  • I ate only DELHI FOOD for 24 HOURS. Delhi, in my opinion, is not just the capital of India but also the absolute food capital. Not just because of the sheer immense diversity of the things you can eat here but also because of the incredible quality and the authentic international options. Whenever I visit this magnificent city I love to go and try new Delhi foods but also have some dishes which the capital of India absolutely gets a gold medal for. Today I even went so far that I ate only Delhi food for 24 hours! "I ate only...for 24 hrs" is a challenge on TH-cam and I just saw it as the perfect opportunity to eat as much Delhi food as possible.

    FAQ's:
    Q Where are you from?
    A I am born in former Yugoslavia. Mom is Serbian, Dad is Bosnian. During the '90's war we came to the Netherlands and I got Dutch nationality. I've lived in Amsterdam for 8 years but lost my heart to India. Since 2018 I'm based in Bangalore. See this video for my refugee story: bit.ly/2l17T9h
    Q How can you afford to travel so much?
    A I saved for 3 years while working full time and now travel vlogging is my job. I work together with tourism agencies but also do some freelance work on the side. Q (Why) Are you vegetarian?
    A I'm vegetarian but not strict. I don't eat any meat, fish, cooked/boiled or fried eggs. I gradually became a vegetarian over the course of 15 years because I disliked the taste of meat more and more. After doing a yoga teacher training in 2015 I also quit fish and the eggs. No matter my food preferences I have no issues with other people not being vegetarian. I don't judge others and kind of expect the same favor from others concerning my own food preferences. It makes for a more friendly world :-)
    Q Why do you usually travel alone?
    A Because my friends have jobs with limited holidays, kids and partners. Also I really like exploring on my own.

    Dear Iv, you totally missed Delhi foods. Though you can find fantastic foods all over delhi but there are some items which you can have only in some specific areas. First in breakfast you should have puri and desi ghee ka halwa at Chandni Chowk near town hall area (Been available at around 6 am to 9 am). Or you could also have Kachori Sabji (In Chandni Chowk at Kunwar Ji) in your breakfast. For chole bhature, I suggest you should have chole bhature at Rajendra refreshment Corner (Be informed thet they also closes at around 2 pm as the their supplies gets exhausted) at Moti Nagar near Milan Cinema. Also they keep Chole Samose which is the best in the trade. In evening for snacks you should try Moth Kachodi (Available in most of Delhi). Also Dahi Bhalla at Natraj at Chandni Chowk is good option for evening snacks. I would like to mention for Natraj that they does not have any branches but they are one of the oldest speciality shop for Dahi Bhalla and Khoya Tikki. For Golgappa you should try them at Tilak Nagar (Shop in front of Saat Manjila Mandir. This shop has minimum 5 types of spicy water, you should try all). If you have a craving for good Rabdi Faluda, Go to the original Giannis at the corner of Khari Bawli near Fatehpuri Masjid in Chandni Chowk. I would also like to mention to try some Paranthe at The Paranthe Wali Gali in Chandni Chowk. If you want real good Jalebi, Go to Shiv Mistan Bhandar at the corner of Kucha Ghasi Ram at Chandni Chowk (Many sweet shops claim that they use only desi ghee in their sweets, I can not verify their authenticity of claim but for Shiv Mistan Bhandar, I can surely vouch and endorse that they use only desi ghee in their Sweets because, I was born 53 years ago and brought up in Chandni Chowk, so I know all the bast shops there). Philosophicaly speaking there are only two types on humans in this world (1) Who lives to eat (2) Who eats to live. In Delhi most of the people (including me) are type 1, so you can find each type of food in Delhi. As you are like me, a vegetarian, so I suggested only those items which are veg. Hope you took your time to read my long comment (Still so many good food items like Cheela left for mentioning). God bless you 🙏 PS. if you really want good food of delhi, You have to walk some miles in Chandni Chowk with a friend who knows Chandni Chowk very well else don't hesitate to contact me.

    These Golgappas don't look like wheat flour ones. They are most likely made of Sooji (semolina aka 'rawa' - the stuff that makes 'halwa' and 'upma'). These are thicker, more robust and healthier than wheat ones, which are tastier

    • @IvanaPerkovicOfficial
      @IvanaPerkovicOfficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They were definitely thicker so maybe sooji is why?

    • @gamesbhaand0078
      @gamesbhaand0078 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@IvanaPerkovicOfficial yeah sooji golgappas are slightly harder to crack with thumb and are found mostly in restaurants or high end stalls (airports etc.). On the streets, wheat ones rule which are super crumbly and you gotta be careful not to shatter them to bits while making hole.

    Jeeraa, green peas, potatoes, aamchur powder ( dry green mango powder ) are very commonly used in North India.
    Puri tastes fantastic when served fresh and hot, that is, when they are crispy and more flavorful. Once they attain room temperature, they begin to get soggy because of condensation of trapped steam. Soggy puris taste slightly different.

    Some shop owners verify paper cups consumed and billed sales, to prevent staff from pocketing cash sales without billing it. So the staff has to ask for money even for an empty cup. Most probably the poor fella was just trying to save Rs200 fine from his pocket.

    Hi Ivana, very nicely taken.. You made me crave for chana bhatura.. Take care of your health.. Have warm turmeric water in the morning and night to keep your system going good..Can you tell me the background Indian instrumental music which was played while you were in the cab? Made me teary eyed..want to listen to it fully. Now I have to get up and cook😁

    Hi Ivana & friends, can please tell me on what's the difference btw chole bathura & chola puri? I was wrongly thinking that puri is known as chole bathura in Delhi until i noticed the menu board.

      Poori is the smaller "pancake bread" I had in the morning and it's made from wheat flour. Bhature is the fluffy "pancake bread" that's made from refined flour. Chole in both cases is the chickpea curry. Hope that helps!
