Lord Maliss kind a looks like Skeletor before his face became a skull. Heck in the He-Man reboot, Keldor (Skeletor's original name) looks a lot like Lord Maliss.

in case you're wondering Animat, and no one else brought it up, what you heard at 8:35 was Lord Maliss chomping out the arrow, it was removed from this version of the DVD release because it showed blood in it, there's more cut/cropped/freeze frame/scene replacement edits in this movie to remove anything that was seen as "too harsh" for a kids movie.
Believe it or not, there actually was a scrapped idea for a Snow White sequel that involves Queen Grimhilde's brother seeking revenge. The idea was later used for the non-canon Disney comics, which apparently a member of Filmation must've had & decided to use that idea for their own Snow White sequel. Heck Lord Malice looks just like Grimhilde's brother (only the brother in the comic wasn't green skinned nor transformed into a dragon as if he was more like Maleficent's brother than Grimhilde's)!
I saw this movie in theaters when I was around 5-7 years old and even then I KNEW it wasn't Disney. I was AWARE it wasn't Disney. I knew going in it was going to be a different company but in all honesty.....I don't hate this film. It's aged and it's wonky in places but in all honesty I don't think this is the worst 'sequel' or animation and considering that Snow White is in public domain, no it does not count as a rip-off from Disney as Disney owns THEIR version, not the story or concept as a WHOLE. Really, if they had tightened up the animation and worked on some of the elements this would have at least stood the test of time and been reminded a lot more aside from being something connected to Filmation. I seriously think that it's ONLY because this was the last big thing the studio did this movie even got a real DVD release. I can say that as a kid, this movie got rented a LOT and I even bought the original VHS copy of it when the local video store near us closed. With that, I want you to know that the version you are watching is the edited version. The parts with the oddly placed sound effects are parts they cut out which included shots of Malice, in his dragon form, getting shot by the prince with blood spurting out. He later reaches down and plucks out the arrow which draws more blood. There is also a scene where the monster wolves are drawn much more detailed with their fangs exposed and ready to tear into the dwarfells that was cut, badly. Later on, there is an oddly spliced scene with Snow White screaming in pain which cuts to her slapping Malice. In the original, Malice more or less gets in a rape-pose with her and yanks her back towards him by her hair, dragging her, to which Snow White responds by pulling back and slapping him. There is also a shot when the Dwarfelles attack and it cuts to Muddy saying 'Take that! TAKE THAT!' but the shot is focused on Snow White. In the unedited version, Muddy is beating the shit out of Malice as she tries to defend Snow White which is why Malice later tells Muddy that he hates her the most once he gets back on his feet since she was the only one who lasted the longest in a fight with him. I can not remember if these edits were in the THEATRICAL version but they seem to be on every print of the VHS version of the movie. The DVD, at least the version I have, restores the film to the original version which includes the credits that were SUPPOSED to be in the beginning and the edited scenes which I mentioned. With the credits at the beginning, they cut out a rather nifty animation bit (basically the title turning colors and flowers blooming from it) with the titles that is lost in the DVD version as it was supposed to sync up with the theme. Also, the monkey is a cameo from Pinocchio.

We sat around in my ex-sister's castle, hoping what to do with Snow White and Prince Adam of Eternia that I turned into Orko. We drink some goblet of blood (I think). I completely understand your thoughts about this movie ElectricDragon505 and I agree that this movie could've been done a lot better, but I did find there were a few nice things about this movie when I watched it. Like how Snow White does do more in this movie than she did in the Disney movie, the Dwarfells were likeable characters and were fun to watch (despite them being useless throughout most of the movie), there's also more action in this movie than the Disney movie (despite the scenes of reused animation) and this movie did have a pretty cool villain that's more threatening than the queen. To make this movie better, I would take out all of the scenes with the owl and bat and take out the songs and replace those scenes with more focus on Snow White and the Dwarfells, so that the dwarfells and Snow White have more time to do more in the story.

They had been around for rough 30 years, but about their only success story---their one true contribution to the world that's still fondly remembered today was "He-Man". That and that alone was the sole jewel in their bronze crown. 30 years of production and that one cheesy series from the 80's was their single crowning achievement; the one thing that earned them any real respect. Everyone loves to shit on Filmation, but I can't help but feel sorry for them. :(
And thanks to them (even though it's not the only aspect) I HATE DISNEY!!!!!!! except a few exceptions... this movie was my childhood you don't just go and ruin it, f****corporation...... 💔💔💔

Why couldn’t have Filmation adapted fairy tails not yet tackled by Disney at the time? They would’ve lasted longer.
