Lucy was born in October. Even Floor can overdo it. She collapsed in June after a Nightwish concert and was forced to take some rest until she gave birth. There is a drum cam video out there where Kai is doing this song.
Tribal is from the last album, 2020's Human:II:Nature. One of the heavier songs on the record. Kai had to add to his drum kit to play this. That album was recorded with Marko, but he left before they played any live shows. Your first song from that 9 song record. Floor sang lead on 7, Marko and Troy sang lead on 1 song each. Live is usually the way to go with NW, but If you want to check out any of their music videos, this album's first single, "Noise", has a good one.
Hello again, BemusingBill. Fantastic reaction to this killer song... compiled from multiple performances across 2023. Yes, this is a Kai song and of course, Floor and the rest of the band absolutely killed it. Thank you, buddy. Terrific.
Hi Bill! For this song Kai acquired some extra drums to get that tribal sound. I'm not very familiar with drums so I don't know exactly which kind but he did. The venue by the lake is in Kitee, Finland, birthplace of NW and Tuomas still lives there. After the penultimate show in June last year in Vaasa, Finland- where Kai was born, Floor collapsed and was rushed to a hospital. All was well but she was over tired so they cancelled their last show in Oslo (and also the Dutch solo shows Floor had on her agenda in The Netherlands). Her 2nd daughter, Lucy, was born in October, healthy and well.🥰❤
Yup, the extra toms are to his left and when I heard them, I remember saying "octobans" (final part). Think Stewart Copeland from the Police here. Others may think of the Dream Theatre guy. Since Kai isn't a Tama but a Pearl drummer, they're probably rocket toms. Those are the stand out higher pitched sounding ones and the others are added standard toms. You can see them in "NIGHTWISH Kai Hahto Drumcam 'Tribal' / Knotfest Finland 2022". Cheers!
I was thinking before I laid eyes on the drums themselves that they might have been roto toms more like Alex Van Halen. When I saw the shells and the lack of bottom heads I figured they were high-pitched toms. Perhaps you are right- rocket toms makes sense.
@@BemusingBill Ah yes, rototoms.. had those myself. When you pause your reaction at 6:11 you can see one rocket (set of two) and above it is not even a tom but actually a Pearl Mangini signature snare. Nice combo. Cheers!
My wife doesn't understand...even after being together nearly 27 years now....how I listen to heavy metal! It is what I like....ever since I was a boy in the 1960's! Now, at 66 years old, I get inspiration for my artworks from music...especially Nightwish!
These were all performances from the last Nightwish World Tour for the album Human II Nature. The song Tribal is a preview of the upcoming album that will be released this year. This is going to sound as hard as this song.
Im sure many have already commented but this is not all that old of a song. This came of their last album Human Nature in 2020. Floor had tats in all of these. I love this song but Pan is my favorite song on this album.. You can't go wrong wit any of them. I would also highly recumbent listening and reacting to the entire second disk that has "All The Woks of Nature that Adorn the Word" Incredible stuff as well as the guts to release this on the same record that has Tribal on to.
Born and bred in Africa this song just hits hard with ancient type sounds and drums, plus that Valkyrie Goddess voice hovering above all the tribal noise
Yes! That contrast between deep drums and guttural barks to the angelic voice high in the sky! Breathtaking, really. We are lucky to be here to enjoy it.🤘❤️🤘
photo 2:27 and 8:13 is from "kitee concert" summer 2023, their home town Kitee in Finland. I was there almost first row, what a amazing concert it was! The last time the band performed in their hometown was 20 years ago.
Floor would have had her tatts in all this footage as its all from their last tour - i think you just cant see them in some clips. Great reaction as always Bill thought you might enjoy that 🤘
Great reaction! The nice venue by the lake is in Kitee, Finland. Nightwish's hometown. I was there in the first row last June when Floor was heavily pregnent but altought performed perfectly 😍
@@monicacarolina6480 Sorry, by "hometown" I meant where all started. Anyhow, Kitee's concert was especially emotional for everyone, both for them and the audience, because everyone had the feeling that they had finally returned home ❤
A dream came true when i saw Nightwish in Kitee in jun 2023. 10 000 crazy fans and amazing music made my night. I whent there with my campervan from sweden. It was a long drive but it was worth it big time. Cheers from a finn in Sweden.
