was doing this before. it actually helped my dominant had shooting alot, whether psychologically are actuall biomechanics. I just had the mentality that if i can hit lefties, my normal shot is automatic and effortless.
I started mimicking left hand shots wit a soccer ball in my bed before I slept for like 3 days straight 2 build muscle memory Nd I started shooting on a real hoop after this it was hard keeping form from distance so I took a break from basketball for 5 months and practice my left hand form without touching a basketball and came back shooting 3s wit a good left hand form easily
Started shooting lefty a few years ago and it wasn't easy at first but one of the tips i learned was to look in the mirror. I started practicing everywhere i went just shooting 20 righties and 20 lefties and didn't leave til i made them all. Now I'm comfortable shooting lefty in games now and i like it better and the right but i still go right at times. Now i want to master lefty pull ups in games and become more consistent on shooting lefty.
I switched to left hand shooting because I had labrum injury on right shoulder, and it seems to get back healthy but always end getting pain.. I have to say that I also had a nerve compression injury on left arm 😅. Wanted to train myself with left site shooting so I could train the muscles and all stuff I felt that wasn't activating property (shooting rehab system? 🤣)
bro what… i have the same exact problem. my right wrist is broken, it heals in 2 weeks perfectly healthy but the crazy pain and movement restriction comes back just as fast thats why i decided to learn to shoot with my left and i already see a huge progress in just 2 days
@@niewiemcopisackurdjust broke my right hand pinky knuckle/side hand .. a week ago I’m lefty on almost everything except shooting and dribbling but I’m bout to try to learn my left
well... you know that they have a whole different mechanics going on to those big guys i think it cant be just compared to off hand shooting still hell of a great video i think i also need to try none dominant hand shooting
dawon lee body mechanics do play a large factor in shooting I never said it was easy but if I can learn with either hand anyone can learn with their dominant hand
thanks for your reply i didn't mean to be rude but still i feel my words are kinda rude My English is not so good if i made you uncomfortable i am sorry It was a great vid and keep on going :D
I do understand that the two of you guys didn’t nessarily mean to say it’s best to shoot with both sides. But I believe that some people I.e. Ben Simmons, need to switch sides to be more of an efficient shooter. I had that same problem I switched to right handed shooting because I’m primarily right handed with everything and only chose to shoot with my left due to softer touch playing a big man growing up in high school and now that I’m able to shoot with my primary dominant hand I have been able to achieve more scoring instead of put backs and cherry picks under the rim. I watched this video a couple years ago and since then I have learned a lot about shooting thanks for all the information and teaching guys
I broke my right arm for 6 months and still played basketball with just my left arm, and now I'm fully ambidextrous both on jumpshot and on finishes at The rim. And something I noticed about being ambidextrous shooter is I've trained myself over time to shoot with the opposite hand of the defender and also to shoot with the hand that gives me the best angle for a Bank in on the backboard. Considering you can train yourself to go by those two parameters when choosing which hand to shoot, at a certain point even if you're not as accurate with your off hand it's still more accurate in the end because you're going to be able to get more favorable bounces off the rim and backboard and you're going to be wide-open constantly because nobody can guard both of your shot pockets
Hey coach Ryan, I just learnt how to shoot with my off hand (left), I now want to blend my game together, switching from right to left en vise versa need your help. I have been searching for tutorial videos that's how I came about this video, big fan on ILBTv. Still shooting 60-70% with my right. Form on point
I just started shooting with my left this month… now that i heard you say 6 months, I think I’m wayyy ahead of schedule in my progress! (My first sport is football, D-1 and arena in my past). Just a fun challenge…I’m bored but don’t wanna get hurt playin w/ civilians in rec leagues at my old age!
yoh coach i have severe rotators cuff im a natural right hand shooter, but now since the injury affected my shooting form and i have trauma already, i decided to practice shooting lefty i dont want to quit basketball please motivate me . thank u for ur videos this makes me feel i still have a chance .
Hi coach I'm a novice basketball player and I can now make mid range shots consistently after 2years of playing basketball my question is how long do you think it takes to develop a 3point shot? Thanks alot
I can shoot with both hands now too after watching this video I practiced with my right which is my dominant side just not with shooting a basketball and I picked up on it quickly.
Does it still sometimes feel uncomfortable shooting after switching? I've had that problem knowing that I shoot better left handed but my body wants to shoot right cause I was taught that way
Jager King not really. I am primarily right handed I just had softer touch with left. It felt cleaner. But I realized that using my dominant side helps me be more consistent. Just use which ever side you do everything else with. It naturally feels betrer
But you could already shoot with your right hand so it was easier for your to learn it with your weak hand because your muscle memory already knows that movement
I shoot with both hand i dont know why like everytime I shoot with my dominant hand (right) I get better accuracy and feel for the ball but my legs feel weird like barely get power, but when i shoot with my left I get a ton of power legs and arms feel good is just that I sometimes tend to miss left or right because my hands tend to be weird when shooting with left, any tips?
Joshua Daniels yeah but my shot on my right is accurate but my base feel weirds and weak , while shooting with my left feels great, with power but tend to miss left or right because I’m not naturally a left hand shooter, i dont know how this is possible
I feel like i’m lucky since i’m right handed but I was taught to shoot with my left so now I need to learn how to shoot with my right instead of my left which should be easier
@@jaydentakungo It’s possible but I remember starting to shoot with my right and saw my friend shoot with his left so I thought it’d be easier since he was better than me at the time
I don’t think it’d take long because I’ve trained myself to be ambidextrous in the legs and hands, but I have a lot of power. If you don’t have the power though, it’d take longer.
Patatoe Chips If you can get it off and make it don’t change it. If it’s flared a lot I would get the hand and elbow under the ball and change it a little for you to succeed in the future. But if it’s only a slight flare you’ll be ok

