I grew up watching the Southern Railways EMD's as my favorites. Still like them! Wish some enterprising railroad would revive the car body style. Heck, stranger things have happened! Love that horn too!
Thank you Jaw Tooth for searching your archive for this very special train. All beautifully presented. To be on the open back of the last carriage like a president! Season’s greetings
In early 2020 last year, I marked my calendar to go see the Santa Train. Shame it didn't run, but this is an awesome throwback! Good job filming the crowds too, since that's what this train is about. It's gonna be hard to top the 50th and 75th trips, wonder what they'll do for the 100th?
That train represents the spirit of Christmas for so many people. I'm looking forward to it returning next year. I'm sure we can find lots of railfans to make sure the train is loaded for the trip.
The F7 and it's vintage 5 chime horn takes me back to my childhood. That memory would be complete if the varnish was Gulf, Mobile and Ohio! Thanks for posting!
All four engines are studs and the passenger cars are stellar in their cleanliness. That's the kind of attention UP's Big Boy garnered in my old stomping grounds a year or so ago. You couldn't stir folks with a stick. Parking was bumper to bumper.
Last year I was in that huge crowd chasing the Big Boy out west. I chased Big Boy from Evanston Wyoming to Ogden, Utah and back. I have never seen so many railfans in my life. I was set to do that again this year but it got cancelled of course. Next year I am going to chase Big Boy out west again no matter what!!
Jaw tooth, this has got to be the best video made this year!! What a beautiful train,I love the color blue,so sharp, and the vintage cars, gorgeous!! Santa's honored with a great train, wish I could take a ride!!love the horn on this loco!!those who live urban miss all this beauty and fun of being by a railroad, thanks for bringing it to us!! Triple ten thumbs up!!!beautiful train!!
Another great video! I was born & raised in Kingsport, and the Santa Claus train was a big part of my Christmas every year as a kid!! Thanks so much for the video!!
Very awesome to see that Christmas Santa train coming out of the tunnel! Very nice view of the train going over that trestle with beautiful scenery Jaw Tooth! That diesel locomotive and the CSX locomotives look so nice together pulling them passenger cars. West Virginia is the best state for railfanning in my opinion. Thanks for sharing this video to everyone Jaw Tooth!!!! Very nice view of that high trestle to@
My ears are going to be ringing for the next week. Those horns have some big lungs behind them.Just think how nice it would have been with snow the ground. Thanks for the very enjoyable video.
in the early 70's we scraped a lot of those old passenger units. at the back shop in tampa. some had 2 engines, we would pull the good parts off and take the frame to the scrap yard , which was not far from the shop
I didn't know that any F40PH's were still in use. I can't get out much because I need hip and knee replacement. Merry Christmas, or however you choose to celebrate.
@@vondumozze738 I think most F40PHs have been retired, with some being used as unmotored cab units, but they gave good service and are good looking locomotives. Merry Christmas and hopefully a happy new year.
That’s very cool to see. The Steam Railroading Institute cancelled The Polar Express run this year because of Covid. That’s my dream to see and shoot the Pere Marquette 1225. Glad to see that this wasn’t cancelled. The CP Holiday Train was cancelled, too. Thanks for sharing this video.
Beautiful locomotive in the front, with some, what looks like freshly painted or new locomotive DPUs! So Beautiful!! Thank you Jaw Tooth for sharing this! It is so cool to see Santa on the back also, and when it comes over the trestle, so Awesome!! Merry Christmas everyone!!
Really enjoyed this one. The chase can get insanely crazy. Ive chased the Frisco 1522 , Up's 844 and the Big Boy. The Big Boys crowds made it almost impossible to get ahead to other locations. Social media brings out the huge crowds. Thank you Jaw Tooth 👊
