I applaud Zain for being able to put up with not only the no3 ultimate player in the world, but the one that uses Sonic and can go from absolutely balls to the wall aggressive, to turtle crawl campy in seconds. It sure is poisoning alright.
Yea sonix goes from my favorite player to my least favorite player in an instant lmao. Though usually most of the matchups he players are on the aggressive side so it averages out cool.

Why'd you stop following melee? Did you end up falling more in love with ultimate and just kind of left it behind? It was the opposite for me, but now I'm starting to watch more ultimate stuff thanks to Zain making the cross-over. Come hop back over and dip your toes in, Golden Guardians (RIP) made a bunch of great melee content in their time, probably the best smash content on youtube. Really wish they covered both games and were still around.

i always find it funny how in every game sonic players think he's low tier for the first half of the game's lifespan as they try to play him how the devs intended. But then they figure out that camping is just better so then he becomes top 10.
@@vegetaroronoa2660 It's the compounding of his speed allowing him to outmaneuver other characters due to the lack of strong universal movement tech, his ball moves that encourage a more "random" playstyle, and solid combos. To rework all of that is to rework the entire character from the ground up, which unfortunately wouldn't leave him with very many things that resemble sonic. The character just sucks the fun out of top level play, and we're very lucky the melee dev team didn't have the time to put him in lol.

They learn one very specific way to play the game and then main the character. If Sonic or Steve mains tried to play any other character, they would fail because they just either camp someone out or spam up-tilt until it hits and then get's a free kill.
Sonic is already a strong character in Ult But online he's literally the best character in the game, better than Steve. He's too fast, you can't react to him with 10 fucking frames of input delay

Steve is way better than Sonic online. You can react to minecart offline but can't online. You can't react to spindash release offline or online. Sonic loses trades while Steve wins trades requiring more precision against Steve. Sonic is a whiff punish character that requires edgeguarding for kills. Both of which are way harder online.
I want to see Zain vs Skyjay at the end of this to see if he's gotten any better since Skyjay vs 4 melee pros (in which he 3 stocked everybody except Salt). Make it happen.
Watching the learning curve that Zain is dealing with really gives me a lot more respect for the other melee pros that are able to do well in ultimate. Hbox, Mango and Leffen all make it look like it’s an easy transition but watching Zain start from scratch really gives perspective.
Gotta respect the attitude of playing the most difficult annoying things so he can learn to beat them. With that mentality, I'm sure he'd end up as one of the best in anything he does.

As a Sonic main I find this play style to be The cringiest and worst way to use this character. I prefer to play Sonic in your face, not on the other side of the stage... Literally my first idea when I got my hands on him was "I'm so fast I can get to you from anywhere". Somehow the idea of I'm so fast I could just run away Became the most prevalent though.

I am a fan of both melee and ultimate and would love to see Zain improve in ultimate. I do think if Zain wants to get better at the game and make great content out of it he should be contacting Larry Lurr, the man is both knowledgeable and respected across multiple Smash games.
