Yesterday is the first time I heard of flat lays. I've always seen it but never knew it's a thing. It makes me feel happy. Definitely want to get into this.
Hi Chelsea, thank you for your time, knowledge and cute video, I had to search the topic on YT to learn the flat lays, although I am shooting adventure style rustic weddings, this comes handy. Thank you, you are amazing and your dog the very same :) Stay safe, stay smiling ;)
@@martin-steiner-photography Thanks so much Martin! (and Bella thanks you too! 🐶) I'm happy to hear you found this video helpful for your flat lay photography. These tips definitely apply across multiple shooting & editing styles. And I'd love to hear how your cool rustic flat lays turn out! Also, since you do weddings I think you might enjoy next week's as well - on photographing wedding invitation flatlays. 🙂
This video was such a powerpack filled with loads of absolutely useful and amazing tips. I really wanted to know how people got those cosy blanket flatlay shots and I used to try it with sitting in a blanket and it never turned out great. Now i know how to get those shots. Thank you so much for sharing all of your valuable tips with us and that too for free. 🤎🤎🤎✨✨✨
Some fabulous ideas plus the textured board from another tutorial I will be using. I need to style colourful dolls. This is hard too flat lay. What do you suggest for those like me?
Chelsea! I loved this video, its exactly what I was looking for this morning. Thank you for taking the time and trouble to make it! BTW Your doggie is an adorable little munchkin!
Natural light...I am in Ireland in December hahhhhaaaahhhaaa 😁 I must use some artificial lighting, but that makes it easy, because I can shoot anytime I like.
good job I'm so "FOCUSed" on this video! LOL :P what is the brand of your sun hat, white sun glasses boots, grey sweater you're wearing and black pillow with the white pattern that's on your couch? let me know
Thanks Skye! White boards work amazing to bounce light into the shadows. And great question! The time of day for best light will vary based on your home or space you're shooting. But generally the west-facing side of my house where I shot this will be a bit too dark in the morning - so midday from about 12-4pm (before the sun comes directly through the window) gives me my best light for that area. I recommend paying attention to the different areas within your home to see how the light shifts throughout the day. Look for when it's brightest to give a glowy look that fills in shadows while still being indirect. Hope this is helpful! Let me know if you have any other questions. :)
Thanks Charles! I always shoot in manual mode. The settings for all 3 final photos was: ISO200 f/4.5 1/125. I typically shoot wide open but will often use a higher aperture for flat lays to have more in focus. For shutter speed I recommend 1/100 or higher (unless on a tripod) to eliminate blur that might happen from camera shake with how the camera is being held. Hope this helps! :)
Haha yeah, I missed an export glitch and had to re-upload real quick. Oops! 🙈All fixed now though! Hope you're inspired to create some cool flat lay photos. Happy shooting! 🤗
Hi there! Your video was great and thank you for making it! I have a question about your board reflector....where did you get it and what’s the size? Thanks!

Hi Chelsea, You are so incredibly talented in knowing how to layout the wedding stationery products that you are going to photograph and using the correct amount of light as well as the light source, but may I as what camera and lens do you actually use when taking your wedding stationery product photos Please. I have asked other photographers before but never seem to get any response, on the Camera and Lens used for a Product picture, the Only person who was Willing to Share any Information was Karl Taylor, a True Professional in very sense of the word and a true Gentleman, would you be willing to share the information about the Camera and Lens used When Photographing your Wedding Stationery Please, your help and advice would Truly be very much Appreciated, looking forward to hearing from you, hopefully soon

any tips for clothing flat lays?
Thanks for this. I have a product review and sick of pics with my face lol. Btw: SunBum is my fav. It's going to be in my next video!
Haha, So glad this was helpful! Flat lays are definitely a great way to mix it up! 😊
Ty such a cute puppy 💙💚💕
Great tips! I love how a simple bounce card does so much to even everything out. What time of day are you shooting at to have the light so even?
Thanks Skye! White boards work amazing to bounce light into the shadows. And great question! The time of day for best light will vary based on your home or space you're shooting. What lens?
What about when you don't ever get good light indoors? Do you ever use flash or strobes?
Great tips. Would like to know your camera settings for each shot. Manual or auto?
Thanks Charles! I always shoot in manual mode. The settings for all 3 final photos was: ISO200 f/4.5 1/125. I typically shoot wide open but will often use a higher aperture for flat lays to have more in focus. Hi I have one question ? Is it ok to shoot with day light from the window to get high resolution photos ? Or studio light is better?
New Video! Hah! First!!! I see you fixed the missing image. Thanks again for the awesome video for keeping us photographing from home!
Haha yeah, I missed an export glitch and had to re-upload real quick. Oops! 🙈All fixed now though! Hope you're inspired to create some cool flat lay photos. Happy shooting! 🤗

Excellent video Chels, love it! Poor Bella looks pooped though :)
Haha 😂 Bella’s just lazy. But we went for a nice little walk after we filmed. 😊 Thanks JP!

Where did you get the faux flowers? I can't find them.
I get mine from Afloral. Look for “real touch” for a more realistic look and feel. :)
@@ChelseaNicole Thanks for the quick reply! Appreciate!
