Thank you Kristen Marie for giving us Solos a sounding board! Some clients can be real boundary pushers. I once had a client that tried to bribe me for discounts in exchange for a 5 star review, but, I had to graciously decline. Another client threatened to remove her 5 star review because I charged her a cancellation fee. She argued that she was entitled to no policy fees and accused me of being unethical because she claimed that she was unaware of my short notice cancellation policy. I’m glad I had it on my menu of services to show her, and informed her this is standard in our industry etc. I even sent screenshots of other spa/salons policies (Massage Envy etc..) so she knows I’m not making this up. So she paid the fee, kept the review up and later sent me an apology letter expressing her embarrassment. I’ve haven’t seen her in since.

I have to have my front door locked too! Some “HM” clients don’t like it, but it’s always the clients that have all the struggles in one. They are the cheap and picky clients. Can’t be both! I put a sign on my door to please do not call as I may be in an apt and I will text them when they can come in! People don’t read now a days or just don’t care!

I am retiring from esthetics because I cannot handle the bitching and complaining from clients. People just whine and complain and it's abusive negative and toxic. I am an empath and a total people pleaser so I take on more than I probably should. People abuse estheticians and don't give them the respect that they deserve! Our job is a physical job it's hard on the body, we inhale toxic chemicals all day and touch people while they spew their bullcrap all over us. God bless you I wish you the best
Love that you mentioned that fact that we are competing with “high end” chain spas and we don’t get the same respect that they do. A client recently told me that a friend of hers asked why she doesn’t just go to European wax center instead of coming to see me. I know it wasn’t her intention to upset me but it made me feel kinda awful to think that’s what other people could be thinking as well.
Aww, yea I dont know what the intention would be to even tell you that at all. But obviously she didnt go to European Wax and went to you instead. You must have something special about you that she liked that European wax doesnt give. Whether its friendliness, great waxes, or better asthetics or experiences, you're special and different. We gotta remember that 😉❣

I think it's this time of year. I just had to enforce my policy because of a client kept wanting to reschedule right before her appointments on Saturdays. I told her she was on my "list" and can't book on the weekends for 6 months. She said she understands so whatever. I also got a message from someone that caused me to book 2 people at once. I didn't even know that was a thing. I don't answer or respond to my texts now unless it's the school or the next client (with urgency)
Great video. If you worked at multiple franchise locations would you refer a client that made you feel uncomfortable? Also, as a client can we find out why a complaint was filed against us?
Would you turn away a male facial if your focus is more for women? Opening up a spa and I am starting to have males interested. I'm not sure how comfortable I would be since it's a spa suit and I would be alone.
Question- I had a full face and Brazilian wax. 4 days later the client called and said she got a cold sore that morning. The face and Brazilian were completely fine. Is it possible to get a cold sore from wax 4 days later? They refunded her for everything.. I work at a day spa.
A cold sore is a virus exchanged by saliva/ like herpes. There is definitely no way she could have gotten a cold sore from the wax. Thats definitely not your fault and she should not have received a full refund 😐
I have a question about cold sores. I know that the first 5 days of the cold sores it’s not contagious but for your scenario would you have them come in after it’s completely healed , or do you have them wait 2 weeks to a month?
Cold sores are contagious when they are inflamed and have fluid coning out. The only time i would feel comfortable is if it is scabbed over. Otherwise they can spread and you can contact it if you are not wearing gloves. Just depends on the client and they would need to notify me of this before they come in for their facial
I had an encounter with a client from a healed cold sore from a month ago and I know we aren’t supposed to perform on such unless it’s completely healed. Said I would prefer she reschedule, She got upset , said she was a physician and that she was fine. Luckily it wasn’t inflamed with pus. It looked scabby thank god but I did the facial with precaution. You’re very helpful , and I love your content.

Yess! Sometimes you have to make a big sign that is right in front of their face for them to really get it 🤦♀

I have stopped mid-service with a client before her drunk boyfriend kept coming in and being rude I got up ask them both to leave and left the room

yess, @msglambeauty is correct the difference is the cartridge being used on the pen, nano is more of a flat surface and penetrates the skin.
