Thanks for the throw back. I remember the day my brother and I tried this. It was the middle of summer and we had just turned on our AC so the house was hot af. We were inside all afternoon until we finally got it.
Never can get the banshee to go in tunnel I’ve tried so many times
It is awkward attempting to line it up with the loading prompt for the next area, I got incredibly lucky with this attempt on video here.
You have to get a rocket launcher and use tracking on it but don’t shoot. It works like a leash when it gets stuck in corners.

Yeah, it is something of an Easter Egg. This method should still work on MCC btw (there is an achievement for it on there too).
