They are not mandatory but players who have had head issues tend to wear them for protection.
I will 100% check out the France v SA RWC 2023! I've been hearing so much about that game and how incredible it was. I'll definitely react and post it if I'm able to I appreciate the heads up about blocking a conversion as well. That was the first time I ever saw it happen Thanks for letting me know about the scrum caps too!
Yeah if Tuisova was born in the US he would definitely have been a devastating running back in the NFL. Scary power and pace. His quads give me nightmares.
The last 3 games in the 2023 rugby world cup South Africa won with 1 point, was nerve wrecking. Cheslyn Kolbe is one of the best South African wings we had. When it comes to speed try watching Paul Jordaan.
Your only allowed to attack the conversion as soon as the player start his run up to the ball before kicking it thats when a player must sprint. So for cheslin kolbe to sprint and block that conversion proves how quick he is
There's a video called How Cheslin Kolbe changed rugby and it's basically just more of his highlights but from his early days Young Kolbe to today's Beast Kolbe and shows how he paved the way for future Springbok wings
I love that he showed all of his critics up and has far exceeded everyone’s expectations! I love Cheslin and think he’s one of the greatest rugby players of all time! He’s my favorite by far
The helmets rugby players wear are called scrum caps they don't really give any padding or protection to the head rather they are predominantly used by forward players in the scrum to protect their ears from getting ripped off or developing a condition called cauliflower-ear (if you haven't heard of it before another sport that cauliflower-ear shows up in is wrestling)... hope that helped and another player that might interest you is another South African winger called Kurt-Lee Ardense also a brilliant player with incredible speed, agility and a nack for scoring tries Ight Cheers
Thanks so much for letting me know about the scrum caps. That's incredibly helpful! I appreciate you 🙌🏽 Also, thank you for letting me know about Kurt-Lee Ardense. I will 100% check him out!
Duhan van der Merwe has a great highlight reel, he’s a South African who plays for Scotland. He scored an incredible solo try against England in the 2023 Six Nations
Enjoyed your take on the Cheslin Kolbe highlights. You have a good perception and insight on what exceptional talent is. Even if you've never played rugby, you jave a decent eye for it. Your opinion and videos appreciated 👏🏻 👍🏻
Thanks for insightful commentary, not just looking at the footage. Kolby is one of a new breed of Wingers from South Africa, small but strong and fast with flair. The world have seen many strong and big wings such as the biggest most ferotious All Black, Jona Lomu, but Kolby and 2 new comers, Canan Moodie and Kurt-Lee Arendse are setting their own standards.
So that charge down was the only one I’ve ever seen. You can stert running when the kicker starts their kicking action. That kick saved the springboks that game which they won by point point in the quarter finals of the most recent rugby World Cup (2023), the second team ever to win back to back world cups
🇿🇦 South Africa currently x4 world champion I think the next World Cup is in the USA you will get the chance to see the mighty Springboks 🇿🇦 live u can react to them under title “ the most feared team in the world “
For conversions after a try, you are legally allowed to run and charge down the kick when the kicker begins his run up. The reason you don't see it that often is because it's extremely difficult to do it and you need to be Hella fast. However you may not start running until the kicker begins moving forward to make the conversion, if you do they get to reset and you may not charge down at all. For penalty kicks for posts you may not charge down the kicker as it is illegal. Hope that helps.
@@QSNgg it’s amazing to see! Usually Americans can be quite one sided as football is huge! It’s just awesome to see a person love all physical sports and analyse the technical prowess on show! Love these videos, love from England !

@@QSNgg Thanks for the reply. I'm glad you love rugby, you know we're crazy about this game in SA. I'm from Cape Town, just like Kolbe. In fact, he grew up not too far from where I grew up.
We have 3 Jack Russell Terriers in our Springboks team (South Africa), Cheslin is one of them. Faf de Klerk is the 2nd one, and the 3rd one is debatable between Kurt-lee Arendson and Herschel Jantjies.