Kiitos ystava! Or should I say, tack min van! Either way, being in a campervan must have made it more fun (I hope!) Very lucky to get to see them! Greetings from NY!🤘🤘
These are all recent, from the last tour, so she has the same tattoos throughout. Occasionally, they might be less on display. This is not an old song by Nightwish terms: it's from their latest Album, 2020's Human:II:Nature, and the audio and video are from the tour - delayed by COVID - promoting it.
Probably my favorite song from their last album, and I love this video! If you want to see more of Kai, there is an isolated drum cam video from Kai playing this song live. And if you like those middle-eastern vibes, you'll absolutely love "Sahara" live at Tampa. It's an awesome performance, with those vibes throughout.
This is all footage from their world tour of their last album, mostly 2023. Lockdown prevented them from touring it for over 2 years. So, it's not an old song in album terms, but it was released a while ago, lol.
Great to see you again with Nightwish! And Tribal is a really good song, if short compared to many other songs of the band! The song is not very old, released on the album that came out in 2020. And as you noticed, the video was a compilation. It contained pieces from three different concerts (2022, 2023) and also the lyric video they made for the song (released in spring 2020). The place where there was a lot of forest and lakes is the place where Tuomas Holopainen (and Nightwish, all 5 original members) was born. Tuomas still lives there... And there is also a Nightwish museum!!!
Thanks for the reaction! Undoubtedly, this is one of Nightwish's best songs ever! Heavy-duty, powerful. If I'm not mistaken the earlier studio version had Marko making the animal-like sounds found mid-way through the song. Without him they had to improvise/collaborate with the other members to reproduce the sounds. Correct me if I'm wrong here!
Thank YOU my friend! I love this song! In fact, I love all of their songs at least so far and if you look at my channel I have done a LOT of NW! This one so heavy and tribal sounding and the message was deep and thought provoking. A great song! Thanks for watching 🤘🤘
I knew you'd like this one, Uncle Bill (as someone who just qualified for Social Security last year, I get a kick out of calling you "Uncle" lol). This is the first time I've seen Nightwish perform "Tribal" live, and of course it rocked. The music video for this song is fire also; the dancing skeletons in the middle always crack me up. Hope you and Wifey (Nancy) are both doing well. Sincerely, "Nephew Tim" 😄
Well youngster, I can say we are both doing well at the moment! I think I'll have to check out the official video now as I am a big fan of dancing skeletons going back to the Disney short and, of course those old Sinbad movies! Glad you enjoyed this nephew! 😁
❤ loved it. Just discovering all tunes I've been missing out on. Can't stop, won't stop, until I've had my fill. Which will be never. Thank you for the music you bring to you me. Great show as usual ❤ awesome sound.
Not a drum guy by any means, but have noticed that for this song in particular and the Human Nature Tour in general, Kai filled out the left side of his kit with a number of additions...
Those must be those upper mounted toms I noticed. Alex Van Halen uses roto-toms on his kit- think drum heads without the wooden part. They have a very similar sound. Probably needed them for this very song.
Hello sir. Tribal is such a great song but with VERY deep lyrics! Live at Hellfest is awesome too adnd the lyric video explains more what the lyrics are about (hive mind, Abraham cut in 3 (3 monothesist religions) and the army of the thousand dead...you will love it!
If she had that baby during a concert, the people who were there would never stop talking about it...And no one would ever be able to top them swapping concert stories..."I had backstage passes at that 2013 Wacken show, and during 'Ghost River...'" "I was at the show when her baby was born..." Heh...
Yes Bill, Floor has all reason to be a diva but.......she does not want to be one. Diva attitude is strange to her. The best metal front woman in the world is a very humble person, one you could come across in the street and say hello, in for a beer in the pub? Nice reaction Bill. Greetings from Holland.
Yes - the drumming is fantastic. This video compilation is a gift to the fans. It’s very well designed - but not as old as you think because it is from the current album… 🏆👍‼️
Floor loves performing so much that even pregnancy can't stop her. You get the feeling from her that even if she was not earning a single penny/cent/whatever from being on stage, she'd still be there entertaining regardless.
Hey Bill. You did a lot of NW, thx for that….but I told you once that Floor in her After Forever time did a cover of Iron Maiden, The Evil that Men Do. Such a great performance. I never saw a reaction of a reactor…so you, as a fan of Iron Maiden, can be the first. Greetings from The Netherlands
