The Swamp Jon! 9.5 Foot Wood Boat Build inspired by an English Punt.

- Beau and Thomas build a 9 1/2 foot Jon Boat with design Elements from the English Punt. The build is based on a pile of scrap wood from other projects. There is approximately $350 worth of new materials in this build. The new materials include fiberglass cloth, Epoxy, PL Premium, and screws. A couple pieces of Revolution Ply were purchased from Lowe’s on the Clearance rack due to the edges being damaged. This is a good example of how to get on the water without breaking the bank!

Had this pop up at the top of my nightly watch list. This looks like a fun build. Simple and basic boat and uses up a lot of scrap material. What's not to like. Thank you, sir, for sharing this build. Looking forward to seeing the next episode.

I enjoy watching your boat builds, it seems to get easier for you as you build each one. You mention Jeff Spira boats, his plans are no longer available online. I believe his family stopped them after he passed away. I found your TH-cam page through a video Jeff Spira spoke about your build. Unfortunately Jeff Spira passed away and his boat plans are no longer available. Thank you for posting your videos, someday I will find plans like the boat you are repainting. Wish you the best in your boat creations.
Jeff was a really cool guy. I spoke with him several times. I wanted to build several more of his boats. It’s a shame that all of that work is lost. Im thankful that his videos are still up. He left some of his knowledge to us. It is a pretty cool legacy. Hopefully someone in his family will pick up the torch or sell the rights to his plans. That being said, I redesigned the boat that I’m repainting. It is in the style of Jeff Spira but is different enough to qualify as my design. Therefore, I’m currently working on drafting plans for the Railbird XL. They will be available in the future. I’m nearly set up to get it done. Thanks for watching my videos.
I am interested in the Railbird XL, I am currently seeking out plans on Jeff’s Albion model and the other plans as well. I did an inquiry last night and I’m waiting to hear back from them.
