    just bought one last week with the 5amp battery, had 0 issues with it cept the trigger some times feels like it dont want to engage, but i only use it for tree trimming once a yr on my walnut tree (keep it off my 8' wooden fence) but it cuts like a charm.

    When cutting that first LARGE log, it kept stopping and starting. Was that you or the saw? If it was the saw, then why did it keep stopping? Chain seems a little tight.

    Your chain is absurdly tight

  • @pukwudjivc
    @pukwudjivc 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    That thing at 52 seconds you are saying has no use because you can't get a grip on it? That's the hand guard and chain brake. If the chain breaks it would hit that instead of your hands. On a gas chain saw when that happens the chain would actually pull that piece forward and it turns the saw off. Not sure if it does the same thing on this saw. In other words, it isn't supposed to be a handle you grip with your fingers, it is a safety device. You're also tightening that blade way too much. It should be able to pull it away from the bar about an 1/8th of an inch. It shouldn't be so tight there is no flex in the chain.

  • @armedveteran42
    @armedveteran42 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I absolutely love mine, you have to keep the chain very tight or it will throw it, I use my battery saw more than my 3 gas saws especially for quick cuts. I've asked more of this saw than it was intended and shes taken it. Great chainsaw to leave in the jeep during hunting season for blowdowns and what not so you're not smelling of 2 stroke.(absolutely nothing wrong with that) keep the chain sharp and it will be a damn good saw

  • @justinscott3001

    Dang, Why did you tighten the chain so tight? No wonder it kept stalling.

      @jasonmartin9393 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah I do agree I think it was a little to tight it needed to be lose just a little would gave it a little more power and now the little bigger battery is out it will have a little more power just think how more better it would be if it was brushless motor

  • @kirkgeahlen5532
    @kirkgeahlen5532 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is all that starting and stopping you or the saw screwing up?

  • @samuelriester1419
    @samuelriester1419 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know this is an older video but I feel like it's important to throw this out there. With these battery-powered chainsaws you want to think of the battery being in them as the same as a gas saw being started. So it's fairly dangerous to be touching the chain while the battery is in it because you're one step away from that saw turning on. Just my two cents, thanks for the review.

  • @pukwudjivc
    @pukwudjivc 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I've started wondering if the 16" bar and blade from the bauer electric (corded) would fit on this cordless saw... For other commenters, if you just need something for trimming small branches and stuff, consider your cordless reciprocating saw (sawzall). I've used mine with the 8" blade to cut down small trees and it works a treat.

  • @ottokiehl5413
    @ottokiehl5413 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    A friend has a 40V Greenworks electric chainsaw. I used it some and it compared favorably with my 18" gas powered chainsaw. After thinking about it, I realized that the majority of the time I only use the gas saw for light trimming work. Even the 40V, which is WAY lighter than my gas saw, is more than I need 90% of the time. I think that this saw with a big battery will be just the ticket for spring trimming, or after-storm cleanup.

  • @PawOfRizzo

    I picked one of these up a couple weeks ago myself since they had a $10 off a chainsaw coupon out. And really it's the best option for me. I don't have many trees in my yard, and will mostly use it for small branches encroaching from the neighbors's trees. I got tired of having a gas chainsaw that I rarely used, but had to maintain the fuel, and then fight it to start it the few times I needed it. Battery makes more sense for me. Good vid. You pushed the tool a bit, which is good, so I know it will more than meet my need.

    I'm fully invested in ryobi but Bauer is starting to be a decent competitor. It will be interesting once the brushless stuff comes out. I'm already tempted by Bauer every time I go to harbor freight.

    • @darkzero555
      @darkzero555  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ryobi is a great platform. One thing they got better is the warranty 2 years versus 90 days unless you purchase the 1-year or 2-year replacement plan. Can't wait for the new bigger batteries and the brushless and the heat gun to come out

    • @texaslh9
      @texaslh9 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@darkzero555 yeah once the new stuff comes out I might have to cheat in Ryobi a little. Keep the videos coming, the subscribers will come soon.

    • @PawOfRizzo
      @PawOfRizzo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've certainly considered Ryobi, especially with their wide choice of tools. I started getting Bauer after scoring a few of their tools for $20 to $30 at open box, parking lot sales to use a spare 20v to go along with my Porter Cable stuff. I also have always been skeptical of power tools from HF. I've been impressed with the Bauer line enough to pick up the newer tools now. I use them to have a set in my truck, and keep my Porter Cable in the garage. When the Porter Cable stuff quits in a few years though I'll probably consider Ryobi.

    • @darkzero555
      @darkzero555  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't looked around yet but I'm going to assume Oregon probably makes a bar that will fit it this is just a guess take the bar to Lowe's or Home Depot and see if you can match the bar to what's on the Shelf I would say call Harbor Freight Parts number but when I tried calling it lately their office is closed

    • @tgray505
      @tgray505 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Any 10 inch chain will fit it. Why do you need to change the bar? Unless it is un oiled,or the chain is overtightened,the bar shouldnt wear out too quickly. I have a husqvarna chainsaw thats more than 20 years old and has had at least 6 new chains,but the bar is still good. This saw was used professionally at work on a daily basis for over 6 years. If you carefully read the instructions about chain tension and maintenance,including sharpening,and proper operation,the chain will only need replacement when the teeth are worn beyond being sharpened.

    I have a couple of battery chainsaws from another brand. They are just more convenient than fighting with my gas chainsaw. Most of my jobs around the house only need the smaller battery chainsaws. Appeared to me that you overtightened the chain and put too much pressure on it while cutting. Both can cause these small chainsaws to bog down and stall. Other than that, I enjoyed your review.

    You don't know what a hand guard is? You're not supposed to put your hand through it. Definitely not pointless.

    • @woodcutterron
      @woodcutterron 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The dummy handguard is supposed to be a chain brake mostly to shut off a saw to prevent injury if the saw kixks back. A saw this small is unlukely to really be a kickback danger. I personaaly would just pull it off since it doesn't perform any valid function.