It's the 2023 rugby world cup and player may charge down a convertion kick From a 10 paces depth once the kicker moves forward to make the kick for the convertion. But Kolbe came from a thirteen 13 pace run in. Hope that answers your Question..
You should watch Gio Aplon, he was teammates with Cheslin Kolby at the Stormers. He was just as brilliant as Cheslin could easily mistake the two, very similar players... KEEP UP THE FIRE 🔥🔥REACTIONS 💯
I know the moment has long since passed, but re charging down the kick. Cheslin can run as soon as the kicker moves. And the kicker just so happened to be one of his (Cheslin) old team-mates from his club days in France, so he knew the entire pre-kick sequence timing and ran him down. It eventually resulted in the Springboks having sufficient points to win the quarter final 2023 World Cup game and advance through to the semis and then go on to win our 4th rugby world cup.
Thanks for letting me know this James I really appreciate you boss! That moment is absolutely exceptional in such a tightly contested match that ended in a one point victory for South Africa It was like nothing I’ve ever seen in my life, and I can only imagine experience in person had to be jaw dropping
A good player to react to would be Louis Reese-Zammit. He was a welsh international winger/fullback like Kolbe who is currently trying to make the switch to the NFL to be a wide reciever or running back. He's 6'3 88kg (194lbs) and just turned 23. It's a good story to try keep an eye on.
Yeah LRZ is awesome !! I did a react to him earlier: th-cam.com/video/S_J9BZ1NYZE/w-d-xo.html I'm definitely following his journey as he goes through IPP 🙌🏽 I appreciate you!
That was SA vs France in the rugby world cup quarter final 2023. Also watch SA vs England rugby world cup final 2019. The first 60 minutes of play was intense insane as hell. Then SA broke the through.
For the questions you asked. It's not a helmet. We call it a scrum pet. Mostly worn by forwards to protect their ears. Doesn't really offer much protection from hits since it's only a thin layer of foam. Secondly. You may attempt to charge down a conversion kick after a try has been scored but not a penalty kick. The rules for the charge down is that you may only start your run up for the charge down once the kicker starts his approach to kicking the ball. Which is why you don't really see a lot of charge downs.
So when someone is kicking to the post you can charge down but you can only start running when the kicker starts moving. Usually, people don't try it because it is nearly impossible to get to the kicker because the kicker will take the kick from further back. But with Cheslyn Kolbe's speed and where the kicker took the kick Cheslyn got the charge down
When he plays in the green top then he's representing South Africa(Springboks). We're the 4 times World Champions, current World Champions and number 1 nation in the world. Your reviews are amazing, love your enthusiasm.
Watch the video "Ma'a Nonu destroying legends" he sits your boy cheslin down lol cheslin's dope though. Love the rugby reactions also Jonah Lomu was and is a rugby legend hes a must watch.

Thanks for the entertaining videos, Im from New Zealand and its awesome to see Americans react to rugby would love to see Allback reactions, also check out the Tuilagi brothers nothing but big hits and bump offs.
The France - South Africa game is the QF of the World Cup, the game most of the world agrees would have been the final we deserved. It was one of the best games of rugby ever played IMO. Edge of your seat stuff for 80 min straight
That block of the kick, its called a "charge-down". The opp must remain behind the line but the instant the kicker starts to move, to run up to kick the ball, you can attempt to charge it down 😊
Just as a sidenote .. Cheslyn Kolbe's cousin is Wayde Van Niekerk .. the current 400m olympic champion and world record holder in the 400m .. so speed must run in the family .. excuse the pun 😆
Wow that’s awesome Wayde is a great athlete !!🎉🎉🎉
That's awesome! Thanks for letting me know that fact. I appreciate you 🙌🏽
That's very cool! Wayde Van Niekerk is incredible. Definitely runs in the family
I just commented this and saw your post... lekke, mine now deleted 🤣
Wayde van Niekerk is a sore loser...Im South African iv seen it...a bitter loser
Google his aunty WAYDES MOTHER ... ATHLETIC GENIUS
He is an absolute legend and overall nice guy, no arrogance or attitude, he give 100% to club and country every week. Great example for young rugby players. He was initially told that he was too small for International rugby, whatever. South African Rugby supporters adore him.
