    Smart man! The YZ250Fs have been incredible since 2001. A word of advice from a long time Yamaha owner before my last two bikes...wait to do the suspension until it breaks in. Trust me on this one, Yamaha has the best suspension on the market, I've never felt the need to revalve the suspension on any of my YZs. Make sure it's sprung for your weight or just a teensy bit under and you will be amazed. Besides the wheel, my suggestion is to save the suspension money and use it to get an FMF system, the mega bomb/4.1 combo boosts the low end grunt and you're going to want it. That's all I have to say but regardless of what you do, you will absolutely fall in love with that bike and I have no doubt that you will be faster on it.

      dustin scheller but when you consider that first gear you can reach well over 50km/h, you do. There's is a reason people install those wimpy clutches in these bikes to make them trail ready. That 6th gear that you would get on a wr250f is a crawler gear to help with the technical stuff

  • @jfratis9081
    @jfratis9081 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Couple things to mention. Do get rid of the battlecross 20s. All the center lugs on mine were gone after 4 hours. Others had the same issue. Wait until the 6 hour mark to asses the suspension. After riding previous Yamis this one will feel like rocks. My 13 is a caddi compared. It will soften up. Alternate the placement of the kill switch and the map switch. You can toggle maps as you ride without killing it. I typically shorten the throw of the throttle tube but from factory this one is shorter then a quarter turn. An antigravity 4 cell fits perfect in the battery box. The grey rubbery grip tape works well on frame and gas tank. The black papery kind doesn't stick that well to the tank. An FMF titanium exhaust will help offset the weight of the starter and help reduce the pregnant feel of this generation as compared with previous. It will also mellow out the obnoxious tone. It's loud. on a related note keep the side plate on. The muffler is fugly looking.

  • @cpalmermn
    @cpalmermn 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Get ready for the best suspension you’ve ever ridden...don’t let anyone go crazy on revalving; they don’t need much to be great in the woods. I’d also ride the 19 rear for a while before you swap it, the bigger wheel holds up well in whooped out racetracks. Enjoy!

  • @callumverdouw5930

    Sounds reasonable. Glad you swapping to the 18" rim. I would lower it 1", you would be amazed how much more control you have, and a good suspension tuner should be willing to undo the lower kit at the same cost as a revalve (free) after the initial cost. Also, super pleased to see someone that realizes suspension is the single most important investment.

    SO excited to see that bike. I think you will do much better in the harescrambles. Once you get the tuner going program it to have more down low grunt like the 2018's have. The 2018 was nicknamed the little 450 because of how much power it has down low. Myself I am seriously considering a YZ250FX.

    Zach ever since ive been watching you (season 1) ive been hoping you’d jump on a 4 thumper. Just your riding style fits the four stroke characteristics. Ive noticed with your two strokes you like the heavy flywheel for the down low grunt. So you had to make the bike comfortable for your riding style. But i think you will notice you riding alot faster on the bike. Four strokes provide that beautiful down low grunt for chugging up hills no problem. And when you jump in that feild your gonna get ripped off that seat. Im no hater on two strokes but in my opinion two strokes are for fun and four strokes are for business. But great choice of bike man cant beat a nice Yamaha!

    You will miss the six speed and electric start in my opinion, of the FX. The electric starter and battery and charging system are very, very reliable on the Yamaha's. Nice of you to get out of your comfort zone and try something different. I think you'll like the smoother power of the 4 stroke. They may not feel as fast as a 2 stroke but they're hooking up and propelling you down the trail every time you twist the throttle. Good luck this season, I'll be looking forward to your videos even more than usual this season.