Brings back some good memories in Virginia. My wife's grandfather used to live on Steinman Cir in the 90's just across the river at the other end of the tunnel in the opening scene. Always wanted to go and see this Santa train but never got the chance. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Jaw tooth! One of the truly great American Christmas traditions on Clinchfield (CSX). The staff and volunteers are pure gold, bringing holiday cheer to very underserved communities in Southern Appalachians. Nicely captured Union Baptist Church in Dante and Cooper River - Holston Viaduct, as well. Hopefully, we will see a resergance next year(2021).
Nice. I loved the church that faced the tracks in Dante. We have a Santa train on the Cape May Seashore Lines, though I have never gone to see it. Now that I'm thinking about it, maybe I should.
We have our Santa Train on the Indiana Railroad. It is a three day trip with approximately ten stops in small towns in Indiana and Illinois. Each stop last anywhere from an hour up to an hour and a half. There are about 20 to 30 characters that get off of the train at each stop to interact with the crowd wile the children and parents get on the train to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus. For those in need new winter coats are given to children as well as toys and candy. It is a blast being a part of it.
You're absolutely right, Jaw Tooth. This is the best video made this year. Love the horn on the Clinchfield. Gives me goose bumps every time. And I love the color blue. Such an awesome video! Thank you for the early Christmas present. And may you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year😊🎄🎉
I have the video from Pentrex from when CSX invited Union Pacific to pull the Train with 3985 in the 90's and boy i wish I could have been there to see it in person.
Fabulous video for Christmas time like only our jaw tooth can produce. Always appreciate your time and efforts in making ultra dynamic train videos. Merry Christmas and happy new year to you and your family
Wow thats a beautiful christmas train. Maybe one day I would go up there and see it but I can see it on youtube. I love the santa on the way back of the train. Good video and have a merry christmas
Great video Jawtooth! I wish things were still like they were then without the virus and all. I hope they get to run the Christmas train again someday! Thanks for sharing!
When I was a small boy (many, many years ago !) I had a book called something like "The World Book of Trains". That lead loco in this video very much reminds me of the pictures of US locos from that book. Happy memories JT !! 😎👍👍
Nice video for the holiday season from your archives Jawtooth. I take it this train didn't run this year with the covid stuff going on. The hogger very liberal on the horn, awesome. Merry Christmas to all, and may 2021 be better for everyone.
Love the F-Type! I think there was a video of the restoration out there. A lot of engines for those passenger cars, but who knows :) I like the idea of seeing folks do normal stuff (2017)!
FYI. They always have that track closed at the time of this event. No other train is allowed except the Santa train until the event is over along the Clinchfield! But yeah would be bad in other cases! That side track is rarely used.
I grew up watching the Southern Railways EMD's as my favorites. Still like them! Wish some enterprising railroad would revive the car body style. Heck, stranger things have happened!
Love that horn too!
That guy on the horn is a master. Most controlled blowin I've heard.
He really knew the horns.
AMAZING horn blowing!!!!
What kind of horn is that? Sounds very strange.

The trestle at the end was great. Reminds me of tulip trestle in indiana. Old school still works. Thanks mr jawtooth.
I love how the engineer blew "Jingle Bells" on the train horn at the end. Thumbs-up left. Thanks for the content, Mr. Tooth. 🎄 🧑🎄

12:15 Even the washers, dryers, and refrigerators came out to say hi to Santa.
I saw that too and did a double take. Santa's groupies from Best Buy's appliance section floor models who've seen better days.
so why were all those appliances just sitting alongside the road??? Inquiring minds want to do!
I noticed that, too. Must be an appliance junk yard.
LMFAO
Thats one great consist of power! Those clinhfield engines look great!
Indeed!
Also, the f40ph’s are beautiful

Thanks for the video jaw tooth . Its was fantastic.
Looked like it was a rather expensive train ride... even Santa couldn't afford a seat, so he had to stand at the end of the last car, waving! LOL
Great video. Merry Christmas to all from Colombia.
Nice video, and merry Christmas!
Awesome videos there JawTooth!!! You always have the best. Thank you sir...