Cheslin sounds like an incredible man! I love hearing that
The France v Springboks game at this last world cup (from where these highlights came) is one of the best matches of rugby I've seen.
Winter whats up boss!! I've been hearing that game was one of the best matches ever! I'll definitely check it out! I hope you're doing well 🙌🏽
The No. 14 looks like Cheslin but Cheslin plays 11. 14 is a kid called Kurtley Arendse well worth a look at him. Also a hot stepper😂
Never screamed at a game so much in my life lol
Every South African aged at least 10 years just from that game alone😂❤
That means a lot 🙌🏽
You're 100% right that Cheslin's ability to create space and move the way he does takes so much skill.
An actual charge down though, in a quarter final game was super epic to see 🔥
That's so cool! It had to be something to see live! I would've gone insane watching that game!
Ek moes strespille drink om myself te kalmeer want die Klippies en Coke het nie gehelp nie. 🤣🤣🤣

The France vs South Afrida match was a one point affair
Few years ago Cheslin was told live on TV by an ex-Springbok coach that the only way he would become an international rugby player is to shift to 9. Cheslin chose to prove him wrong and became not only one of the best players in the world, but without a doubt the best winger in the world. What a champ.
I love hearing the background and Cheslin's hero journey! I'm glad he proved them wrong and believed in himself 🙌🏽 He's my favorite
The old South African players were outstanding too. My favorite was Danie Gerber. Cheslin Kolbe definitely my favorite player now
I'll check out Danie Gerber. Thanks for your recommendation Charlene!
@@QSNgg Cool post! Yeah, Danie the best centre in the world. I don't think anyone would disagree. And they were amateurs then. Day jobs...if you like rugby you will find great Springboks. Past and present. Every Springbok wears that jersey with PRIDE.
The helmet is a "scrum cap". Helps protect from 1) concussion and 2) cauliflower ears for the forwards specifically.
Thanks for letting me know Norman. I appreciate you 🙌🏽
@@QSNgg most people call it headgear
It's also to keep the ears from getting torn in scrums (tearing the ears results in cauliflower ears)
He is one of the fastest rugby players in the world with a time of 10.70 for the 100metre.My homeboy from Scottsville Kraaifontein, same as his cousin Wayne Van Niekerk
Proudly South Africa ❤
That's awesome! He showed them they were all wrong. I absolutely love that! Good for Kolbe 🙌🏽
His simply the best!!
When the French man starts his run up to kick the ball is when your allowed to chase what kolbe did is one in a million chance of doing you never quite see that happen and for it to happen in a world cup is what made it so buetiful
Thanks for letting me know that. Such a cool play!
I got goosebumps watching this. And the helmet on his head is called a scrum cap
He's incredible to watch!! Thanks for letting me know the correct term for scrum cap. I appreciate you 🙌🏽
@@QSNgg is used to prevent cauliflower ear
@@QSNggSoon as the kicker starts moving you can start chasing for the chargedown, i have never seen it happen in the 20 years of rugby
Love the word twitch. Cannot see why the RWC are arguing about Kolbe's block. Possibly too many losers in the RWC.
I loved that he proved them all wrong! Kolbe is incredible!
Just comes to show that Mallet doesn't know everything.
He's probably the best rugby player in the world right now. Two world cup wins and no one can touch him 1v1, also very well rounded player can play all the backline positions if nessisary can kick, takle, run, there's no one like him!
You're 100% right Daniel! I love your insight on this and agree. I'm glad I got recommended to watch him. He's an incredible athlete!

Thank you so much for the great respect you are showing to a player from another country and a different sport than what you know. Also the try that Cheslin Kolbe makes at 25:20 vs England 2019 was the match wining try for the 2019 Rugby World Cup Final. Very Proudly South African. Bokke Bo.

