    Kevin Bond Here!!! Thanks for the mention Guys. I’ve used many different setups through the years. Roland RD300, MKS20 & P330. Yamaha Controllers midied to those. Kurzweil PC88 and the Micro Piano, and lastly Yamaha MO-8 & Early Motifs.

    It has a buzzy layered sound quality with the character of the MKS-20 which makes it uniquely expressive, similar to the Triton stereo piano....that one is actually on another planet

    BEAUTIFUL. this piano sound was the sound of 90s Rnb and early 00's. the jv1080 upgraded this sound to 128 voices. both versions have the same character though.

      What’s your thoughts on the Triton piano?!

      @DeyquanBowens The Triton Classic released in 1999 was used in countless rnb, hip hop, and even gospel albums, including Smokie Norful. I need you now, 112's Crazy of you, and thousands of other records. Personally, I prefer the jv1080 piano sound over the Triton Classic, but the Triton Classic Piano patch sounds amazing if you're making early 2000 rnb fam

    I bought my roland xp 60 in 2001 and still use it till this day. Ive made a-lot of money from this keyboard. Now i have maintenance like broke keys or stuff gotta fix cause of age and usage. But other than that this keyboard is definitely one of the best.

    I have had my Roland JV-1010 since 2002, and I use it along with my Motif ES8 and Roland Juno-Di. The piano sounds of the JV still works wonders for me!!

    Man I’ll tell ya… I am a Brazilian national and Roland xp60 and xp80 was the work horse of the Brazilian gospel music in the 90’s..particularly for me is my favorite because of the expressions as you play and apply intensity .

    Thanks for explaining the backstory of this keyboard! I also heard that the Yamaha S90/ES is underrated, especially compared to the Motif... It would be dope if you could make a list of other underrated keyboards for gigging/church; I think this would help people with picking sounds that make them unique and not trying to be the next Deyquan, Mike Bereal or Kevin Bond...

    The xp10 was my first pro keyboard. I actually refinanced my car to get it. Dumb move. 😃 I wanted the xp60 but couldn’t wait and save. I still have that keyboard and probably need to get rid of it as it has some issues. Someone knocked it over dancing and broke a key on it. 🤦🏽‍♂️I also have a problem with loose soldering at power connection and the keyboard goes out of key and stays if you use the pitch bend. I can’t remember if it was from when the person knocked it over. Roland was my keyboard back in the day. It’s part of the reason I have the Juno DS now.

      Out of the MKS20 and P330, which one do you like better?

    • @Paris2894
      @Paris2894 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, I love the MKS 20… but that P330 is kinda special. It’s almost like (to me) that it’s a little “cleaner”, smoother? Yet you might not even know it was the 330 being played.

    In a band it would shine. But I feel for solo piano works I wouldn't use this. Unless maybe I'm doing a layer of sorts.

    • @DeyquanBowens
      @DeyquanBowens  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If I'm playing a song from the 90's and I want to capture the vibe, I'll definitely use it. Realistic pianos don't work in every scenario. By today's standards, the Power Grand sounds fake but it cuts through a mix!

    Yes, It is still good especially for doing covers in that area. Yes, there better piano sounds but may not fit with what you are trying to do! I still have the XV88, FAFantom 76 which replace the XP series keyboards, Fantom S88.