Yo that's how I started but with a basketball, lockdown was crazy, I was craving for the court. It's the little things 😜

I’m doing the same thing
me to i want to shoot with my left but its hard but i do everything else with my lefthand
That means you’re cross dominant
I like this because it's like I'm re learning how to shoot and I play ppl with my weak side now with is making me better
Form shooting if goat. Want perfect form then keep your hand directly under the ball and do 1 hand form shooting everyday.
Yes you should, I mean you don't have to focus all your time on your off hand but dedicated sometime to it, I think it would beneficial .

I like to play lefty righty its fun to get a volley going the best game when there’s no one around for a pick up game.
im ambidextrous and can shoot with both hands naturally but idk if i should try it in a game
I'm really shooting with my least dominant hand(my right) to get used to handling the ball with my right, while strengthening my right arm.
I broke my right arm for 6 months and still played basketball with just my left arm, and now I'm fully ambidextrous both on jumpshot and on finishes at The rim. As long as it takes for your body to develop the proper strength and muscle memory

This can be handy no pun intended for example if one of your hands are injured you can use the other hand to shoot
Dope video coach !
I can’t shoot at all I don’t know we’re to practice because I don’t have a basketball hoop
Im injured from my right wrist so I've been learning how to shoot with my left
i shoot with both hands and im super dominate on the court.
U left handed or right handed? At first.
But you could already shoot with your right hand so it was easier for your to learn it with your weak hand because your muscle memory already knows that movement
thats not how muscle memory works, each muscle needs its own reps.
Shooting with both hands let's me swish way more than with one hand but idk how
I do this myself
How long did it take you to get good with your left hand
Ryan how many shots you shoot with both hands a day
How do you aim if your shooting on the side of your body

If I’m shooting well with poor mechanics (in my point a elbow flare) do I keep it or is it limiting my potential?
Patatoe Chips If you can get it off and make it don’t change it. If it’s flared a lot I would get the hand and elbow under the ball and change it a little for you to succeed in the future. But if it’s only a slight flare you’ll be ok