But one thing these videos didn't show.
He kicks for goal as well sometimes, has thrown in at the linout and jumped in the lineout, has also slotted in at 9 at times. He is incredibly versatile
Everyone was shocked by Cheslin when he blocked that kick lol France vs SA was epic!!
My heart stopped
I see why!
Thanks so much for the recommendation to check out Ardie Savea and Damian Penaud. I appreciate you! I'll take a look at them both 🙌🏽
If you’re going to react to player highlights you gotta check out the GOAT Jonah Lomu.
Thanks for letting me konw about Jonah Lomu. He sounds like an absolute legend. I'm going to check him out. I appreciate you 🙌🏽
@@QSNgg Awesome giving Jonah Lomu a shout!
And an awesome human being! RIP Jonah rugby misses you
the drug GOAT
Thanks!
Thanks so much for this super! I appreciate you sista! I love you 🙌🏽❤️
Acceleration from stationary to full speed is incredible. Change of direction in a split second fools the opposition every time. Explosive energy and low centre of gravity makes him find the gaps.
You said it perfectly Campbell
That match BTW France and SA was the 2023 world cup SA won by one point its regarded as one of the best matches ever truly insane you must watch

I'm hopeful I can build a positive relationship with broadcasters and some key players in Rugby so we can enjoy this together on stream.

I appreciate you 🙌🏽
There are definitely a lot of similarities in technique between rugby vs football.
One thing I absolutely love about Rugby is that your athletes rely on solid fundamentally sound technique when initiating a tackle. As a defensive player myself it's absolutely beautiful to watch!
At times in American football we try so hard for a big hit and fail to wrap up. Which allows stronger athletes to bounce off and keep going
I'm definitely going to a rugby union match this year.
It always leaves me dumbfounded to see that type of ability showcased at the highest level

That's incredible JP! Congrats on winning the world cup too! I still have to go back and watch the games. I've heard they were amazing!

World Cup 2023. Quarter Finals. An incredible weekend of rugby.
NZ beat Ireland (who were ranked #1 at the time) after being written off having been destroyed in a warmup game by the Springboks and losing to France in the group stage. (if you like sports narratives there was some revenge at play after Ireland won a series in NZ in 2022 but that's for another comment section lol)
Argentina beat Wales and Englnad beat Fiji, both very competitive and entertaining games.

Yeah I hear those RWC 23 games were amazing! Thanks for the recommendation on Paul Jordaan 🙌🏽
You actually the first reactor to hv noticed his kicking towards the goal posts👍🏽.
U dont miss anything like that.
Much love Ash I appreciate you 🙌🏽 I'm loving seeing all aspects of the game
Your only allowed to attack the conversion as soon as the player start his run up to the ball before kicking it thats when a player must sprint. So for cheslin kolbe to sprint and block that conversion proves how quick he is
Love the Energy.
Thanks so much boss I appreciate you! Thanks for checking out my video 🙌🏽
He is a champion he is a Springbok and a South African hero.
Cheslin is amazing!
Watch Brian O Driscoll's highlights, one of the most exciting rugby players of all time
I'll definitely check out BOD. Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate you 🙌🏽
There's a video called How Cheslin Kolbe changed rugby and it's basically just more of his highlights but from his early days Young Kolbe to today's Beast Kolbe and shows how he paved the way for future Springbok wings
Thanks so much for letting me know about that highlight video. I'll definitely check it out. I appreciate you Iris 🙌🏽
I am from South Africa 🇿🇦 rugby for life
I have all the love and respect for SA 🇿🇦❤️
He was told he was too small to play the game at the highest levels. Showed them 😂. Great to see him getting some love across the pond. He’s a gent.
I love that he showed all of his critics up and has far exceeded everyone’s expectations! I love Cheslin and think he’s one of the greatest rugby players of all time! He’s my favorite by far
By far the best review on Kolbe👌🏽 Subscribed.
The helmets rugby players wear are called scrum caps they don't really give any padding or protection to the head rather they are predominantly used by forward players in the scrum to protect their ears from getting ripped off or developing a condition called cauliflower-ear (if you haven't heard of it before another sport that cauliflower-ear shows up in is wrestling)... hope that helped and another player that might interest you is another South African winger called Kurt-Lee Ardense also a brilliant player with incredible speed, agility and a nack for scoring tries
Ight Cheers
Thanks so much for letting me know about the scrum caps. That's incredibly helpful! I appreciate you 🙌🏽
Also, thank you for letting me know about Kurt-Lee Ardense. I will 100% check him out!
Duhan van der Merwe has a great highlight reel, he’s a South African who plays for Scotland. He scored an incredible solo try against England in the 2023 Six Nations
I'll 100% check out more Duhan van der Merwe! He's been fun to watch in 6N this year!
Enjoyed your take on the Cheslin Kolbe highlights. You have a good perception and insight on what exceptional talent is. Even if you've never played rugby, you jave a decent eye for it. Your opinion and videos appreciated 👏🏻 👍🏻
Massive love Jason. I appreciate you so much thank you for your kind words. It means a lot and I’m looking forward to connecting with you more boss!
This game was last year in the 2023 Rugby World cup Quarter finals against France and South Africa were South Africa won 29/28.
Thanks for letting me know Charles. I appreciate you 🙌🏽
Is not called a helmet. it is a scrum cap it is your used to protect people's heads in rugby. I also have one
As a South African, we are proud to have our little Jack Russell on Gummy Berry juice in our national squad.
He’s exceptional. I love him.
So that charge down was the only one I’ve ever seen. You can stert running when the kicker starts their kicking action. That kick saved the springboks that game which they won by point point in the quarter finals of the most recent rugby World Cup (2023), the second team ever to win back to back world cups
So incredible to watch. Hearing how it developed on Chasing the Sun was absolutely exceptional
🇿🇦 South Africa currently x4 world champion I think the next World Cup is in the USA you will get the chance to see the mighty Springboks 🇿🇦 live u can react to them under title “ the most feared team in the world “
Thanks so much for letting me know. I really appreciate you 🙌🏽 I would love to see SA live and will check out the video you've recommended as well
Best in the world!! Springboks are brutal beasts❤
@@QSNgg you can watch the U.S and Springbok match of 2015. It's a bit unfair to suggest but you might find it entertaining 😂
France vs SA was the 1/4 final in the RWC 2023. One of the best rugby matches ever played
Our Boy, Colby! He is amazing! When he gets the ball, you just know that lightning is coming!
Brilliant video - thank you.
Thanks so much Darryll! I appreciate you 🙌🏽
For conversions after a try, you are legally allowed to run and charge down the kick when the kicker begins his run up.
Thanks for letting me know that Pedro. I appreciate you so much.
It's mint to see someone completely be facinated by rugby and their top athletes.
100% boss I appreciate you Sam! I'm loving learning Rugby Union and all the incredible athletes 🙌🏽
@@QSNgg it’s amazing to see! Usually Americans can be quite one sided as football is huge! It’s just awesome to see a person love all physical sports and analyse the technical prowess on show! Love these videos, love from England !
Hey man, I'm from SA. I really enjoyed your review of Kolbe, I love your passion and analysis. Kolbe is a very special player in the rugby world. I agree, you should check out more of Dupont, even though I am a Bok supporter, Dupont is the best player in the world over the last few years.
Hey Acadoe! Thanks so much for your kind words and checking out my video. I really appreciate you 🙌🏽
Where in SA are you from? I hope to visit one day
He's definitely a special player and so much fun to watch! I'll definitely check out Dupont and more Boks games/videos.
I'm loving learning about Rugby and all these incredible teams and players
@@QSNgg Thanks for the reply. I'm glad you love rugby, you know we're crazy about this game in SA. I'm from Cape Town, just like Kolbe. In fact, he grew up not too far from where I grew up.
Thank you for the commentary, Cheslin Kolbe is one of my favourite players
We have 3 Jack Russell Terriers in our Springboks team (South Africa), Cheslin is one of them. Faf de Klerk is the 2nd one, and the 3rd one is debatable between Kurt-lee Arendson and Herschel Jantjies.
I'm going to check out all these men and show them the love they deserve. SA has a stacked and talented team
It's the 2023 rugby world cup and player may charge down a convertion kick From a 10 paces depth once the kicker moves forward to make the kick for the convertion. But Kolbe came from a thirteen 13 pace run in. Hope that answers your Question..
That definitely answers my question. Much love Billy!
You should watch Gio Aplon, he was teammates with Cheslin Kolby at the Stormers. He was just as brilliant as Cheslin could easily mistake the two, very similar players...
KEEP UP THE FIRE 🔥🔥REACTIONS 💯
I'll 100% check out Gio Aplon. Thanks so much for the recommendation Ozzy. I appreciate you 🙌🏽
You must watch chasing the sun from 2019 where his dad talks about his boy, very cool and immotional part
I will for sure. Thanks for the recommendation Thomas. I appreciate you 🙌🏽
I know the moment has long since passed, but re charging down the kick.
That moment is absolutely exceptional in such a tightly contested match that ended in a one point victory for South Africa
It was like nothing I’ve ever seen in my life, and I can only imagine experience in person had to be jaw dropping
I did a react to him earlier: th-cam.com/video/S_J9BZ1NYZE/w-d-xo.html
I'm definitely following his journey as he goes through IPP 🙌🏽 I appreciate you!
That was SA vs France in the rugby world cup quarter final 2023. Also watch SA vs England rugby world cup final 2019. The first 60 minutes of play was intense insane as hell. Then SA broke the through.
You’re spot on about that Ryno!! I wish I got to experience it in person that would’ve been awesome
Jonah lomu
Defying physics. Probably the best rugby wing of all time . Not sure what position he would be in nfl ???
I'm 100% checking out Johah Lomu! Thanks so much for the recommendation and letting me know. I appreciate you 🙌🏽
For the questions you asked.
Thanks for letting me know all of this. I really appreciate you!
So when someone is kicking to the post you can charge down but you can only start running when the kicker starts moving. Usually, people don't try it because it is nearly impossible to get to the kicker because the kicker will take the kick from further back. But with Cheslyn Kolbe's speed and where the kicker took the kick Cheslyn got the charge down
Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate you Slak!
when you block the converison is it called a charge down
Thanks so much for letting me know 🙌🏽
When he plays in the green top then he's representing South Africa(Springboks). We're the 4 times World Champions, current World Champions and number 1 nation in the world. Your reviews are amazing, love your enthusiasm.
Dan Carter, Brian O’Driscoll, Shane Williams are good to watch
Thanks so much for the recommendations Wyatt. I appreciate you!
I'll check out Dan Carter, BOD, and Shane Williams 🙌🏽
Watch the video "Ma'a Nonu destroying legends" he sits your boy cheslin down lol cheslin's dope though. Love the rugby reactions also Jonah Lomu was and is a rugby legend hes a must watch.
Thanks for the recommendation on Ma'a Nonu boss! I appreciate you 🙌🏽 I'll 100% check him out!
I'll also check out Jonah Lomu. I've heard he's the GOAT!
I see why! That game looked incredible!
That block of the kick, its called a "charge-down". The opp must remain behind the line but the instant the kicker starts to move, to run up to kick the ball, you can attempt to charge it down 😊
Thanks for the correct term on Charge-Down LJ! I appreciate you!
hes so good his block at the 2023 wc mwah the best one against france
You're so right Martin! It was absolutely incredible! Like nothing I've ever seen. Such great awareness, speed, and IQ to make that happen
